About this item:
World-leading energy gel optimised with a new carbohydrate ratio part of an entire world-leading fuelling solution range that includes drinks and chews, our Beta fuel dual source energy gel is optimised with a brand new 1: 0.8 ratio of 40g carbohydrate to enhance your power output, increase your body's carbohydrate usage efficiency, and limit gastrointestinal discomfort to deliver a scientifically superior fuel. Why you should use Beta fuel dual source energy gel as an endurance athlete (your events typically last more than two hours) You need to take in between 80-120g of carbohydrate per hour. The Science in Sport Beta fuel dual source energy gel delivers an optimised 40g of carbohydrate in a single, convenient fuelling solution with minimal risk of GI discomfort that enables you to maintain optimal performance. New 1: 0.8 ratio replaces 2: 1 ratio A 1: 0.8 ratio of maltodextrin to fructose increases the percentage of ingested carbohydrate that is oxidized (known as efficiency) from 62% to 74% when compared with a ratio of 2: 1 a 1: 0.8 ratio of maltodextrin to fructose reduces self-reported symptoms of stomach fullness when compared with a ratio of 2: 1 The science behind Beta fuel has evolved through our performance solutions team, we have worked closely with Elite athletes in the research and development of the new Beta fuel range to bring you a scientifically superior fuel in a range of formats that allow you to use +17% more carbohydrate (O'Brien et al, 2013). A ratio of 1: 0.8 enhances exogenous CHO oxidation compared with 2: 1 ratio by 17% (O'Brien et al) and 10% (O'Brien et al) a ratio of 1: 0.8 enhances mean power output during 10 maximal sprint efforts by 3% compared with 2: 1 ratio (O'Brien et al) a ratio of 1: 0.8 increases % of ingested CHO that was oxidised (efficiency) from 62% (2: 1) to 74% (1: 0.8) (O'Brien et al) a ratio of 1: 0.8 Reduces symptoms of stomach fullness and nausea when compared with a ratio of 2: 1 (O'Brien et al) how and when to use Beta fuel dual source energy gel each gel contains 40 grams of carbohydrate. Depending on your sport or event, you should aim to consume 1-3 gels every hour during exertion to reach an 80g-120g target intake. In some circumstances, such as cold weather, it may be necessary to consume more. Simply tear off the top of the packaging and squeeze the contents into your mouth as and when required. Consume directly from packaging combine with other energy supplements from the Beta fuel range to achieve HOURLY 80-120g carbohydrate intake.

5.0 out of 5 stars My most used gels
This was a great deal so I pounced on the chance, these gels are my most used gels for my long runs because they are 40grams carbs, not many gels out there that offer this amount of carbs. Recommend if you are looking for more carbs in a gel with a decent taste.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great
These do the job and taste great
5.0 out of 5 stars Great gels
I have finally found the best gels for me. Tried a number of different ones but after taking these I know that I’ll using them for training and during my marathon. Kept me topped up throughout my long runs, they taste great and very gentle on the stomach. Can’t recommend them enough. Only tried the orange flavour though but I’ll be sticking to that.
4.0 out of 5 stars Great product, tricky design
Great product for long distance and high intensity activities. The orange taste is pretty good and similar to the isotonic one, but it felt a bit sweeter. As mentioned by others, it’s quite tricky to get it open with your teeth… Overall, I recommend it and will definitely use in future competitions
5.0 out of 5 stars Fuel
Great flavour, great on bike fueling.
5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely spot on.
Used these for the first time the weekend. Essentially their jelly wrapped in sugar! But they do the trick.
3.0 out of 5 stars Heavy on the carbs, but also your stomach.
Positives:Science in Sport Beta Fuel Gels deliver a substantial energy boost, thanks to their higher calorie and carbohydrate content compared to the original gels. This makes them particularly effective for sustaining energy during long runs. The orange flavor is a notable improvement over the original non-beta version. The Beta Gel's sour orange taste is refreshing and much more palatable, avoiding the overly sweet profile that can be off-putting during intense exercise.Negatives:However, these benefits come at a cost. The Beta Fuel Gels are significantly more expensive than the non-beta version, which might make regular use less feasible for some athletes. Additionally, the Beta Gels weigh considerably more, adding to the load you're carrying during long runs. They are also much thicker and harder to swallow, which can be a real issue if, like me, you run half marathons without water. Unlike the originals, these gels don't relieve a dry throat, making them less ideal for hydration management during prolonged runs. This extra weight, combined with their heavy consistency, can be tough on the stomach. I've experienced an urgent need for the toilet during runs with the Beta Gel, an issue I never had with the original non-beta version.Overall, Science in Sport Beta Fuel Gels provide an effective and tasty energy boost, but their higher cost, increased weight, thicker consistency, and potential for digestive discomfort may be drawbacks for some users. If you can handle the downsides, they are a strong option for endurance athletes looking for that extra push
2.0 out of 5 stars Great in theory, but poor experience with the brand.
These taste just like the standard SiS orange gels, with 20g carbs per 60ml, but are quite a bit sweeter. The consistency is a tiny bit thicker, like a sticky gel, not watery at all. Also not chewy. However, in years of using gels, I’ve never had one “leak” at the seams. In the box of 30, there were 2 that had exploded in transit, leaking over the entire box contents. Then during the course of a few runs, I found that about 30% of them were leaking from the side and bottom seams - really poor quality control! I checked all of the others, and this 30% is consistent across the whole package.SiS didn’t want to know - they just said speak to Bolo. Obviously Bolo are the retailer here so that’s where my contract lies, but I thought that SiS would take some interest in resolving potential quality issues. The gels themselves do seem to work though, and if you find you need extra fuel on longer runs/cycles, the 0.8:1 mix of sugars here does make a difference, but you may need to get your stomach used to the different mix.
Great product
Easy to use. No need for water as the gel is liquidy enough. The taste is decent. Will order against.
Gasolina inmediata
Una textura de las mejores que he probado, junto a un efecto rápido y buen sabor, hacen de este gel el que más me gusta. La caja me llegó abierta y con 29 unidades.
These have expiry dates
Keep in mind that the product you receive may only be good for another two or three months vs fresh from factory product more than a year.
The amount of sugar in each packet
Personally, for my tastes the product contains too much sugar. If you need to be careful with the amount of sugar that you consume then be sure to read the ingredients carefully, especially the amount of each ingredient.I am sure that the product is a good choice for most people.
