5.0 out of 5 stars Worth the buy
Second time buying this product and it’s worth it. The quality is great, the size is perfect and looks well made. Since it’s a gift for someone else unfortunately I can’t review on the performance or insulation as I won’t be using it. But the one I have had for months now keeps drink warm for long time. You have to keep it upright to prefect leakage which is what it states on the label.
5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant
This cup keeps my drink hit for hours. Very useful
4.0 out of 5 stars Reliable Warmth with a Couple of Caveats
Introduction:My recent purchase of the Contigo Streeterville Desk Mug, an insulated coffee thermal mug with a stainless steel handle, came with the hope that I'd found a versatile companion for my daily coffee ritual—something that's fit for home use, my morning car rides, and my desk at work.Product Description:The Streeterville Desk Mug boasts quite a few notable features. The lid catches attention with a handy drinking opening that promises both spill-free sipping and heat retention. The Thermalock vacuum insulation is an engineer's dream, claiming to keep drinks hot for up to 5 hours or cold for up to 15, an extraordinary feat for a mug designed for the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Made from durable stainless steel and touting a generous capacity of 420 ml, it's a mug that appeals to both coffee addicts and casual tea sippers. Plus, it's a breeze to clean with its dishwasher-friendly design and BPA-free, single-piece lid that nullifies the usual nightmare of lost components. The mug’s distinct dimensions and weight ensure a substantial feel without being burdensome.Packaging and Presentation:Upon its arrival, the Contigo mug was presented in perfect condition. The packaging was functional and frustration-free, adequately protecting the mug from the perils of transit, and presenting it ready for immediate use.Performance and Experience:In the field of heat retention, this mug has been a stellar performer. My hot beverages have stayed pleasantly warm through countless sips and refills. A real test, however, came when it accompanied me on a car journey—unfortunately, there was a mishap. The mug took a tumble and hot coffee spilled out. So, while it does a wonderful job at keeping drinks hot, I'd hesitate to vouch for it as a travel buddy in scenarios where it can't remain upright.Another downside is the non-slip feature. Despite its good intentions to secure the mug in place, it seems to backfire slightly. The surface doesn’t cover the base completely, making the mug more susceptible to accidental knocks.Quality and Durability:As with other Contigo products, the finish and materials used in the Streeterville Desk Mug are superb. The lid, often a troublesome part of any travel mug, stands out for its ease of cleaning and robust construction. Having inadvertently tested its durability through several significant drops, I'm happy to report that it still functions as if brand new.Value for Money:Snagging this mug for a mere 13 pounds was a steal. Considering its performance in keeping drinks at the desired temperature for lengthy periods and its resilience against daily wear and tear, I'd say it represents excellent value for money, despite the minor travel instability issue. In summary, the Contigo Streeterville Desk Mug is a commendable competitor in the insulated mug arena. While it may not be the ultimate travel mug due to its tippy non-slip feature and spilling tendencies, its superb heat retention, ease of cleaning, and sturdy build make it a worthwhile investment for those in search of a dependable mug for stationary enjoyment of their favorite hot beverages.
5.0 out of 5 stars I nearly missed my favourite mug
Before buying this I did a fair bit of research online, and bought some right rubbish as well. Beside generic junk, I had sampled Thermos' own Thermocafe range which felt plastiky and grim compared with their excellent flasks, of which I own several.Contigo also make very good quality travel cups and some of the negativity in reviews on this site looks to be generated by people imagining that this is a travel cup. It isn't. Others seem not to have read the instructions or the description. So here goes...This is a handsome looking desk mug. At 14oz. it is a good size. The "sake" shade that I chose is attractive. It has a rubber base that grips reasonably well and excellent insulation for a desk mug holding heat for several hours. With no screw down insulated lid, it cannot match a flask for heat retention or leakage but it is not intended to do so.Apparent "flaws"1. It can spill/it leaks - because it is a desk mug (see above). This is explicit in both the description and the instructions - but the listing on this site is misleading with the phrase "leak proof". Is it a mistake? Just try not to knock it over, as you would with any mug.2. The handle is uncomfortable and it is difficult to drink from - it is not uncomfortable for my large hands, in fact the opposite. I also have a big mouth (how can you tell?) so sipping from this is a pleasure. These "criticisms" reminds me of reviews complaining about hats being too big or small but with no reference to hat size, so, with that In mind, I take a large (not XL) mens glove and "One Size" hats rarely fit me.3. The lid may pop off if the water is too hot - well yes. But this is because it is a press fit lid held in by its gasket. It specifically states that it may do this in the instructions and how to deal with it (I e., wait 3 minutes - in other words the time it takes to brew tea - who would have guessed?).4. It is pricey - but it isn't when compared to desk mugs with heater and app at more than 10x the price, nor if, like me, you end up buying cheaper 'bargain' junk which needs replacing or binning.5. It arrived dented/scratched/with coffee stains - that's horrible. So send it back! See Bolo's guarantee. A delivery problem does not merit a 1 or 2 star review for a quality product, especially if you can get a refund or replacement, photos or not.Because of the negative reviews on this very site, I very nearly passed on this one. I'm now thinking of getting a second, and maybe even one as a gift for a friend.Star ratings are all very well but read the reviews. I'm glad I did. I rarely give 5 star reviews myself, but honestly - this is worth it. I only hope it lasts - it does what it says it will do. Thank you Contigo.
5.0 out of 5 stars Student must have!!!
I’m in my final year (with the OU so six years) and I wish I had one of these in my first! The number of cups of tea and coffee that have gone cold due to getting too deep into the material, if only I had one of these! My drink stays hot during a full session. Currently that has been around 2 hours and the final sip is still hot! I’m really impressed! As others have said it’s not leak proof, but with the slider closed, my textbooks don’t get wet if I knock it over.If I want to travel I have the matching travel mug that is leakproof (I’ve had this one for years, so I know the brand is good). I just prefer a cup with a handle when I’m at home.
