5.0 out of 5 stars Topdraw Amp & Dac
Absolute outstanding device guys! You really have done your work extremely well on the Fosi Audio DS1. I broke in the sound on the device with my Conch IEM's. The sound is unreal! Bassline is heavy set, mids are extraordinary and beautifully controlled. Lows too! I totally recommend the DS1. Go out and buy! You will be astounded believe. 😁👌🎧
4.0 out of 5 stars Great clarity and sound on my cans.
I bought these after my Helm Bolt dac, which I was happy with, suddenly gave up the ghost after almost exactly a yearand stopped working. The DS1 sounds the same to me,but offers more user options than the Bolt.Played into my Hifiman Edidition XS gives a much better sound stage than a plain vanilla dac, but still needs a little EQ tweak on my phone for the lower bass.Great detail. It is not worth my while spending more on a dac since my 76 year old ears do not do justice to the higher end.Am waiting to get a balanced cable for my can.Supposed to offer some improvement and an extra boost in volume. The DS1 is well made and sturdy certainly compares well to dacs that cost twice as much.If using it with a phone make sure it is well charged. You can tell that the DS1 is juice hungry since it gets quite warm.Uses even more with a balanced cable. The flashing lights are a bit vague.Another point ,I have used this with a pair of Senheiser cans with a much lower impedance than the HiFiMans, and I can't tell any difference in sound when changing up and down in the hi,low, impedance setting.I would say try these, before you spend a lot more on a dac.If you are happy with the sound, stop looking at reviews and don't go chasing hifi nirvana rainbows.
5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely amazing
Tested for 2 days now and am loving the details and clarity it offers. Listening to music ( streaming and lossless files )via phone through my headphone(px7 cable) or as aux to car and portable speakers with all EQ and sound enhancement off, am enjoying music like never before. Its my fav purchase now. Definitely worth the money.
5.0 out of 5 stars Ridiculously good sound quality for the price
I have to admit I've been on a quest to find one of these DAC/Amps that actually delivered on the hype. I've been through Moondrop/Fiio/Tanjem et all devices and I've found their Achilles heel sound quality wise. I want a device I can use whilst rowing, but also one that can power full-size headphones (some high impedance) as well as low impedance/high efficiency IEMs; I did initially give up and built my own Frankenstein setup comprising a Topping NX7 and a used Arcam rPac which I obtained from eBay and did a little refurbishment/maintenance on (re-soldered the input jacks as they inevitably succumb to the primary plug/unplug stresses). The sound of the NX7/rPack combination is particularly convincing (almost holographic, even for headphones) when connected to a pair of Quad ERA-1s, with fabulous dynamic and slam, where present. However the NX7/rPac combo is hardly something that could be worn on the belt whilst rowing and more lends itself as a travel DAC/Amp combo that one would take on holiday or on a business trip. Then I read about these in the esteemed New York Times (and also the usual FoTM ravings on YouTube) so purchased the with cynical view as to what I would hear. Well, surprise, surprise, whilst not having the transparency, refinement or outright slam of the Toppong/rPack, the Fosi presents a shockingly good rendition of the music presented to it and and is a good 70-80% of the Topping/rPac combo. So, I highly recommend this little device for serious listening with good headphones. One YouTuber mentioned this could replace a desktop amp/DAC to which my reaction at the time was "BS", but I think, at a pinch it probably could. I'm still going to use the Topping/rPac/Quad combo for travel/holidays, but for walking around town, or going to the gym, this little DAC/Amp, IMO, is as close to a true hi-fi experience you're going to get on the move (with the right headphones/IEMs of course).
5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant little portable dac
I don't have the musical terminology that a lot of reviewers seem to to be gifted now days, so I'm not going to say stuff like sound stage, bass, mid bass and treble textures, etc, etc. But the one one good thing I can understand and share with you is that this small little device can make my iem rock! Forget all the flashy expensive versions, if you want your smartphone and music streaming services to sound good with a decent set of iem look no further. £75 well worth it.
5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely amazing exactly what I was looking for
After wanting an upgrade to my previous amp I was looking for a slightly more expensive one with a 4.4 balanced output. I had previously tried the HIBY FC4 but it distorted the bass terribly and was absolutely unlistenable. Couldn't be EQed either. So after much research I decided to go for it and purchase the DS1.It was incredible, the bass was punchy, there was no distortion and it was totally silent when nothing was playing. Although there is not as much of a noticeable difference in sound quality to some, to those looking for the little boost to their music and for a powerful, trustworthy amp then this is perfect.
Good Lil Dac
Gets a little warm, but the overall sound is very good and transparent. It doesn’t color the sound at all. Build quality is all metal and very robust. Nice Dac at a decent price. Plenty of power to drive any IEM. I even tried it with my Fiio, Jade Audio headphones and the sound quality was superb.
Mejora substancial.
Dimunitive Size really packs a punch
I was very pleasantly surprised at the sound quality from this unit. Its very musical sounding, with especially good bass reach and midrange quality. Its quite small but feels substantial because the fine materials it is made from. MP3's from my laptop sound much cleaner, and tighter sounding. The bass is clean and punchy. And I can hear more ambient information as well. They are about 8 yrs old, but my AKG K550 Reference headphones sound so good now. Volume is no issue, as I have to reduce it alot. The only potential problem area may be the lead for the USB plug. Its pretty thin and light and may not hold up as well as the actual DAC unit itself. I cannot comment on battery life since it runs off my laptop. Even still, I do highly recommemd this item.
