5.0 out of 5 stars Was sceptical at first- now I’m a convert
If your oil filter is mounted at the top of your engine then oil sucking is a no brainer. You can perform an oil change without scrabbling about under the car, keep your clothes clean and do the job at home saving a lot of money. This Shoze extractor is a great product and a wise investment. Easy to use, strong and effective. My only gripe is that it is a bit fiddle to clean, but that could just be me.RegardsE.R.
5.0 out of 5 stars Good quality. Well built. Easy to Use.
Excellent tool. Well made and covers every aspect of fluid removal.
4.0 out of 5 stars It's OK for an occasional user
This is the cheapest tool of its type with a 7L tank. Now I don’t need a 7l tank however at this size it is taller and so less bending over in use. The hoses it comes with are fine but could do with being 30cm longer. The fitting to the tank kept pulling out in use as it had to reach over the engine bay.I used it to syphon power steering fluid which it di just fine. That’s all I bought it for, to use once. Now I have it I suspect other uses for draining fluid away from places will present themselves. Clearly you don’t want to use it for oil and then you fish pond so you may need two of them if those are the jobs you are doing. It was easy to use, it worked, it was stable on the ground and the little stirrup foot peg was adequate to stabilise it while operating it. Possibly not suitable for use in a pro workshop where I think you might get fed up with the hose popping out but fine for light domestic use.
5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic labour saving piece of kit
Honestly if you are thinking of buying this to save time and mess doing oil changes, just do it. I have only so far used it twice, but it is dead easy to use and very effective. Just make sure your engine oil is warm. It takes very little time (about 15 mins) and is so satisfying to do, as it saves mess and having to remove the undertray and get under the car, you could do your oil change in a white shirt and gloves.
5.0 out of 5 stars very good pump
This pump is very good, I use it for a second year and it is doing fantastic jobs. Saves me hundreds of pounds for annual servicing, I only pay for the filter and the oil (no more than 20 pounds) and do the rest myself.
3.0 out of 5 stars My One Exploded !!!
The suction is fast and powerful. But mine exploded due to pressure.Oil everywherebut good product if you manage to get a none leaking one.
5.0 out of 5 stars Pure awesomeness
If you work on your own car, you need one of these. Especially if you have a car that’s designed for it, like Jaguar, but it can be used on any car. Attach the hose to the oil extraction pipe (or use the smaller hose down the dipstick tube), give it a few pumps and presto. Oil gone. It needs a few more pumps while it’s going, but 5 or 10 mins and complete. Just enough time to change the rest of the filters. No dirty hands, no drips, easy pour spout to get rid of the spent oil. It’s great. I’ll never touch another drain plug in my life. Warm the engine first though. It makes the oil flow better. Oh, I’ve used it twice now and have put it to the test due to my scepticism, and I can tell you that it removes 100% of the old oil. My car says 6.6L oil capacity, it sucked 7L out. I thought the markers on the side probably are not accurate, but when I put 7L back in, the oil level was exactly where it used to be. So it defo does a good job.
5.0 out of 5 stars It has worked perfectly
With engines which have oil filters accessible from the top, I would probably never do it the conventional way again. It saves time from jacking the car up, removing the undertray, placing a tray underneath the car hoping nothing will drip outside of it, still having to poor it afterwards into a container, risking some extra dripping on the floor.Even with cars where you still need to jack it up to remove the oil filter, the other benefits mentioned above are still there.Regarding its reach, you can either use just one pipe directly between the pump and the dipsticktube, or use a large pipe provided as an extension pipe, connecting the pump to the one you will be using inside the dipstick tube.So there's no need to raise the pump up for extra reach.Another great thing was that as you pump it, it keeps negative pressure inside the container, so once you pump it a few times, you can start doing the extra work (oil filter, air filter, etc) whilst the oil is being sucked automatically, with just a few extra pumps here and there to keep the flow going. Also, as you don't touch the oil at all as you would normally do when draing it through the sump plug, you can start draining the oil with the engine boiling hot, allowing a very fast flow due to the lower viscosity. So in general I found it easier, faster and cleaner than the standard method. As an ex-VW Tech, who's done thousands of oil changes over the years, I couldn't see any disadvantage of this pumping method over the standard one.Veredict: I was happy with it and recommend it.
