An absolute masterpiece
An entry from Polk that begs the question to as why they aren’t taken more seriously. A testament to their ability to engineer a premium speaker for less, the R600 has everything you love from Polk and more. Not as stylish in the lifestyle aspect of the Elite Signature line, what you get here in visual ascetics is one thing: intimidation. If the sound doesn’t leave you breathless, the sharpness in design of these will. Extremely solid construction and precise engineering give you the best speaker you can buy for less than $2K… even more. Prepare for a beast in all the best ways.I’ve have had the T, Monitor XT, and the Elite Signature lines. The ES line fantastic in its own right and a step above all its lower tiers, so instead of comparing sound in terms of where the ES line falls short (which is hardly noticeable), I’ll tell you what the Reserve line does so much better to justify the price. The level of bass these produce is amazing. It’s not just the overall feeling of a lot of bass, it’s the punch and perfection of it. It captures the wobble of a kick drum head, the lowest key from a piano resonates proudly, and the audible pluck from a bass guitar. No distortion from the midrange and low end…. I dare you to attempt to drive these to distortion, your amp will quit before these do. Something the previous line would start to fall off with much much sooner.Crystalline highs without being piercing, despite what you’d expect from a tweeter with a puncture warning (don’t touch or buy bandaids). Extremely effective and decently forward with the voice. Everything comes together to produce a more vivid and 3D soundstage. It sounds vast across the room and deep into what would feel like a literal stage; life like sound contributes to the feeling of a live performance despite the album.I run these from a Yamaha A4A. Plenty of power is key here. Don’t expect to run these with a mid range or lower. 100W a channel is your benchmark. Definitely nothing lower than 90W. Let them crawl before they walk or you’ll pop your sensitive tweeter (just advice, I haven’t experienced this as I warmed them up for hours before letting them drive). BOY, DO THEY DRIVE! Essentially, they are mini Legend series. So, pair with power, let them take your music and movies to unimaginable heights, and enjoy these beasts. Polk is not to be scoffed at when they put these on the market.
AMAZING Speakers. Crystal clear highs & punchy in your face mids/lows!!
These speakers are undoubtedly worth much more than the retail price listed. These can easily compete with speakers that are much above their price point. While playing a variety of EDM, I was able to push the volume very high and received zero distortion. Everything came out clean. Highs were angelic and crystal clear and the mids and lows were in your face punchy and room shaking. Although there was good punchy bass, you still need a subwoofer to reach the lower 30's and below.Last thing to note is these are pretty heavy. I was originally going to get the R700's, but stopped because of the size of my bedroom. These will have no problem filling your room with great sound. Unless you want the most premium quality build and largest size with the R700's, the R600's will go above and beyond.I am in love with these speakers!!!
I like it
Beautiful look and sound. They're definitely look more expensive than your regular Polk. And heavier. Even the packaging inside-out is more protective than the regular Polks. I wanted to go for the R700, but it would have been a bit of overkill. They sound a bit boomy, even though I use them in crossover with a subwoofer. I'm waiting for them to break in, but they sound great already. Good job Polk.P. S. Don't buy them from Bolo, for me it was a complete disaster!
Audiophile speakers for less price
I had ELAC Debut bookshelf speakers and i wanted to replace with good tower speakers for my theater. I shortlisted few including B&W 7 series, Klipsch r8000 series. I read through good reviews for Polk reserve series. I got these on sale. These are solidly built and worth a lot more than what i paid for. I especially like the down firing bass port. These helps to avoid unwanted resonances in my theater. It has good high, mid range and low frequency response. But if you want super low effects to watch movies, you need a sub or get R700
speakers are very good - outside shipper with last mile was not
Packing was pretty much destroyed by shipper but the speaker survived ans is ver good indeed.
