5.0 out of 5 stars Really thoughtfully designed
Ideal for a built-up mirrorless or DSLR, although I'm also using it for a tall and heavy DJI Ronin 4D rig. Well built and the included case is a nice touch. Combination Manfrotto/Arca Swiss baseplate is handy if, like me, you're mounting different camera bodies. Handles also slide left or right (albeit only in unison), which is genius as it brings both hands directly in front. Even though more expensive than the exchange rate suggests it might be in the UK, this nevertheless feels like good value against some of its competition.
2.0 out of 5 stars Very good apart from one thing.
This is a very nice camera rig brace which is extremely well made and designed. But there is one design flaw which meant I found it to be unusable and had to return which I really didn't want to do.The function which allows the rig to fold over and take up less space for storage relies on one tension wingnut. But, in the open mode this wingnut reaches the support before it provides secure fixing. This means the whole rig is slightly loose, or loose enough to get knocked out of its position which could easily happen when shooting and moving a camera around. The wingnut has a very small 3mm maybe hex key and I tried tightening this but as the material is soft alloy its easily damaged. All the other fixings are super tight, the rosette grips, the camera baseplate, the arms. This one fixing is kind of the lynch pin for stability so it seems sensible to have a very tight fixing here. However, one small wingnut that hits the rig before you can apply appropriate tension is a major design flaw. If this was improved I would definitely buy this again and use it
BEst cheap shouldr rig I've tried
I got this on an offer day, dont regret it,. its super comfortable
Excellent
Excellent produit, qualité des matériaux, finitions, c’est du tout bon !!
Tilta TA-LSR-B - not what I expected
First of all, I normally like most of the Tilta products. They have great manufacturing quality, durable colors and are usually rather thought-through. From my initial impression over the internet, I thought the Light Weight Shoulder Rig (LWSR) is a better and more ergonomic solution to the competition, but I quickly discovered I was terribly wrong. While the carrying case and its many storage compartments are great and the overall shoulder rig works well standalone, I think the everyday usability is not there yet. Here are my findings that make this shoulder rig a definite no-go for me:- The lever of the arca swiss and manfrotto base plate is always in the way of the battery compartment of most cameras. In this case, all Sony A7's.- The shoulder rig cannot be used as whole on regular tripod heads. You need to remove the shoulder pad and thus, also your V-mount or Gold mount battery plate. In this example, the shoulder rig is mounted on the Manfrotto Nitrotech head and has not a single inch of clearance to be adjusted.- Ok, now say you want to adjust the length of the rig. The according lever is basically always blocked by either the shoulder pad itself or the manfrotto arca swiss quick release plate. In my opinion, both levers, the one for the main plate and also the smaller one should have been moved to the left side to make room for swapping the batteries and to be able to adjust the shoulder rig length on the go.- The length of the grips can only be adjusted by 4cm. The additional rod length looked way longer on the pictures.- The dual quick release plate (fusion between arca swiss and Manfrotto depending on how you use it) has no support for 3/8 inch bolts as seen on many camera bodies and cages. You also need to use an allen key. Due to the limited space, it is not possible to use toolless options. The screws do also have a special one of a kind length, so once you lose them, you are in trouble on set.- No built in dual rod support for the front of the shoulder rig (matte boxes etc.)On top of that, but that's personal preference, I prefer using rubberized handles. The ones supplied with this kit are made of thick foam. The foam feels of rather good quality but no matter what, that foam will be damaged and gone sooner or later. For me, handling the shoulder rig with one hand feels very insecure with foam handles. I prefer the grippier and less elastic grip of rubber handles.Very sorry to draw the conclusion that this shoulder rig is no option for me. I don't understand how this product is supposed to work quickly and reliably in a hurry or with other third party accessories.
