5.0 out of 5 stars Great for my 11 year old
I was very skeptical buying this as reviews were off putting but didn’t wana buy an expensive one because I know it will be a phase my daughter will grow out of. But my daughter has loved using this machine, few times the hand turner hasn’t turned smoothly but we’ve worked out that’s because it was pulling the yarn ball, so aslong as it has loose yarn away she can go. She’s 11 and she watched the video of it being started off and picked it up really quick with no help from me (I’ve no idea with this stuff) she loves using it & takes minutes to make a long tube scarf or a little hat if you sew the ends. Great purchase
5.0 out of 5 stars What a great little machine
This is a fantastic little machine when you figure out the knack. I knitted the big long grey tube at a fast speed and it didn't drop one stitch. The places where the stitches don't look as good is when my yarn tension pulled too tight or slack, user error not this machine. I paid just short of £13 for this and I now see it's even cheaper. This is honestly a bargain. The grey tube is Aran weight yarn, the funky tights are a 4ply i think, was an odd ball I had with no label. The rainbow socks are DK but double strand. I've also made cotton scrubbers on it and more socks that were chunky yarn.It handles Aran weight brilliantly, happily works with chunky weight King Cole and James Brett chunky marble, it wasn't keen on 2 strands of DK but I just went steady as it was struggling when the 2 strands split, keep them together send it's fine. DK single strand is more like tights but works brilliantly for scrubbies. It really didn't like Pato chunky yarn which is much thicker than normal chunky but it did work I just had to help is along a little. The key is to make sure the yarn drops down onto the 2 little teeth/prongs. If it doesn't then the stitch gets dropped. I made myself some weights which worked a treat. If the yarn tension is too tight the needles won't catch the yarn. I tied a piece of Yarn round the front leg and unraveled enough yarn so it wouldn't pull, I put blue tac under the feet of the machine and stuck it to a tray. When the tube is long enough to touch the tray is will cause resistance so just pull it up through the middle and if you clip it together you can put weights inside which pull down the stitches and prevent dropped ones. I have an addi kingsize which was a lot more money and yes it's a smoother crank and handles thicker yarn better but it was very pricey too. My addi drops stitches as much as this little one if the stitch doesn't drop onto the prongs properly.Don't cast on too tight, cast into some scrap yarn so you can attach weights before the yarn you're using for your project. The 22 needle one is the one I have and it makes socks, mittens, preemie size hats but you could easily make bigger hats by making flat panels or join the tubes. Basically anything leg and arm size, I made the cuffs for a cardigan on it and just doubled them up for a thicker look.I really can't fault this little machine for the price 5 stars from me and hours of fun.
4.0 out of 5 stars Fun to learn, good for beginners.
Really good value for money. Quick delivery, easy to set up as well, Instructions included, easy to follow, but lots of YouTube videos to watch and learn from. I am able to make bed socks and hats for newborn babies on this knitting machine. It says for children, but it is suitable for adult beginners as well.I placed it on a cushion on my lap when using it, it keeps it from moving about.Negative points are, it struggles with certain types of yarn, if it is too thick, it just jams. Also, there is no tension tool at all on this knitting machine, which is such a shame, as it would improve the quality of knitted items and probably be able to handles different yarns. This knitting machine has given me an interest in making knitted items, I purchased the bigger version of this knitting machine, which has the tension control tool included.
5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely love it!!
The media could not be loaded. As an avid hand-knitter and crocheter, I was a little dubious to try this wee machine however I'm absolutely thrilled that I did! I needed a quick gift made but really didn't have time to sit and knit something, so after reading reviews and watching a few videos I decided to give it a try. The machine itself is very sturdy and so far I've had zero issues. The legs come with suction cups which has been great and they stick to my table with no movement. Took me a minute or two to read through the instruction booklet to help me cast on. There are a couple patterns included too which was handy to get me started. This really is great value for money and I'm glad I decided to buy it. I'm so impressed I'm going to order the 48 needle one now 🥰
3.0 out of 5 stars Crank handle hates me
I loved this machine.... 2 days ago..... when I received it!!! Made a few hats, had a lot of compliments... yeahy, go me!!! Today however I started to make some hats for a few of my residents where I work (requested colours and all) and the crank starts making a right racket. I looked down and noticed it was 'slightly off cilter' so kept winding slowly.... nope, 5 minutes later, handle falls off. Not happy. I unscrewed it only to find part of the inner plastic had snapped. Really want to send it back but going to see if I can buy a replacement 1st as I honestly love the machine aside from this issue and I'm pretty sure I can find a solution.Sturdiness wise, you seriously need to superglue this thing down as the suckers don't suck. Find yourself a thrift table and screw it down, it'll be fine from there on in.Just make sure you are prepared for a bit of DIY from the onset.Aside from that... it really makes some awesome beanie hats and scarfs.
1.0 out of 5 stars Malfunction
I brought this not long before it broke down and the handle would no longer crank properly. I used it as the instructions portrayed and it packed in almost instantly. Would not buy again as very disappoitning.
