5.0 out of 5 stars Lovely
I have used this a few times now and I really like it! Put it on when your hair is towel dry and style as usual. My hair feels and looks smooth and shiny. It smells nice too. I definitely recommend
4.0 out of 5 stars Quite nice
This is quite an expensive smoothing balm. A subtle scent that I can't quite make out. It seems quite smoothing on my hair before straightening it, but I wouldn't say it's the best one out there, especially at the price it is.
5.0 out of 5 stars Helps to Smooth Fly-Away Hairs*
🌟 The eSalon Velvet Primer comes in a 88ml plastic squeeze tube and is designed for coloured hair. I have very long, bright red, coloured hair but struggle with taming fly aways on the top layer of my hair near the roots, so was eager to see if this primer could essentially flatten and tame them for a smooth, sleek, finish!➕️ The primer comes in a reasonably sized tube. The directions state to use just a pea sized amount of the product on washed, towel-dried hair, so essentially you don't need to use much. Since my hair is like 22inches in length I use about 2 x pea sized amounts and evenly distribute and brush it through➕️ The formula is creamy in texture and has a subtle but sweet scent to it. It's really easy to pull through the hair and doesn't leave it feeling greasy or as though it has too much product in it.🌟 I've been using this primer regularly for a couple of weeks now and can happily say it's been doing a great job at taming my fly away hairs! Once my hair has been dried, it's not left feeling overly textured or gritty with product which can often happen with primers/smoothing products. It simply leaves my hair sleek and smooth whilst keeping down those annoying stray flyaway's mid length of my hair. As stated a small amount is all that's needed so this should last me a really good while too! Thumbs up from me.
3.0 out of 5 stars Didn’t work great on high porosity hair
The media could not be loaded. My hair is bleached and thin, quite healthy but it’s always been very frizzy and slightly wavy. I have tried this product on both wet and dry hair and while it didn’t do much on dry hair, when used on wet hair it left a sticky residue after I blow dried it. It does help with the frizz a bit, but the stickiness made me not like it at all unfortunately. The price is okay, but there are better products out there with similar price tag and they work better.
5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Hair Primer
I have heard positive things about eSalon so I was pleased to try this product which is their Velvet Primer Smoothing Hair Balm. It has been designed for colour treated hair which is prone to frizz. The idea is it makes hair more manageable, smooth and frizz free and also adds shine, combats humidity and prevents UV damage. You can also use it as a leave-in conditioner on curly hair. The directions state to use a pea sized amount on towel dried hair. My hair is shoulder length and thick and I was surprised that this was actually plenty. This is a good thing as it means that it will last a long while. You can also use a tiny amount just before using straighteners but I was happy with the finish without doing that. I really like that it made my hair smooth and far less frizzy and it was so much easier to deal with, which is pretty amazing as my hair is often challenging to say the least! It doesn’t feel heavy or sticky as some products do, and I was really impressed by this.I think the price is fair because, as mentioned, you only use such a tiny amount that the tube will last a long while. I have tried many products to try and tame my hair and I have to say this is one of the best I have tried and I will definitely get it again.
2.0 out of 5 stars Sadly Not For Me - Made My Somewhat Limp Hair Very Greasy
I wanted to love this but sadly my hair didn’t take to it at all. I’d not used a “primer” for my hair before but this is nice to use with the squeeze tube and flip lid. You only need a tiny amount, about pea-sized, so the tube should last quite well. There’s a good range of ingredients to help hair health and appearance, and the potential benefits of smoothing, reducing frizz and adding shine are very appealing.Sadly my hair wasn’t happy with it at all. My hair is below shoulder length, thinner than it used to be and a bit limp. I used less than a pea-sized amount and quickly patted it around my hair on two occasions. After blowdrying, my hair both times was super greasy and horrible. I wouldn’t use it again as a result as it was surprisingly bad and I’d already used such a tiny amount that I couldn’t use less than I did. Everyone’s hair is different so it’s worth trying I think, it just didn’t suit mine at all.
5.0 out of 5 stars Less Frizz
I suffer really badly from frizzy hair and I'm always looking out for new products to reduce frizz. This eSalon primer did give my hair a smoother appearance when first dried, but didn't make any difference after being out in the elements. The balm comes in a pink plastic squeezy tube which needs squeezing with care as the balm is quite runny. I used a small amount rubbed into my fingers before dragging it through the lengths of my long hair. The fragrance is light and pleasant and almost disappears after drying.Once dried/styled, my hair was as smooth as I can get it using smoothing balms (only electric straighteners gets my hair smooth like most people's hair). It stayed straight for the rest of the day but the next day I was pretty much as frizzy as usual. I also noticed that my hair became frizzy after going out for a walk on a windy day, so really, it only works when hair is first dried. That's really as good as I've ever had a 'reduce frizz' product to work for me.
4.0 out of 5 stars Leave hair shiny and soft.
This Hair balm from eSalon comes in small tube with a flip top lid.The balm has a creamy texture to it, and I used this as I do all my serums/balms, by putting a small amount into my hands, rubbing them together and then gliding them through my towel dried hair. I have greasy root and dry ends, so I pay particular attention to the lengths and ends of my hair and use what remains on my hands to run through my scalp area.I then brush my damp hair through, and I had no issue getting the brush through my hair, no tangles.I have long hair, and this does make my hair feel shiny and soft and smell nice.It isn’t the cheapest, but you do only need a very small amount each time so it should last a while.
A little goes a long way
Great cream for blow out! Silly and smooth- I’m still playing with the amount. Great price for the amount of product this will last awhile and I have long hair.
I love using this product when I air dry my hair...which is 99% of the time.
I'm a hippie at heart and avoid using blowdryers, hair straighteners, curling irons, etc. I love letting my thick wavy hair naturally dry but I also love a good balayage, so products are necessary to make air-drying my hair actually work and look healthy at the end of the day. My friend recommended this product, and WOW, it is the ideal weightless smoothing cream that makes my hair look so good. LOVE the price too :)
