5.0 out of 5 stars The best children's book I've ever bought!
Beautiful illustrations, the pictures really bring the story to life. The flow of the words is very captivating and keeps my daughter intrigued. It also has helps tremendously with her little outbursts. Would recommend to anyone who is struggling with their children's anger!

5.0 out of 5 stars Angry 3yo actually let me read this to him!
I've bought several books now to help my angry 3yo (almost 4) learn to express his anger in a less aggressive way. As soon as he knows what those books are about he tends to disengage. However, this one was a bit of a breakthrough for us. Admittedly it helped that it arrived on a day when we were going to the zoo (top tip for you there!) and he liked to look at the animals and talk about them. Instead of focussing on Nicky's emotions, I changed the slant when reading the story to focus on the animals and the advice they gave ie 'what did the monkey suggest to Nicky?' etc and he was happy to show me the techniques that Nicky was learning from all the animals. He's asked me to read this book to him several times over and I'm hopeful that he's at least absorbing the message even if we've yet to see it being put into practice!!
3.0 out of 5 stars Printed wrong
The story is very well written and is an excellent addition to story time. Epically when teaching children about their emotions. However the entire story was printed back to front. Which when teaching young children about reading is a little confusing for them. I presume this was done so in error and the product I received was defective? Which is a shame as it was an otherwise good story.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book
Helped my child understand anger and will help her with her emotions going forward
Quality of pages
(function(){ P.when('cr-A', 'ready').execute(function(A) { if(typeof A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel === 'function'){ A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel('review_text_read_more', 'Read more of this review', 'Read less of this review'); } }); })() Quality of pages are really low. If adult also read it. It is not going to last long.
Total Genial
Awesome book, don't listen to negative reviews
I am glad I bought this book despite the few negative reviews. Fist off the writing and rhyming complaints are silly. Its not a doctor sues book for cripes sake. I had no issues with reciting the words written. The book does a excellent job being written in an age appropriate way and giving great advice on managing your anger. It also points out that you can feel angry and sad at the time which is important for kids to understand. I see nothing wrong with how the book is written. As far as another complaint I saw in the reviews about the ending, there was nothing wrong with it. At the end the boy thinks over what his mom said and decides she was right. He then goes to her and apologizes to his mom. She tells him she's proud and rewards him with a toy. Why would you not reward that behavior? You'd want your child to repeat those behaviors in the future right? I have absolutely rewarded my daughter for stuff like this. Because she remembers those rewards we haven't had any meltdowns at the store anymore. My sister is a child therapist and something helpful she has pointing out is that you have to react immediately or very shortly after. So if your kid is naughty its not appropriate to put them in time out the next day right. Same with rewards, you see good behavior then praise or reward that child right then and there.Definitely give this a go, I'd recommend it. It kept my 6 year old daughter engaged and she isn't really into books. She didn't even give up halfway through like she sometimes does. The illustrations are beautiful and I think kids can relate with the storyline. I know I could relate to wanting a Koala!
Great for all ages - with positive/practical messages
We love this book and are thrilled to hear it will become a series. It’s a great sized book ( not too long or too short). The book provides some really age appropriate insightful options to deal with anger. We really enjoyed the setting of book. It would be great if each new book included a new setting, an aquarium, a science world/ activity place, a museum. It allows children especially in areas without these facilities the ability to grow up with a visual understanding of what a zoo is.We especially love that it’s a Canadian author!! My husband and I really appreciate the practical messaging provided in the book, emotions are hard especially for children regardless of gender so the more literature there out there for children about emotions the better
Great Story for Kids
This story was perfect, perfect, perfect! The colors are bold and beautiful, it is a catchy rhyming story so it tends to always draw a child’s attention if read right, and it is set in a zoo with animals which is also brilliant because what child doesn’t love animals? Especially talking ones!! My grandson is 6 and has anger issues since he was an infant; yes an infant?! Even his pediatrician couldn’t believe it when he seen him throwing a tantrum in his carrier b4 he could walk or talk… but he really engaged in this story and also commented on all the things I pointed out, like he didn’t know monkeys knew how to do yoga when they get angry or do the deep breaths like grandma teaches him!! That’s cool he said!! A must read to kids with anger issues… 10 stars if you ask me for the little guys and girls
