This is a fantastic lens. When used with a full frame camera (I use the R6 MkII) it's easily the most versatile and capable prime lens you can get for anywhere near this price range.I think this is a perfect starting point for any newbie, and is also perfect for honing skulls further if you're an enthusiast. It helps you to focus on composition and the use of the aperture to get different effects. It's very light, but still robust enough to easily sit in a bag and get swapped out regularly.The focus mechanism does create a bit of noise, but I've never found it too distracting. It may need consideration if you're using it as a film lense. But build quality is excellent and it's easily the best looking of canon's 50mm lenses of the past.You can't go wrong with it, give it a go!

Personally, I love this lens and is by far my favourite in my collection. It's lightweight, looks great, quality is fantastic and is compact (small enough to fit in your pocket) so can be taken anywhere with ease unlike many other lenses. It feels very expensive and premium to use so clearly made form high end parts. I use it on my canon R8 and I use it the most out of all my lenses. The auto focus is brilliant with it being fast and making the image look extremely high quality and crispOverall, I'd say this is brilliant for any photographer ranging from beginner to the professional level.

All photographers should have a nifty fifty for those portrait/street photographer needs. They are light, don't take up much room and are very fast with a 1.8 aperture. However, please don't expect professional quality and remember that these are very cheap lenses so the quality is not as sharp as the RF50mm 1.2 USM. But the latter lens is £2k more expensive, so unless you really need the extra quality, then the RF50mm 1.8 STM is an absolute bargain.

This RF 50 mm F1.8 lens known as low cost good value lens has worked as expected. High quality product for sharp images. It is very compact and light weight. Good for standard view angle shooting. Offers shallow focus depth and background blur for closer objects. Good for portraits and lower light conditions, however note that it does not have image stabiliser, and shorter exposure times needed for hand held photos. I use this lens with a hood bought separately.

Great quality lens.I advise you get a UV filter to protect the end of the lens but it's great.I love to use it for portraits. I am able to focus on someone's closest eye eye but have the edge of their face beginning to fade out and the background will be totally blurred.Love it.Seems good quality.
