5.0 out of 5 stars There are cheaper HR strap options out there, but it's more than just an HRM.
Bought to replace a very ancient Garmin HRM which was detachable and I had replaced the strap with third party options on a couple of occasions. This new one is the ultimate HRM if you've got a Garmin and Bolo prices are competitive. It's wider than my old one and more comfortable as a result. However the unit is not detachable so if the elastic goes or starts to smell, then you'll need to replace the whole thing which is a shame. That said, it seems very robust and, despite my scepticism, following the guidelines by rinsing under the tap after each use and in mild detergent every 7 days seems pretty effective and there is no smell whatsoever. The device needs to be registered as a device in Garmin Connect which means that it monitors battery life and delivers any software upgrades. You also pair it with your device and I've had rock solid automatic connections whenever I've launched an activity, and it seamlessly disconnects and reverts to the wrist based HR when I come out - I often had to manually pair the old one on each occasion so that's a big improvement. In addition to HR, it also captures Running Dynamics so if you've got an older watch that doesn't have this natively, you'll see Stride Length, Ground Contact Time, Vertical Oscillation, etc in your Garmin Connect record. It also captures Left/Right balance which watches don't do and that is a useful metric. Although the fact that I get more wear on the left heel of my shoes would also tell me the same thing, but only after a few hundred miles of running and possible injury risk! Although all this information is there for any brand of watch, in practice only Garmin devices actually display it. It may well justify the high price of the HRM Pro+, but really only if you have a Garmin product. Although I've not tested it, it is also capable of storing HR data and then downloading it to the watch later - for example if you are swimming. It can also help with treadmill running where you can't use GPS to estimate distance and speed. So in summary, this is one of the most expensive HRMs out there, but worth it if you want the extra features and you have a Garmin. Otherwise, save some money and look elsewhere.
5.0 out of 5 stars Accurate and Reliable HR Monitor – A Great One-Time Investment
I’ve been using the Garmin HRM-Pro Plus for the past 10 days with my Garmin Fenix 7X, primarily for running and CrossFit, and I’ve been really impressed with its performance. If you’re looking for a reliable heart rate monitor that delivers consistent results, this is a fantastic option.Accurate Heart Rate Tracking:The HR data is very accurate and consistent. I’ve compared the readings with my Whoop 4.0 (bicep strap), and the numbers are nearly identical. Unlike the Whoop wrist strap, which often underestimates heart rate in higher zones (4-5), the HRM-Pro Plus delivers precise readings across all intensity levels.One-Time Payment – A Major Advantage:One of the best aspects of the HRM-Pro Plus is that it’s a one-time purchase. With Whoop’s subscription model, costs add up over time, but with Garmin, you pay once and enjoy the benefits without any ongoing fees. This was a big factor in my decision to switch to Garmin as my main HR monitor.Learning Curve with the App:The only downside I’ve encountered is the Garmin Connect app interface. It’s not the most intuitive and takes a bit of time to get used to. However, once you get past the learning curve, it’s manageable. In Summary:I’m extremely satisfied with the Garmin HRM-Pro Plus and plan to make it my primary HR monitor for workouts. Given that my Fenix 7X already does an excellent job tracking sleep and recovery, I’m confident I can retire my Whoop altogether. If you’re looking for accuracy, consistency, and a solid alternative to subscription-based fitness trackers, this is a great choice.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great bit of kit
The Garmin HRM Pro Plus seamlessly connects to my Fenix watch and the Garmin app on my phone. It is both comfortable to wear and accurate.Update: After a month of testing, my Garmin HRM Pro Plus, a heart rate monitor that connects effortlessly to my Fenix watch every single time, and the Garmin app is on my phone. It is still very comfortable to wear and provides accurate readings. I have been testing it extensively, and it is an excellent piece of equipment.
4.0 out of 5 stars Key bit of kit
If you are serious about tracking your fitness, a chest strap is an essential bit of kit for exercising. While you may have a watch with a built in function, it won’t give you accurate results. Plus this model gives you useful extra info on things like running cadence so if good if you want to geek out or work on your running form. This works and is waterproof so great for running and swimming. Depending on offers at the time, you’ll pay anything between £70 and £100 for this. That’s on the pricey side IMO but my Garmin Tri heart strap gave up the ghost after about 3 years of moderate usage so I bought this to replace it. I paid the lower end of the scale, so if I get three years out of it I’ll consider it decent value.
5.0 out of 5 stars Works well
Too new to judge battery life but it connects to my watch easily and great to track my fitness improving.
5.0 out of 5 stars Allows calibration on treadmill.
Bought to allow me calibration on treadmill. Works well, makes data collection far more accurate of running on treadmill. The HRM on garmin watch is also unreliable, poor connection. Strap never lets you down.
5.0 out of 5 stars Quality product
Comfort strap and accurate HRM, much better than my Fenix 7x, which has an issue on monitoring HR during a change of body temperature (particular a case for a cyclist).
5.0 out of 5 stars Great Chest Strap
Easily connects to my Garmin watches.Vast improvement of the previous model that was extremely cumbersome when having to change the battery. Would buy it just for this change alone. Also connects to Zwift with ease.Highly recommended..
Best HR Monitor ever
This is the best HR monitor I ever had.I use it for cycling with my Garmin Edge 1040, which perfectly gathers heart and respiration rates. The original battery is still working fine 6 months after the purchase.I'll be back for an update!
excelente productoooooooo
Comfortable and works seamlessly with my garmin watch
I purchased this so I could have higher accuracy (and more responsive) heart rate readings than my watch gives me, and so that I could specifically run a lactate threshold test to better set up my heart rate zones. I pair this with a garmin forerunner 965 and so far it has worked seamlessly.Pretty simple unboxing, but not a lot of information is given. It does not just pair automatically, but has to be added to the watch. Its relatively simple, but there is a step required to do it. Then when worn and starting an activity, the watch automatically recognizes it and uses data from the strap over its own sensors. As far as I can tell, the heart rate readings I am getting from it are accurate and responsive, though in my case, I am not sure its a massive improvement over the optical heart rate sensor I am already using. Though I am sure its still an improvement.Running the lactate threshold test was handled by my watch, but it required an external heart monitor and again as far as I can tell it works well. The watch reports my heart rate changes quickly when I change pace and while I have yet to do any sprint intervals with it yet, I imagine it will fare much better than the watch, which could often miss the entire interval before my heart rate would respond on the watch.
