Small, relatively inexpensive and unobtrusive Roku stick that provides the UK terrestrial TV streaming channels and the common subscription channels, including Bolo Prime (isn’t widely mentioned on the Roku website), Apple TV, etc. It can be powered from a TV 1A output USB socket. The remote control is very compact with good voice input, dedicated shortcut buttons (unlike that pictured) for Bolo Prime and Apple TV. The remote is also easy to set up to control the TV volume/mute, working on a 2015 Samsung and 2018 Android OS Sony TV. Roku menu navigation is very quick with no lag and no concerns on the image quality. Additional and feature that seals the deal is Apple Airplay, again works exceptionally well. Fully recommend this Roku 4K streaming stick if you have Bolo Prime, Apple TV, etc subscriptions and also Apple Airplay. Note that if the stick cannot be plugged into the TV HDMI socket due to restricted access, ROKU will provide via post on request, a short HDMI extension lead.

If you're worried about how simple this is to use then don't worry. The menu system and options are really clear and easy to use. It has never lost connection to the Wi-Fi and the apps/channels have never failed to connect or seized up.It could be a bit long for some peoples setups, all in it's 9.5cm long including the plug in bit and there's 8.5cm of it sticking out of the telly. It gets warm but never hot. If my HD telly was wall mounted I'd have use the right angled HDMI connectors because my HDMI sockets point backwards from the back of the telly and not downwards like they do on the new 4K telly, I've got some anyway and this device also works perfectly fine with both of mine.My only criticism is that it can't be turned off, it's always on with much lower consumption. If you need to check anything out on a Wi-fi network then you'll have to disconnect it from the power supply, luckily this isn't an issue for me.This was plugged into our downstairs telly among the scary mass of wires among the consoles and TV boxes etc. That was an HD TV, picture is excellent at all times. Tried it out on our new 4K TV and the picture is even better and still no issues, really old standard definition obviously looks a bit ropey on a big telly but that's not down to the Roku stick and all telly brands handle old fashioned video differently to other each other anyway. It's very fast to respond to key presses and voice control, no lag or hanging around. The voice control very rarely returns a comedy result from our various accents and is excellent. The user interface/menu system is very easy to use. Netflix, BBC, ITV, Disney, C4, Youtube etc all work perfectly. The Roku has now moved upstairs to the bedroom with the old telly because the new 4K one downstairs has all the apps built into it and the simple robust remote is great for cuddling up and watching a film in bed.The remote isn't like a traditional one and doesn't need to be pointed at the telly so there's no issues with the device being plugged in the back of the telly out of site. I even use it from other rooms, especially to turn adverts down when I've got music blasting out, say when I'm hoovering or making a brew. It has volume buttons that turn my telly down, it's part of the setup steps when you first use the device and was really easy to follow.Simple to use, never fails to function and is really slick and responsive with a great picture and sound quality. A genuine bargain.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cheapest AIRPLAY device you can get

    D.R. · 5 August 2023

The Roku Streaming Stick is by a big margin one of the best purchases anyone with an old (or even new) tv can make. I have a Samsung “smart” TV (2015) which sadly now runs the older Samsung OS so everyday is becoming less and less smart, i decided to go with Roku instead of Bolo’s own stick due to airplay capabilities and boy oh boy it was the right decision. The Roku sticks works wonderfully both mirroring iPhone/iPad but also casting video and audio through AirPlay, although it does not support VPNs, i can connect my iPhone/iPad to VPN and cast video and it works great. UI is simple but effective, with minimal ads, and a wide array of apps to download. This model includes de remote that will also control your TVs volume, mute and power, so no need for a second remote, you can also download the Roku app on your smartphone which you can use as a second remote or to use as private listening device, very useful if you have kids in the house. I have just one minor gripe with the remote, if you power the Roku from a 1A USB port at the back of the TV, when the TV is off the remote is going to consume a significant amount of power trying to connect to the stick (the two connect through Wifi), so be ready to replace batteries rather frequently (they have lasted me around 3 months, which is ridiculous when other remotes (IR) would last years), although if you power it (Roku stick) from the mains you should not have this problem. The stick supports 5GHz Wifi so should be nice and fast, and includes all the major apps: Channel 4, iTV, BBC, my5, Netflix, Disney+, NOW, AppleTV+, Youtube, Prime Video, Spotify, Apple Music, even F1tv (although you can’t watch live races) and many more.Overall i am very happy to bring my not so old tv back from the brink of tech death and highly recommend the stick, especially if you have an iPhone but not an apple tv.

yet another of my firesticks has ceased to work - the latest a 4k Max. So this time I thought i'd go for a different vendor. The Roku devices seem to get good reviews so I went for this. Its easy enough to setup but I must admit I prefer the Fire OS as it is less restrictive. The Roku was cheaper than another 4K Max which was a bonus.

Very slow, limited apps with sluggish response

    K. · 1 January 2025

Per my internet browsing i thought it is a best device. But it is not. It is slower. Not very good bunch of apps.Apps are not well developed.Main screen interface is not that appealing too.Sometimes freezes.

    The best streaming device!

    S.I. · 2 September 2023

Did a little research and ended up buying the Roku 4K media stick for our dumb TV in the bedroom. It’s a fantastic device with a very simple interface. Setup was a breeze and you can turn the TV on and off with the Roku remote along with control of the volume also.

SECOND HAND while paying NEW product!

    E.M. · 22 January 2025

I read in the reviews before buying that at least one person got an obviously returned product. I was worried about this but thought it could have been an isolated case. When my product arrived, not only the box was a bit dented and with security tape on only one end, but it was dusty inside and one of the power adaptors (plug) was clearly bent as when you use it and doesn't fit properly. For the moment, it is working as it should. However, when comparing to the ones on videos online, I did notice that the configurations you get access to, even on the secret menus, there's less options on what you can modify.

Promoted in Australian Prime Day sale but comes without Australian adapter.

    B. · 25 July 2022

Promoted to me by Bolo Australia as a good deal for their Prime day sale. Shipped a model from the UK which is fine, but doesn't supply a Aus power adapter, only US and UK so unusable unless I go buy a converter.
