5.0 out of 5 stars These are fantastic!
Plasterboard has been the bane of my life for years when it comes to fitting things to walls. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve drilled and fitted a standard rawlplug only for it to push through when I put the screw in or for it to not grip and then just spin making it impossible to secure the screw. I have tried multiple other fittings that expand behind the plasterboard but these require a large hole to be drilled in the wall which isn’t ideal. These are so simple and so effective and don’t need a drill at all. You simply screw the plug in and then put the screw in to that. The whole process takes seconds and they support a lot of weight. I had a shelf in our utility room with two sets of golf clubs on it which had been put up with standard rawlplugs and was coming away from the wall. I refit this with these and it’s rock solid. They will be a permanent addition to my tool box from now on. Highly recommend.
5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent value for the price
After getting fed up with buying the crap from B&Q, I decided to give these a try.. Absolutely brilliant, strong and sharp. Highly recommend...
4.0 out of 5 stars My favourite wall plugs for lightweight jobs
The GTSE 100 Pack Self-Drill Metal Plasterboard Fixings are very good and come complete with screws. For lightweight jobs (hanging pictures, etc), these are my favourite wall plugs. Being self-tapping, all you need is a phillips screwdriver to insert the plug in the wall where you need it (make sure there are no wooden studs at that position by using a stud finder), then the same screwdriver for the screw. These plugs are made from an alumininium alloy, so are light but strong, much better than the plastic ones, in my opinion. For some reason, the plasterboard in my house is more crumbly than most other plasterboards I've encountered, so I do not continue to tighten the plug when I see and feel that it is fully inserted into the plasterboard and that leaves a little more torque that can be applied to the screw when tightening. If I over-stress the plug, it rips through the plaster and creates a hole, rather than a fixing. If I'm hanging anything weighing more than a few Kgs, I use a butterfly bolt through a pre-drilled hole. If a plug does make a hole in the plasterboard, rather than a tight connection, I can open the hole up and use a butterfly bolt to complete the job, but this is much more fiddly than a simple plug.I usually nip round to the hardware shop and buy plasterboard fixings as I need them, so the unit price of this 100 pack is less than the equivalent ones I buy in the shop, but not by as much as I would have expected. Although the quality is good, I think they could have had a better quantity discount.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great for plaster board
Simple and easy to use item. After using some inferior plastic rawl plugs I went for these, they simply screw (hand screw driver is recommended,) into the plaster board and using one of the provided screws easily hold pictures shelves and other items on the wall perfectly and I have no worries about them not being strong enough to hold some serious weight. Without screwing into the wood behind the wall I would expect them to hold everything upto a TV
5.0 out of 5 stars Ideal for plasterboard walls.
I use the all the time when using on plasterboard walls and never had a failure. I recommend this product for anyone mounting anything on plasterboard walls.
3.0 out of 5 stars OK but probably could do better.
Yes they work and on the thinner plasterboard they are a solution.BUT the screws don\t screw in the full length and sometime they are stiff perhaps clogged up with plaster dust. This means you have the option to shear the screw or back off possibly pulling out the fitting leaving a big hole and screw stuck in fitting.Don't get me wrong I have used a few now and many worked well enough but in other situations I could not properly tighten the item down properly.THESE WERE NOT ENTIRELY SATISFACTORY BECAUSE OF THE ABOVE ISSUE.
5.0 out of 5 stars BRILLIANT
I love these, so easy to use and are super robust.Thoroughly recommend
4.0 out of 5 stars Good, strong plasterboard fixings, with no need for a drill
These are good, tough fixings. They can be secured in platerboard with nothing more than a screwdriver, and come with matching screws, which suit a variety of applications. They're also easier to remove than some types of plasterboard hardware.Recommended.
