5.0 out of 5 stars Worth every penny!
Received very quickly less than 2 days after ordering thank you! I’ve allowed 2 weeks since receiving to review. I cannot express enough how glad I am that I bought this I was dubious about the price of electric litter boxes and did my research. This came out top of all the more realistically priced boxes. I have two young cats, one took to the litter box immediately one was terrified but after 3 days took to using it and hasnt looked back since. I helped her to transition by rewards treats and play going near the litter box then after a day stopped emptying the old litter box (stinky but worth it) and she opted for a cleaner toilet in the end. Dont rush this stage take time so cat doesn’t feel forced you dont want any accidents on the floor! The app works i havent had any issues at all and weighs my cats and i can add details and photos of them in the app so I know who used the toilet and when. The box itself is roomy enough for most cats and it is so quiet you hardly hear it.I can use ordinary composting bags or small pedal bin liners and hook handles underneath the bin so is very easy and cheap to replace the bags.I use a fine clumping well known cat litter and this works great.Odour wise it does a brilliant job of removing smells from the room obviously you are going to have some smell when in use but soon after when cycle clean kicks in the air is cleared. No more coming home from work to a stinking litter tray!I do choose to emty bin every day though as i have a strong sense of smell!I can honestly say this has changed my life and I am enjoying my cats to the full, they enjoy their litter box too and a constantly clean toilet. If you are thinking of buying one of these do not hesitate you won’t regret it!
5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Product
I got this as I have 3 indoor cats. I looked into the reviews first as one of my cats doesn't like confined spaces and I was worried about safety. It has been in use now since January 2024 with no issues, even when one of my cats with zero fear, approaches it while it is on the cleaning cycle. Because of the way it rotates there is no safety concern with cats getting stuck, as they can easily jump out. The entrance is not covered so it has easy access and egress for them. This has been an excellent purchase as it keeps the tray clean and hygienic.
1.0 out of 5 stars Good concept, bad execution
The idea of the product being self cleaning saving the owner from scooping cat waste sounds great, HOWEVER it doesn't work out at all, as it doesn’t completely get rid of all the waste from the clean litter which leads to horrendous smells, which is the reason I bought it in the first place as its advertised to help with odours...it made it 1000x worse. The way it “clears out” the waste into the bin compartment is basically tipping the dome around and the bin lid opening and you hoping the waste has clumped enough to fall into the bin, if not it will just go straight back into the “clean” litter. The whole thing is a nightmare to wash out/clean, virtually impossible as it’s just a dome with no way to clean out the inside. The app which you supposedly get with it didn't even connect at all with the litter box so didn't get to use it at all. So glad that Bolo has a return policy in place and allowed me to return it as it was not fit for purpose at all. I’ve gone back to using a £10 litter tray. Like I said good concept bad execution.
4.0 out of 5 stars Meowant Robot
Had the robot 48 hrs now. I have 4 cats, one cat has 3 legs. All can access v easy. 3 cats took to it immediately the 4th cat took to it day 2.I’d recommend getting the litter guard as one of my cats is a digger so there’s grit outside on the mat.Daily cleaning with wipes inside the barrel is recommended. It’s great to know the cats weight and frequency.I will empty every day with 4 cats as they are all large & produce large plop!Still hands down far easier & better than sieving wood pellets from 5 litter trays. It was great not having to do the sieving this morning.I’ll be purchasing a second Robot for upstairs. Overall well worth the money so far, I’d recommend for sure. I’ve ordered the grit guard off Bolo so hopefully that will reduce the grit being dug out of the robot by my digger cat.
5.0 out of 5 stars Perfection
This litter box is amazing, it's saved me so much money on litter, is easy to use with my kittens (turned off automatic mode) and it cuts smell immediately. I've not noticed any leakage and the sturdiness is amazing... 6/5 if I could!! Only downside is I didn't get the little kick screen thingy in the doorway that prevents litter from getting kicked out. My kittens are definitely kickers!
5.0 out of 5 stars I never write reviews but Meowant deserves one
I’ve had this since Oct 2023. All four cats took to it straight away. Even the 12 year old deaf one. The internal size is good, my 22lb ragdoll fits in it easily. There was a little issue with the litter getting kicked out but I solved that by buying a lip from someone who makes them on Etsy. It’s quiet, easy to clean (unless you have water turned off by water board in the middle!). The top opening for dirty litter emptying is great, I noticed on the new style they use a band to hold in place rather than yellow plastic, I solved the issue of bag sometimes moving with a large elastic band. Although the litter collecting box isn’t huge, with 4 cats I empty every other day, not a big deal. The app is simple but works. No tracking as they provide a great mat. The safety features are amazing, no trapping your cat, stops when detects any movement, so don’t put it in a place where you have a lot of foot fall. I use good clumping litter and there’s no smell. If like me you don’t want to pay for a Litter robot, this is for you. It comes in a great box on delivery and it’s already assembled, you just pop the drum on base, plug in and away you go. There’s a great childlock feature (which was useful as one of my cats learnt how to press buttons). I can guarantee you this Meowant is life changing for you and your cat or cats. Go on you won’t regret it.
Reliable replacement for litter boxes
Takes up just a bit more floor space than a regular litter box. Easy to set up, and app was simple to install.I have 3 cats that use the one meowant, and I've had no problems with it. Cleans well - sometimes a little bit gets stuck to the inside and you need to take a litter scooper to it, but that's to be expected with cat waste. The clean cycle is actually quiet! Sensors are sensitive (good thing!) And will stop any litter box movement while there's a cat in or near it. Or, on it, with one of mine...I empty the bag 2-3 times a week and it beats scooping a tray for sure. Any odor is well-contained inside the unit. The only upkeep I have to do with the unit is wipe it down once or twice a month with a lysol wipe. It's an investment for sure, but one of the better-priced automatic litter boxes out there right now. And a very good replacement for manually cleaning trays! Especially if you have multiple cats
Full review 9mo in: Despite issues, best in class
We’ve had our MeowWant litter box for about 9 months now. I got it shortly after we adopted our littlest of two Siberian cats after I realized how much of a pain it was to hand-scoop two girls’ worth of waste every day. It’sgot its flaws, but it’s infinitely better than hand-scooping.It’s got a small enough footprint that it doesn’t take up too much space in our little apartment bathroom, but it’s large enough on the inside that our ultra-fluffy 13lb 3yr old girl can pretty comfortably go potty, turn around, and dig without being cramped. It works as intended probably 90% of the time, which is as good as it gets right now (skip to the last paragraph for my TLDR on why, and my reasoning for recommending it).1. The app is nothing to write home about; I thought it would be a great way to keep track of their weight, but it turns out that it just kind of upsets the machine to have an integrated scale (of questionable accuracy), and it disconnects from my phone anytime it’s unplugged/reset, so eventually I just stopped reconnecting it. Our girls will also play on top of it, which triggers the weight sensor and logs it as potty time, which totally throws off the data. I only really needed to connect it once at the beginning to set our cleaning cycle times (8am, 12pm, 5pm, 12am), but otherwise I’m fine with not getting notifications. The machine itself is usually well-behaved, but like all auto-scooping litter boxes on the market, it can be finicky.2. You have to be really, really careful to shut the waste bin door all the way after opening it up, making sure it is latched and flush against the curve of the barrel before walking away. If it’s left partially open or a corner is sticking out, it’ll catch on its next cycle and spill the contents of the upside down all over the floor. As the lights are blinking red, you have to remove the back part, pick up the barrel, and physically rotate it back into position (and shut the waste bin door properly), unplug it and plug it back in to get it to complete a spill-free cycle if this happens.3. I recommend keeping a hand-vac handy/near the litter box in case of this, and in general; it’s quite shallow and low to the ground, so if your cat(s) are big on digging like our girls are, litter will end up on floor anyway. Since it’s across from our toilet, I literally just vacuum the surrounding area whenever I pee (…in the human toilet, lol), which makes it very easy.4. You also must be mindful about what kind of litter you use. The advertisement states that it can take tofu or larger/longer-sized litter pellets, but it really can’t without wasting a bunch of it, as it will mistakenly sift larger particles into the waste bin. We’ve tried 6+ different types of liter with this box, and the ones we’ve found to be the best are ones with very fine, heavy particles, such as BoxyCat or other standard clay litter, or Sustainably Yours corn litter (we love this stuff, it’s just a little spendy).5. The holes are currently large enough that poops the size of a marble or smaller will be sifted back in with the clean litter. That’s not a huge deal if your litter is really absorbent and dries out the “leftovers,” but I think they should market this for use with the small grain litters and not for use with tofu litters, so they could make the grate smaller in order to catch the small poops. Those things may seem like glaring issues, but they are not specific to MeowWant. Even the biggest, most expensive, most complicated, fanciest-seeming litter boxes have issues, many of which overlap with the issues that this one has. The main thing I learned during the hours upon hours of research I did prior to purchasing this litter box was that the auto-scooping litter robot market as a whole has a long way to go before these are more reliable and commonplace. The thing that *is* unique to MeowWant is the impeccable customer service. They’ve been incredibly accomodating, friendly, and responsive responsive to our concerns in a way that has me believing they actually take what customers say into account when considering design tweaks for future iterations of this product, which is very encouraging (and exceedingly rare).Overall, for now, I genuinely believe this is one of the best auto-scooping boxes available. Between the small footprint, large inside space, quiet operation, and relative ease of use & cleaning (tip: use some enzyme wipes/spray/foam in between deep cleans) make it totally worthwhile if your goal is to save time and energy dealing with your furbaby’s excrement, especially if you don’t have a ton of space or money for a “nicer one.” I’ll put it this way: cleaning up after the occasional litter box malfunction takes a lot less time and energy than scooping a regular litter box multiple times a day. Unless you want to wait for the industry to catch up, this is worth getting.Edit: Although it is not advertised to work with crystal/silica litter, it does sift out the poo and stirs it around enough to not clump, though you may want to scrape the bottom every so often if you go this route. We had to switch away from the clay litter because it was causing our older girl’s tear ducts to plug up, and we can’t use plant based litter because my partner is super allergic to the dust from it. I’m happy to report that it’s working quite well with FreshStep’s blue crystal litter (I don’t remember the exact name. It is not scented), both for us and the girls :)
Perfect, compact and easy to use
Easy set up, our cat adopted it very quickly. We couldn't use the app, because it says that it's not available in Australia. But nevertheless, we don't need it as much.
Great automatic litter box
We are so happy we bought this. We have a 15 year old cat, and she is very important to us. Unfortunately we are a lot older, and have balance problems. I’m a pro at “face-plants” and I could just see me doing one straight into the litter box! This has been a life-saver. It is so quiet, and she took to it immediately. I don’t have to bend over to clean out the litter trap. There is cleaning involved where the litter is dumped, but minimal. I use disinfecting wipes to clean there. The electronics work as well as I need them to. Buy it! I don’t think you will regret it.
Good quality easy to use
Pros:App is easy to use, straight to the point, the only thing off is the timer/ sensor for weight while in use is a bit off. My cat has bathroom anxiety and takes longer, registers as 2 bathroom visits-safe layout, if sensor ever failed (which it hasnt) if it started turning while cat was in there, he could easily run out without getting caught and hurting him. This part is VERY important when looking for a auto litter box-super easy to change out the litter, just the push of a button, and take out the bin. Super convenient , traps the smell quite good too-super simple to use and put together after cleaning. Its not a puzzle like other brands.-my cats are suuuper picky with everything, i was expecting them to be scared to use this. It has become their primary poop spot. Turn off auto clean for the first month, dont pressure them into using it, sit with them and run it manually for scooping so they can see its safe and normal. Do this for 3-5 weeks until they are used to the sound, etc. Dont move or touch them when running it. Let them sniff, investigate, etc. Be patient. Make it a possitive experience. After using it, give them a treat. Then after a month, set up a timed schedule for auto scooping. When youre home in a normal setting time of day. Make it a routined noise/movement when it runs. Do this for 2-4 weeks. Then when they are no longer phased by the machine when it runs, youre good to go.Cons-decent to clean out but water gets trapped in the rubber bottom where litter goes no matter how dry you get it.-fairly easy to clean but some hidden spaces where dirty litter gets trapped, i fill bathtub a foot deep and swish it around to get everything out where you dont see. I like it to be deep cleaned ever 3 weeks. I use premium clay litter.
