5.0 out of 5 stars Great value, and as good as a non-mechanical board can get.
Seems to be a pretty good keyboard for the money. This keyboard offers a nice balance of quality, value and performance. It was bought to replace a generic office keyboard so wanted something above average quality but without breaking the bank, which ruled out mechanical keyboards. This has classic full-height keys and an extremely understated appearance, without so much as a brand name, so it was ideal. It's a decent size, and it's fairly comfortable to type on- perhaps a little softer than my ideal keyboard, but definitely nicer than the vast majority of keyboards out there. Form-factor wise it's pretty large, on a par with very traditional desktop keyboards, which could be a consideration if looking to house this on a desk with limited space, but that was not an issue for me. The keycaps are a traditional shape, not dissimilar to Cherry caps of old in feel, though of a thinner, less hard wearing plastic. That said, as per Perixx's claims, they are significantly nicer than any other caps I've seen on a membrane board. In terms of noise, it's on the louder side of average, but only marginally so. The keys do have an element of the satisfying "thock" in their weight and travel, but it's not anywhere near antisocial or co-worker irritating levels.I really struggle to find fault with this keyboard- I've bought similar budget keyboards in the past and this outperforms all of them. If I did have to pick something I disliked, it's the overall weight and robustness. This keyboard is LIGHT. I for one would have preferred a thicker frame (although I appreciate a metal lined chassis is out of the question at this price) which would be more resilient to my rather aggressive typing.Overall, I'd rank it a 9/10 but close enough to be a 5/5 here. It easily outperforms any laptop keyboard for comfort, is a major improvement upon the majority of modern "slimline" desktop keyboards, and is definitely better than the typical membrane boards shipped by PC manufacturers. I'd say this board is on the threshold of what could be considered "enthusiast" or "professional" typists boards- obviously it lacks the mechanical switches sought after by typing purists but offers pretty much the best experience possible without taking this jump.In summary, I'd say Perixx have it spot on with this one. I would definitely buy more of these, and I would happily advise anyone looking for a keyboard to give this a look.
5.0 out of 5 stars Superb quality for not much money!
Excellent “budget” (or non-mechanical) keyboard.I bought the white version of this keyboard. It’s absolutely pristine. It’s made with beautiful, perfectly white plastic. It’s absolutely gleaming! Ideal for clinical settings or a beauty salon or minimalistic house. Lovely! It’s UK layout – absolutely vital if you live in the UK! I’m never sure why people in the UK put up with US-layout keyboards (why deprive yourself of a £ key? Why have such a small <Enter> key when it gets used so much?).Anyway, this is kind of an “old-school” keyboard. I’ve worked at PCs for as long as they’ve been around, so I consider such a classic layout to be a great feature. By classic, I mean it’s got separate sections, with a distinct section for “Insert/Delete/Home/End”. Because I use these keys without even looking, I hate keyboards where this section has been messed with. It drives me nuts when the layout has changed. Nothing worse than having to stop momentarily because you’ve lost the End key. Well, there’s no danger of that with this keyboard. It’s that classic layout you know and love.If you’re more modern in your outlook, you might not like the keys: they are a good, traditional height, unlike many other modern keyboards (which seem to contain much lower profile keys). If you’re into mega modern, super-slimline, mac-like keyboards, then you won’t like this keyboard. This is an old-school keyboard with nice big keys, a classic layout and everything exactly where you’ve got used to it being. The keyboard doesn’t have any logos on its front side at all. Keyboard purists will love this. Perfection! There are no “shortcut” keys – you know, those irritating little buttons for play, stop, volume increase, decrease, etc. Again, being rather old-fashioned, I hate these buttons; I consider their absence to be good. They make a keyboard look cluttered, fiddly and confusing. I find I never use them, making them a waste of space. But, if you do like those little extras, you’ll be disappointed – there are none on this keyboard. In the description, it said something like “sound is similar to MX Brown switches”. I think that’s a bit much, it’s stretching things a bit. This isn’t a mechanical keyboard. Keys can sound a wee bit rattley, which I’ve never noticed with any mechanical keyboard. But you do get an okay sounding keypress. It is noisy (which I happen to like). But if you live in a monastery, this could bug your fellow monks. Don’t buy this keyboard if you want a quiet keyboard. The main keys sound good – nice response, if a teeny bit “rattle”y. But the space-bar is the exception: it’s annoyingly loud and produces an annoying “clack”, which is louder and sounds completely different to the other keys. Shame about that.Build quality is very good. Nice, solid plastic, but not absurdly heavy. The finish is great. Lettering is faultless. Num/Caps/Scroll lights/labels are perfectly spaced and excellently printed – nice! Even the cable & USB plug is the best quality - much better than my Unicomp keyboard which cost more than 5 times as much. This keyboard has not been made on the cheap. It’s even got the little notches on the F and J keys for the touch-typists amongst you! Bliss!Because of the nice key height, decent response and classic layout, I can type very quickly on this keyboard, without even having to look at the keys. You pick up quite a pace up on this sucker! For the price, it’s a lovely keyboard. Obviously it’s not a replacement for a mechanical keyboard. But it is of very decent quality for the money.
4.0 out of 5 stars Very solid experience for a budget keyboard
I've been using this keyboard for a couple of months now, after toying for weeks over the possibility of throwing money down the drain of fancy mechanical switch keyboards or buying one of the official model Ms. Then I saw this and fell in love with the beige and grey colour scheme, green leds, and lack of a Windows key (the version I have has a plain keycap with the wort 'Start' printed on it). I looks stunning frankly, sparking nostalgiic memories of 90s PCs, and has a colourscheme very similar to my old A1200. Really fun to type on, makes a satisfying thocky sound though its a membrane. The only drawbacks are:Keycaps cannot be removed (I'd love to be able to swap them out for some different colours) - this is probably a very niche complaint. The cable is ugly, its cheap white plastic and does not match the colouring of the keyboard. It is also hardwired in so cannot be removed.Other than that this keyboard is a bargain. I love it.
5.0 out of 5 stars Really surprised in a good way
This keyboard is the real deal. It totally reminds me of my 90's compaq keyboard I used to use with my xerox printer and old HP PC. It has the same sound, and aside from a far too unstained cable (probably age related on my old keyboard) this thing looks just like the old ones used to but feels increadible. Mine is the grey and white one (the vintage looking 2 tone one) and the keys click like a mechanical keyboard but not in a horrendous way, just a perfect level of noise. I have two £200 gaming keyboards and this is just as good for playing COD MW2 and other online games. Really didnt notice much difference to be honest. Easy to type on and clean looking. I was worried as seen lots of mixed reviews of these but this one is spot on and feels solid. If I remember, i'll update after a few months of use in case there are any "fail" points at all.
Not bad
Not a bad keyboard but the left shift key being small gets missed a bit when typing.Overall not a bad keyboard
