5.0 out of 5 stars very good reliable headphones
really good headphones! the noise cancellation is better than any other headphones i have tried in the past.they have a comfy fit with padding on the top and the earmuffs so great for using for longer periods of time and are really light so easy to carry round and don’t make your head hurt after too long of wearing.they charge very fast and the battery life lasts very well considering the quality of sound!overall really good value for money, these are my go to headphones :D
5.0 out of 5 stars Comfort/Sound Quality/Noice Cancelling
These have to be by far the best headphones that I have ever purchased, pricy but totally worth it. The sound quality of the headphones is exactly what you would expect from Sony, very high quality, you can choose what sound mode you would like but if anything you can make a custom one on the Sound App.These are really comfortable, your ears aren't left aching like the JBL one that I bought previously, these fit perfectly. The noise cancelling is through the roof, it's gotten to the point where I need to have one eat out to heat people, however, you can also set at what level you want the noise cancellation,All I can say is that these headphones are honestly absolutely mad, these are so unbelievably good.
5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect headphone
After using these for a couple of weeks. Sound quality is just amazing, battery lasts a long time during use, app on the phone controls all the functions and very comfy when using them for a long time. Been using them for both work video calls, gaming, music and gym. All have stood the tests and after a couple of weeks of use, well worth the value!
5.0 out of 5 stars Very good headphones
I really like these headphones, 5 stars all round. I'm very fussy with sound, and for years have refused to abandon mid-range wired earphones, because I have found every time I have tried wireless earphones even that are much more expensive than what I consider mid-range wired earphones they've not been up to scratch at all and the price to quality ratio just leaves you feeling queasy. And I hate(d) wearing headphones. But good wired earphones that last more than a few months with extensive use (and you're not willing to whip out a soldering iron to replace jacks, sections of wire etc) now seem very hard to come by. And if you're spending as much as a properly amazing pair of wireless headphones cost like these (now that I'm lucky enough to be able to), you might as well go with these.I have to say, now I'm over some of my unsure-ness, I certainly do not miss untangling wires, getting stuck on things, and the sound of wires slapping against things bleeding through. All are uncomplicated quality of life improvements brought by wireless.I had previously bought SoundCore Q30s (on sale recently at about half price, pretty good), which I was happy-ish with except the sound wasn't really up to it, though definitely decent, the battery wasn't amazing, and overall the sound quality and battery combined wasn't enough to overcome my dislike of wearing headphones. With these Sony's, initially I was underwhelmed by what noise cancellation can do, as sound still bleeds through. But having reflected on it, I really would not like more than this - it already reminds me a bit too much of a recurring soundless nightmare I have and feels a bit claustrophobic and, if paired with stress, anxiety-raising. So the NC is actually perfect for me I think.Other features I find large gimmicky. Speak to chat - fine, until I personally realise I say a few words out loud to myself sometimes, and this makes the feature too annoying to ever enable. Plus for that to be really useful it would be good if it also triggered if other people spoke, but then that also only works in a largely private and quiet home setting. If that was a feature and anyone had a TV on or you had more than one person living with you, it would interrupt your listening a lot. There is "voice passthrough" but it seems to be not be enable-able if you have it on the automatic ambient sound control stuff, which is the one thing I thought was a gimmick but I turned out to really like; it does a very good job of detecting your activity and so far has never got it wrong enough to bother me.Has "Personal Optimizing" or "Atmospheric Pressure Optimizing" actually done anything? Who knows. DSEE Extreme is for most situations for most people not worth the battery-killing side effects.I have also been slowly but surely been getting used to using the hand gestures on the right headphone. Do your best to get used to this, as being able to pause, skip to next, and enable transparent audio this way is a very useful habit to develop. And as much as I prefer tactility (buttons etc), for headphones these sorts of touch gestures just make more sense, and enable software extension and customisability.Other features I have noticed turn themselves off in the app after some time, but this may be an annoying interaction with Huawei's background app stuff or some other thing not directly related to the app.I still resent the death of wires a bit, and prefer to use ethernet etc when possible, but perhaps as battery technology improves and if wireless charging can ever not be so wasteful and/or pointless it will feel less and less inconvenient. Though hopefully technology companies will start providing more replaceable battery options, as I still don't believe that I'm in some ultra-minority of people who wouldn't happily give up waterproofness and less thin phones and so on for that (at least the Fairphone exists, though the compromises taking into account price are too much for most). Let's stop contributing to the depletion of resources and messing up of the environment as best we can. I don't know how easy the batteries on these are to replace. There are features which require additional accounts and data collection which I do not trust (not that it's going to be anything ultra-concerning, but if you don't transparently - i.e. not buried in some mountain user agreement - tell me the absolute limits of what you're going to do with my data I'm not going to choose to give it to you) and will never enable, so I can't report on those.I still hate wearing headphones, especially ones that are heavy enough like these - my main complaint, as I have sensitive ears and it leaves a big divot in the top of my hair. I know they're not super heavy but I listen to audio for such extended periods I really feel the extra weight in a way I don't with my cheap gaming headset. But I'm over it, more or less, now. And when I can't deal with this, I have learned to tolerate the Sony XB700's I bought which for wireless earphones were good enough on the steep over 50% discount I get them at (though I'll never forgive them for the subtle but awful hiss that developed in the left ear!).
4.0 out of 5 stars Good and worth the hype for the not fussy population
I had been eyeing this headphone for a good year because it was, as we all know it, trending for how good it was. Now that I've been using it for a good month I will give my two cents. The noise cancelation is great. At medium volume it cancels out the low hum bus engines and background chatting in cafes etc., but I can still hear cars going pass and conversations that are going on sitting next to me. If the conversation is happening in a low volume then I can't hear it at all.Obviously at hight volume, or if the room is quiet, I cannot hear anything going on outside, including vehicles and talking. For the noise cancelation reason I don't wear these at night when I am outside by myself because I can't hear anything that is going on around me; can be quite dangerous. Given that though, it has an option to disable the noise cancelation function, which I guess could work (but why use that if I would still look vulnerable with headphones in at night?).The battery life is great. I used it for 12 hours straight once and the battery went from 100% to 70%. I barely need to charge it and I feel like this battery life is lasting me ages. During the one month I've used it, I've only had to charge it twice so far.The right hand side touch functions is handy and gives the headphone a clean touch and look. I fine the touch function sensitivity to be quite dull though. I find I need to touch quite firmly for it to recognize that I touched it. On the other hand, I can lie down on my side with this and it won't pick up the useless touches/contact made as commands. The headphones itself feels sturdy. It is lightweight and doesn't press on the sides too much even with my glasses on so i can use it for hours and it won't hurt. I do prefer a fluffier/more padded earpads though; I noticed that mine are already becoming flatter. The sound quality is standard ngl. Compared to the price, and the type of sound that I like, the melody/higher pitched sounds are more powerful compared to the lower pitched part of music. I would suggest for those who like more bass boosted noise like I do this is not for you. The sound doesn't sound emmersive overall. There's an app that comes with this. You can tweak some functions on there, apparently, to suit your taste, but you have a make an account to do that. Which I am not bothered to sign up for yet, which is why I cannot say anything about that. Tbf if I did sign up etc I think I would be able to get the sound quality I want but for the price I expect things to be easier.I got this when it was on sale at around £199. Let's just say I am glad I got the headphones when it was on sale. Don't get me wrong! I still like the headphones; the quality is great and the sound quality is good too! But if you want, let's say a headphone specifically for noise cancelation then I think there are better ones out there, or if you prefer a specific sound quality or have particular sound preference then for the same price point there are better ones out there.
Dreamy
These headphones transported me into the music. The sound was brilliant and they worked much better than I could ever imagine. They felt so soft and were quite easy to use. Sadly, I have a jaw disorder and the type of fit simply caused too much pain, so I had to return them. This is fully my own issue and they aren’t actually tight or uncomfortable in general. If I didn’t have TMJD, I don’t think I’d ever take these off. I felt like I was in my own wonderland. I miss them all of the time.
Premium
I've used many headphones in low-mid price ranges and always wondered if the premium headphones worth their price. I tried a lot of models in tech stores and decided to go with Sony. The difference between XM4 and XM5 is not that noticable except the design. Considering the price difference, I chose this. I used the headphones for 2 months now and yes, it is worth it. The sound quality is so much better than the cheaper headphones and noticable by an untrained ear. ANC works fine but definetely does not block all the sound if you don't have any music on. I can't list all the features but the app is useful with a lot of options to play with. There is an option to add bass boost without changing the equalizer lines, that sounds best for me. The material quality feels premium but we'll see what happens to the coushins in long term use.
Super produit.
Sony xm4: Yes or No?
It came extremely fast. Thanks for that. After i read hundreds of reviews from a variety of brands, I ended up buying This specific model of Sony and not the new model.Design and comfort are top notch. Noise cancellation is supper good. Not even bother to activate it some times, the coverage it has on my ears is very good. Connection fast and super good. Sound volume is more than Enough for me, and I'm someone that listens to his music as loud as possible. Now, about the sound and it's quality. Bass is there (I'm a bass lover). I had to optimize the sound through the application because the sound they deliver without correction wasn't my style. After an hour of corrections and listening 100s of songs to get the perfect sound for me i came 90% close to the perfect! (Though i believe, super quality sound system they need no corrections! The sound is perfect from the first note) Price is acceptable for what they offer. I do not regret my buying, I'm very happy with it. I didn't go with another brand like JBL or Bose etc because i saw they do not have good customer support. So, i wanted something to last. i own expensive sound systems and I'm very picky and difficult when it comes to sound. So for me, Sony WH1000XM4 is approved! 9/10
