5.0 out of 5 stars KISS DESTROYS DONINGTON!
After a slightly disappointing second release in the Soundboard series, this one recorded at the bands headlining performance at Donington ‘96, is a cracking return to form! The band sound great and the audio is excellent - so good to get a soundboard of this Klassik Kiss show! The only grumble is that the packaging of this series is so boring…Not enough to knock a star off though! Buy this one…the best of the series so far!
5.0 out of 5 stars great sound

5.0 out of 5 stars YOU WANTED THE BEST
Absolute classic from the greatest band ever to take the stage.
3.0 out of 5 stars Official Bootleg volume 3 : Donington 1996. 3.5 stars
So far this series has been less than inspiring, volume 1,interesting for the short lived line up but not perfect,Volume 2 decent sound but Stanley's vocals appalling and now this,Volume 3 from Donington '96.I'd love to say its a 5 star classic,it isnt,i already had a bootleg cd of most of this show so i had an idea what i was getting, still its a bit underwhelming...The sound is pretty good, certainly better than the bootleg but once again the we have the solo spts left in,they might be great at the time with the smoke/flames/lights and explosions but in the cold light of day listening back, they aint that interesting and truth be told they are pretty awful. The set list is decent with an enjoyable opening of 'Duece/King Of The Nighttime World' but over the course of the 2 discs its performance fluctuates.Peter's drumming sounds plodding and nowher near the levels he had back in the day and Ace is his usual sloppy self.We have seen this already of course over the later Kissology dvd;s. So its another average /ok release, dont see it selling to the the masses only completists like myself.Have to be honest after 3 releases, this series has yet to catch fire and i was considering ditching any further releases until they are lower in price, however given they have announced Des Moines 1977 as the next release, the original band in their heyday and at their peak, then i will no doubt shell out again. As with the first2 releases buy this with caution.
3.0 out of 5 stars The most likely warm band in the world.
I saw Kiss on this tour as it was the original line up. I saw the first Kiss gig in the UK at The Free Trade Hall. This is a case of looking through rose tinted glasses. Kiss has always been about the show experience. They have some absolute classic songs in their back catalogue. The one thing I remember about the re-union gig is that Ace Frehley was just about getting through the gigs and his playing sounded very "fragile". There are places in this recording where it sounds like he is very nervous or just doesn't remember some parts. It's a shame as I wanted to listen to this and smile at a great band at it's best. Unfortunately that is not the case. For whatever reason Frehley lost that spark he had in the beginning. He was never the best guitar player but he played some iconic riffs and solos. Here his playing is OK best. The songs deserve better.
