5.0 out of 5 stars Useful monitor with free app data

    A.o.O. · 12 February 2025

(function(){ P.when('cr-A', 'ready').execute(function(A) { if(typeof A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel === 'function'){ A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel('review_text_read_more', 'Read more of this review', 'Read less of this review'); } }); })() Not had any problems with it and luckily avoided the recent update issues. It has a much better breakdown of activity (although I still hate the new app layout) than my vivosmart 4 on which the strap gave up, and at least I can replace the strap easily on this model. It gives me enough data to manage my CFS and energy levels, as well as a comprehensive breakdown of sleeping patterns. The watch display is rather small and doesn’t have too many customisable features, but I mainly use the (free) app to monitor the data I need.

4.0 out of 5 stars Reliable but maybe a bit dated - good free app

Third time lucky? This is the third watch I've tried after a leading brand whose app died and a brand that matched my phone whose battery died 2months in. In both cases Bolo support fabulous - leading brand helpful but powerless, phone people hopeless. Garmin is the other big name in this sector so I gave it a whirl. I didn't want anything too huge on my wrist so went for vivosmart5.It is similar to bands I've had from the other leading brand. It's a bit more pricey though and a bit less functional - no timer, no choice of face, slightly worse battery life doing about 5 days with autowake off but most other functionality on.No problems with phone connection - both the other brands were temperamental. I really like the app - lots of data, lots to customise.Like all watches it's step counting is a little inaccurate. It does do GPS tracking of walks which is a new thing for me. I've swum a few times. Waterproofing seems fine and you can just about operate it with wet hands. It doesn't autodetect swimming so you have to set it off as you start. Length counts are a bit out but you can pull up a graph in the app and see how many lengths have taken twice or half as long and work it out.I use alerts for texts and calls - you get full message of text on band. I also use the alarm - you can only set this from the app, but it is silent if you need to rise without disturbing partner. I just wish there was an on band timer - handy for cooking. Lots of ways to customise data to view on band but I use app more.Strap is a bit plasticy - I saw a report suggesting we should wear silicone to avoid forever chemicals. It does up comfortably and easily. I've only had irritation when I've got moisture underneath I've failed to dry.It just has a proprietary to C cable supplied. Happily my phone brand dead one had required I buy a C charger (or you can charge from phone) so that was not wasted. Charger plugs into physical port behind watchface - not magnetic like many newer ones.Overall it seems to do most of what I need reliably. It just feels a bit behind the times, especially for the money, so four stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars A good buy

Very happy with my Vivosmart 5. Does everything I need. Gives a bit more detail than the 4, ie more analytical sleep. Strap comfortable. Battery lasts at least five days.

5.0 out of 5 stars Can't say a bad word.

I cant fault it. Does everything I need from it. Is it the most sophisticated smartwatch/ fitness tracker? Absolutely not. But it is adequate for my needs.HR and sleep tracking both seem to be pretty accurate.I would recommend buying the larger strap though. My wrists are small and it can be a faff with the smaller one.

1.0 out of 5 stars Useless for Running

    A.C. · 17 January 2023

This is the first 'smartwatch' I've bought so didn't know what to expect. Having used it for 6 weeks I can now say it is absolutely useless for measuring your heart rate when running. It grossly overestemates the heart rate. For example, I have an old Nike chest heart rate monitor which tells me my my running heart rate is between 90 and 110bpm. The Vivosmart 5 says 130 to 150bpm. If that were true I'd be coughing up blood. In fact I'm not even breathing heavy. I think the device is picking up my cadence rhythm rather than heart rate. I've also compared it to a blood pressure monitor after a run. Again it was off by 40bpm!I've tried wearing the watch on the left and right arms, tight and loose. It still over estimates the heart rate. When walking or using the exercise bike the Vivosmart 5 works ok, the values match the chest band monitor (although one 4k walk had me down as walking faster than Roger Bannister's four minute mile! But sadly when running I have no idea what it's doing. How it measures your sleep quality is beyond me also. After a poor night's sleep it tells me my sleep score is 92. After a great sleep it gives me a score of 41 explaining my late night activity (running I hasten to add) impacted my sleep quality...Having had a triple heart bypass last year is my excuse for being somewhat over critical of it's poor performance when measure running heart rate. In Garmin's favour, the Connect app is a good motivator although at times it can increase your stress levels with some of its bugs.

3.0 out of 5 stars Really poor battery life

    B.L.C. · 2 January 2024

Love the watch as it is much smaller and more comfortable than the Venu Sq I had. It seems to record the data well enough but the battery needs charging every two days. I don't carry my phone around the house with me and I regularly get 'phone disconnected ' and then 'phone connected' messages on the screen throughout the day which cannot help the battery life. I cannot find a setting to stop these messages. I didn't get them at all with my Venu Sq but that was simply too big for my arm and acting as a ligature. Feel a bit stuck, as I love the size of this and the comfort on my wrist, no problems there. I don't wear it at night, so can't comment.

    DO NOT BUY

I finally spent all morning chatting with 4 different people at customer support, none of whom were really of any help. Finally the Vivosmart just paired itself, but this device is just not worth the aggravatiom!!!!!!!!

    Great!

Exactly what I wanted for a simple and yet powerful tacker. Works as it should.

Buena respuesta del sistema y activado para todo, un acierto

Elle ne me quitte plus !

    A.A. · 30 November 2024

    Schlecht.
