This exciting story of a British-Swedish London detective helping Stockholm police hunt a serial killer is 100% worth reading. The author really makes you feel like you're in Sweden. Too often a book like this, where the location is key, fails to do that and does not capture the feeling properly. This does. I am usually awful at seeing a twist coming (which I like, it makes me enjoy the reveal more!) but I did see one coming a mile off here. The main twist however, I had no idea and was stunned. Great twist. The only thing that lets the book down for me is the main character Jamie Johansson, she's just a bit...'meh' as the kids say. (and if I had a Krona for every time she "set her jaw" I would be able to afford a pint in Stockholm...) Not likeable. But not unlikeable. Just THERE. I wanted to be on her side more but never got into her. And as for her one dimensional Swedish partner on the case...'boooooring' as the kids say. So a star off for that and the twist I saw coming, which in hindsight was a fault of the plotting. But the big twist is a brilliant shocker, the atmosphere is great and the tension and action keeps up throughout., If you like thrillers, read this. I look forward to reading the next one.

I have heard many good reviews of Morgan Greene’s books, so I felt long overdue to join DI Jamie Johansson in Stockholm, her home city. I understand there are 3 prequel books set in London, so I will double back to them later.Angel Maker finds the London Met’s DI Jamie Johansson in Sweden, revisiting a crime, and a time which played a huge part of her painful teenage years. Jamie’s father, Jorgen, was a high profile officer in Stockholm Polis, a detective on the infamous Angel Maker case 20+ years ago. After two decades, a startlingly similar case is discovered. Is it a copycat, or were mistakes made her father on the original inquiry?I really enjoyed the characters, I found them to be varied and interesting. The storyline moved at a pace, had plenty of misdirection, and the writing held my attention.I really enjoyed the audio narration by Sofia Engstrand.Sofia injected so much feeling and tension into her voice, which enhanced the story beautifully. As a UK based reader, I found hearing the true pronunciation of the names very helpful and informative.The ending of the book ties everything up perfectly, and leaves a couple of tantalising teasers for what may be coming next. I already have Rising Tide downloaded ready to listen to very soon.If you have Angel Maker lurking in your tbr, and haven’t read it yet. I suggest you bump it up to the top, as I wish I had had read this gripping thriller sooner. 5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ from me.

Was very surprised to find who the killer was in the end and did not see that coming.... Also the shoot out at the cabin stood out as one of the best written.... It was like watching it on film as it rolled out.... Amazing excellent writing

Plot was good. Unexpected twist at the end. Found some of the descriptions, such as snow on trees and the weather quite repetitive. Skipped those paragraphs.

I was a little apprehensive reading the first two chapters it spooked me a little, I continued reading and I'm glad I did, I didn't guess the conclusion so that was good, it's a brilliant read and I've just downloaded the next in the series .

of the best crime fiction stories I have ever read. For me, no book is truly unputdownable: real life always intervenes. Nevertheless, after whatever caused me to stop reading, I was always itching to start reading again.The story was compelling, the characters credible, the writing brilliant, and the pace never let up. I haven't checked - I only stopped reading a few minutes ago,but I truly hope that there's a sequel.

It is a great addition to the Jamie Johansson series which quickly became a favourite of mine.While I did miss the characters from the DS Jamie Johansson series it was lovely to meet new characters who I quickly came to love.Jamie remains the strong female character she has been throughout. I love that when she sets out to do something she never gives up even when her superiors tell her no.The story is unlike anything I have read before which made it all that more enjoyable. It ends with not 1 but 2 twists that I never saw coming. 1 relating to the case and the other that could change Jamie’s life forever.I highly recommend this series and can’t wait for future instalments.
Good story…
Angel Maker was well written with enough twists to keep one guessing and wanting to keep turning the pages. Believable characters, good setting. I will be reading more of this series!
