This replaced a digital scales we had for many years and had a rather dull LCD display and controls that were not very responsive. This one is very good, perhaps a bit old-fashioned in using two AA batteries (I would have loved a USB input for a rechargeable unit), but those batteries power a very clear red LED display which is easy to read from any angle and doesn’t reply on the lighting in the kitchen. The controls are excellent, immediately responsive. Well worth having and I recommend it.

Can't comment on reliability yet, as I've not had it long, but first impressions are generally good. I got this on the strength of a favourable review in Which? Magazine and because it seemed a reasonable price. Observations so far - the glass surface is nice and easy to wipe clean, and the black colour hopefully means it won't start looking grubby like my old white one that stopped working. Of course it does show up smudges, dust etc - but again, easily cleaned.Slight niggles are that it seems a little sluggish compared to my old one - takes a little bit longer to turn on and initialise before it's ready for use, and also when I add ingredients I have to be patient and allow a slight wait for the reading to settle as it doesn't quite seem to respond in real time. I also find that if I add a certain amount of whatever food, when I spread it evenly the weight reading changes by a gram or two, but the same happened on my old scales. Finally, it's also a bit slow to power off automatically so I'm not sure how long the batteries will last, although I can turn it off manually if I remember (by holding the power button for a few seconds).The display visibility is good as it's illuminated (though I wondered if it should dim to save battery when there's no movement for a while?) and it's easier to read than my old one when there's a large bowl on top. I'm also glad it takes AAA batteries instead of button cells (personal preference). Overall, reasonably happy with it so far - I just hope it proves reliable.

I'll be honest, I did not want to get rid of my old analogue scale, but one day it's discoloured dial looked at me after the umpteenth kilo of bread flour and said, enough! No more! Retire me! Besides, it only did 2 kg and as I also use it for post office parcels, I decided to thank it for nearly 3 decades of service and send it on it's merry way to the great recylcler in the skyI digress, compact and bijou, easy to use with a comprehensive tare function, multiple units of measure and auto off. Is it the future? Maybe, but the signs are pointing that way (especially if I was confident enough to lay old trusty scale to rest!)

I will preface my review by saying that I only use this scale for one simple task - weighing food for calorie tracking. I'm certainly not a hardcore baker 🍰With that in mind the red display is easy to read, it's accurate, tare function works well, the dimensions are good for keeping it out on my kitchen counter and I've had no faults after carefully wiping the top with antibac spray.Much better than my old scales and great value for money.

Simple to use and easy to see display. So much better to have illuminated red read out than usual unclear dark grey on grey. We will have to wait and see how long it lasts as still new but seems well made.Glass top easier to keep clean than plastic.
