5.0 out of 5 stars Ikeener Red Light Therapy
This product was sent to me to review, as part of Bolo Vine. Below is my own real-world experience of using it.As I suffer with chronic back and hip pain, I’m always on the lookout for alternative pain-relief options. I was particularly drawn to the Ikeener set, due to its compact size, and ease of operation. In terms of quality, the torch has a solid, metal body that has been finished to a high standard. It is comfortable to hold, due to the textured design providing more grip. It’s also very lightweight. There are two batteries included, and a compatible charger - the charger can be a little fiddly to get the batteries in to, but it works well. Each battery seems to last a while - I have had at least 10 minutes use out of them, without running out of charge.I directed the light towards different areas of my skin, holding it for between 10-30 seconds at a time. I appreciate that this could be completely psychological, but I did feel reduced pain in those areas, after use. Even though it may take longer to use initially, I quite like the idea of the torch vs. a TENS machine, as I find TENS pads can move around and cause a nuisance. Once you’re finished using the torch, that’s it until you need it again.Overall, a good value item which is also handy for travelling with.

Awful, charger wouldn't charger so can't recharge the specialised batteries
4.0 out of 5 stars Compact battery-powered red light therapy torch
This iKeener red light therapy torch has a textured metallic body and looks smart and businesslike. It comes with two plain, non-standard-size batteries. Despite the instructions implying that you have to put both batteries in, there is actually only room for one, so the other is presumably a spare. The batteries need charging before you can use them. A rather flimsy USB charger is provided for this purpose, with a light that turns from red to green once the battery is fully charged. You then put the battery into the torch, which I found a fiddly procedure requiring a bit of trial and error. The device then works like a torch with a single on-off button at the end. You place it directly over the area you are treating for up to a minute, then move on to the next area. Personally I have used it to treat my shoulders and ankles. I have noticed some benefit in terms of pain relief, although it is difficult to know how much of this is psychological. I will persevere, though.Overall, if you want to try red light therapy without paying a fortune, this little device could fit the bill. But I definitely wouldn't expect miracles from it. Four stars from me.
3.0 out of 5 stars Red Light Spells …. Issues
I must admit that I approached this item with a degree of scepticism but given that I have an assortment of aching arthritic joints, I’m happy to try anything. In terms of manufacture and presentation, this is an impressive item. It’s machine tooled to an excellent, sturdy standard, with serrated and easy-grip metal. The problem I have is the supposed investment of time required. I could spend hours using it on my knees, hips, back, necks and hand on a daily basis. Naturally, I don’t have the time or commitment. It simply isn’t the sort of device that can be used in this way - it would be far better mounted in a stand that could be pointed in the required direction and then ignored as you watch TV or read a book.As a result, I’ve concentrated usage on just a small area - the palm of my left hand, which flares up below the thumb. Surprisingly, I find that if I apply the light to this area for a minute or so, I receive two or three times that length in relief. So will a targeted 30 minutes put me right for a couple of hours? Seems to be a lot of effort for such a limited time response. OK, I realise that I need to experiment more but the reality is that I’m happy to pay for a professional massage across the whole body, where I don’t have to do the work. However, I realise, that some may be unable to afford such a luxury.I would also like to take issue with the use of the word “laser” in the description. I don’t believe that it is - the light is very powerful and concentrated but does not transmit a red beam for any real distance. If you have the money and need to address just one problem, this neat little device might fit the bill. That said, keep an open mind and don’t expect miracles.
5.0 out of 5 stars Handy portable pain relief
I am new to the whole concept of light therapy for pain.I like that this device is lightweight, well-made with good-quality materials, and, thanks to being powered by a battery, there is no cable, making it easily portable. I can use it anywhere around my home or when I am out travelling.Because it is small and designed to move around small areas, I am using it for my hands, feet, and any muscle pain on my arms or legs. It is not the best solution for back pain, especially if you do not have a second person to help you with holding the little torch-looking device pointed at your back. The instructions are a bit confusing, but it is basically stated to hold the device in one place for between 30 and 60 seconds and then to move it to the next problem area and repeat. The maximum time to use it is no more than thirty minutes at any one time. I haven't tried using it for that long yet, so I am not sure how well the battery would last, but the set came with two batteries, so it should have enough power for the longer therapy sessions. The infrared light therapy process can be quite time-consuming, as it can be done up to three times a day over many weeks to get the most out of the therapy. It is a shame that there is no timer built into the device, which would make it easier to measure the treatment duration. After having had pain for many years, I am happy to try something new, and being able to sit down and focus on my feeling better appeals to me greatly.
