4.0 out of 5 stars Updated after using product
****Update 30.04.23****After using the product for a couple of weeks I have decided to update my original review as follows:Trip hazard - in practice this is not the case, yes the edges do not sit flush, however, the cable channel material is very soft and malleable, so it does not catch the feet as expected, as you step on it it just conforms to the shape of your foot, I have been using it since receiving and so far I’m pleasantly surprise that this hasn’t been an issue. After a couple of days it did lie completely flat.On reflection it’s not fair to compare it to cable covers used in a work environment, these are at a completely different price point, perhaps 4 times the cost of this, for the price it’s actually not bad. I wish the cable retention was better but so far my tape modification is holding up well.So in summary after a few weeks use I have concluded for the price it is fit for purpose, if you want an office quality cover, be prepared to pay much more, for most home applications this one is more than adequate, hence I have increased my rating from 2 to 4 stars (1 star off for the cable retention)Original review as posted:As tFirst the safety aspect, as can be seen in the photos it does not sit flush on the floor and stands off by at least 10mm along the entirety of both edges causing a significant trip hazard. The next issue is the cable channel, the opening is too wide and the rubber lip too soft to retain the cable which then hangs outside of the cable tidy, I had to run some heavy duty tape along the complete length to contain the cable, I shouldn’t have to modify a product to get it to fulfil its primary function, it should work out of the box.The final issue is, it curls up at both ends but this is due to the fact that it has to be rolled up for shipping, so not a direct criticism of the product , I guess with time it would go flat again, but it’s not ideal and on top of the other problems…In summary it’s not fit for purpose (retaining a cable) and it creates a trip hazard.I have used many of these in office environments and have to say this is the worst I have seen, I’m not impressed and would not recommend
5.0 out of 5 stars Safety first
I have an old space invaders table in the muffle of the floor and a 6 year old Grandson … recipe for disaster. This is heavy and he slot on the back allowed for 3m of cable to the socket. The only negative is kids don’t keep their feet still on a tiled floor while playing so I was constant realigning it. In the end I covered the underside with black duct tape… job done and fun doesn’t stop 😉
5.0 out of 5 stars No more trip hazards
Living in an old house we have limited outlets. We had to connect the power for the router on one end of the room, and the phone line on the opposite side. This has been great to prevent any tripping hazards. It came with lots and lots of zip ties that have been useful for other projects.
3.0 out of 5 stars things to consider before you buy...
Firstly, it's a nice idea. For a long thin cable it works quite well. The points noted by other reviewers however should be borne in mind. I bought enough for three applications. On the first two it clearly curls up at the ends. I had to devise some sort of clip to hold the ends down. This sorted, it held a television mains cable quite flat, exactly as it is designed to do. Another cable, a fairly standard flex attached to a fan heater, faired less well. Persuading the cable to stay inside the groove, as intended, worked reasonably well, but the product doesn't stay completely flat with it inside. I may have to look for alternatives for the third application. If you want to stop the cable slipping out and also keep the product flat, a good quality gel tape seems to do the trick. Due to the rubberised material, duct tape for instance comes off too easily. Although gel tape can usually be removed without damage, it's not ideal for gripping carpet. This is not a cheap product. I can't help thinking that a more rigid structure might have worked rather better; but if you can overcome the shortcomings it looks ok and does the job after a fashion.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great product
Reasonably priced can easily be cut to size and very durable
4.0 out of 5 stars Does the job
Keeps your cable out the way and not tripping over it. Designed for two cables so when using one it's a little loose, but does the job well.Easy to use, will take day or two to start to lay perfectly flat. You don't really notice it's there.
5.0 out of 5 stars Good customer service
Where it's rolled up the inner end was unusable had to cut it off would not lay flat.I have now edited my review for this product I was contacted and have resolved my issues, great customer service.
