5.0 out of 5 stars Great Addition for Blink Security System!
The Blink Add-On Sync Module 2 has been a fantastic enhancement to my Blink security system! Setting it up was a breeze; I simply plugged it in and followed the easy instructions in the app. This module has significantly expanded the range and functionality of my Blink cameras, allowing for seamless connectivity and improved performance.I love that it supports local video storage, which gives me peace of mind knowing my footage is backed up. The responsiveness of the system has improved as well; I receive alerts promptly, and the video quality is great. If you already have Blink cameras, I highly recommend adding this module to your setup. It’s a reliable upgrade that maximizes the effectiveness of your home security system!
5.0 out of 5 stars Decent alternative to a subscription
I got the sync module 2 after having my blink doorbell and blink mini for over a year. Previously had the blink subscription but didn’t particularly want to pay for another year, so purchased this instead as a money saving option. It was super easy to set up, and is fairly neat and compact in size. If you want the app to save clips, you need to plug a USB into the module. Doesn’t need to be a fancy or special USB, if you have an old one hiding in a drawer somewhere, that’ll do. The module only needs power which can be via plug socket or USB cable (both included in the box) and can be put anywhere in the home as long as it’s got wifi connection. I can now do live view on the doorbell which I couldn’t do before on the blink subscription as my doorbell runs on battery not mains. So that’s a nice bonus.Hilariously, blink/Bolo have added a delay from you clicking on a clip in the app to watch to when it loads, claiming it takes longer to load from USB which is honestly ridiculous in this day and age - I imagine they’ve done this to try and get you to use the cloud annual subscription instead which is very naughty of them. I’m not bothered about the clip loading delay but can see how it might frustrate people, especially if you’ve gone from cloud storage (via the subscription) to local storage (via the module). My only negative is that the module has annoyingly bright blue and green lights on them which is so unnecessary. If you set it up in a room where someone with light sensitivity sleeps, you may want to keep it upside down or get some of those stickers that block the lights.
4.0 out of 5 stars Problems with old system after updating a router
IF like me you've changed your home router and now find you can't re-connect to Blink with the new one ( A common problem ). Then, if you've got the mk1 version, the only way round it I found was to buy a mk2 module. It worked thankfully, otherwise it would have meant the whole system would have been redundant. Not too happy about shelling out another £35ish, but so far so good. With hindsight I wouldn't use Blink again, but with the Module, 3 cameras and a doorbell, it not exactly cheap to just consign to the scrapheap. Hope this helps some of you out there. I know there's a lot of flak going around because of this....... PS. IF the mk 2 didn't work, I'd have been able to return it and get my money back. A gamble, but it paid off for me
5.0 out of 5 stars works well
Works as expected.Easy to wire.Syncs recordings timely. Speed is dependant on the usb used. Max capacity is 256GB(strictly). Tested external hard drives with capacity up to 1TB but none worked. Wanted to have the speed of a usb-c device but unfortunately can't. Wish support is enabled for higher capacity devices. I used a usb-c to usb-a cable to connect an external NVMe enclosure with 1TB drive for the test. tried with 512GB as well but nope.Other than that it works well and reliably so far for offline storage if one doesn't want a subscription for your motion recordings.Solid purchase.
5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to set up
This is so easy to set up a series of cameras , simple clear instructions and no fuss. Does the job and does it well
3.0 out of 5 stars Unreliable
Bought it to replace a faulty Sync module. Easy to set up, at first it was fine but after two days kept going offline and unable to reset straight away. Help desk was useless..Needed it to monitor a frail 86 year old lady with dementia from falls in her own home and I live nearby.I’ve gone elsewhere for some reliability and peace of mind.
5.0 out of 5 stars No problem viewing video clips saved to my sync module when armed while I'm out
Had little problem initially getting the sync module recognised in order for the video clips to save onto my USB stick.Found needed to delete the system first, then add the sync module before adding the cameras as it kept trying to write clips to the cloud when did it the other way round.Once got it working have no problem viewing saved clips that are saved to my USB stick when system armed while out.
1.0 out of 5 stars Stops recording after 2months
Wouldn’t buy this model at all and tbh want my money back. I didn’t spend money on something that just stops working. And it’s funny you get the 30days free trial and it works amazing but as soon as that ends iv had nothing but trouble. Iv followed all instructions and trouble shooting guides, YouTube everything. It’s has a USB that came with it all formatted correctly, the firmware is up to date yet you can see how much storage is on the usb device. Yet you try to record live view let alone motion detection it comes up with purchase subscription to record live view? Why when i brought this device to do that. Really Pis**ed off tbh security system that doesn’t record Great!!!
