5.0 out of 5 stars Superb sound
Paired this ( I thought temporally ) with an older pair of Tannoy M1 bookshelf speakers with the intention of buying some floorstanders soon. Now I may not bother. I never imagined this sound pouring out of these small bookshelf speakers. The weight of sound and clarity from this amp is amazing. From Massive Attack to Tori Amos, the sound is gorgeous. Highly recommend
5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful sounding, well equipped, solidly built integrated amplifier that's good with headphones.
The Mission 778x is a big step up in sound quality from my previous Marantz PM5005 analogue integrated amplifier. I use the 778x with headphones, the build quality of the headphone input on the front fascia of this amp is absolutely fantastic! and the sound is quite simply the best I've heard. It upscales the performance of my Beyerdynamic DT770 80 ohm headphones to the point of them sounding like completely different headphones on a par with other headphones costing many times more. If you are in the market for a headphone amp and the Mission 778x is within your budget - I recommend you buy this integrated amp instead as it will outperform any cheaper dedicated headphone amp from the well known Asian brands, for example.
5.0 out of 5 stars Quality amplifier
Had the item for about 2 months used every day, excellent build quality & sound quality. The onboard Dac is superb am using my Marantz CD 5005 player ( purchased from Bolo in 2018) as a transport thru the coax input. Laptop for streaming Bolo music using usb connection also superb. Very happy with purchase and can highly recommend it
3.0 out of 5 stars Not much bang for your buck
Tough review to write. It looks nice, but the finish feels like it's going to scratch very easily.First worry was how light it felt, compared to the outgoing amp. Light just about sums this amp up. The sound isn't bad, but it's a bit weedy, somewhat lifeless. It replaces an amp I bought in 1999 (paid about £400 or thereabouts) and it's a lot less amp than I was expecting, I need to crack the volume 3/4 to get where I used to be at 1/4 on the old kit.I understand inflation, but am still surprised just how little you get for over £500 of amplifier.Once you get it cranked up, it's certainly loud enough for my needs, but I'm hearing bass distortion and muddy mids, where my old TEAC provided a well rounded bass thump and punchy delivery of clear midrange. I haven't compared the 778x to other current products in the price range, and am regretting not doing more research. I went with Mission based on my experience of their speakers which have been fantastic value for their performance (again, late 90s, mid 2000s) and the advice that (for the money) the 788x was a good bet due to not having many gimmicks so the money goes towards sound quality, over flashy features.Maybe I'm being unfair, perhaps this is just the state of things, these days. All I'd say is that if you're coming from an amp bought 20 years ago, be prepared to double or triple what you paid to get the same quality. I'd have expected to pay about £150 for this 'back in the day'.
5.0 out of 5 stars Cracking Amplifier
I'll start by saying I didn't buy the Mission Amp from Bolo. They didn't have it in stock at the time. This really is a great little amplifier. The shoebox shape is ideal to stand alongside my Denon DCD50 cd player ( which I did buy from Bolo )It's a well made unit, weighing just over 6 kilos. Lovely sound. Very good bluetooth facility. But for me it's the vinyl replay that is excellent. I have a Pro Ject turntable with its own phono stage preamp, but I switched to the Mission. It really does sound superb. Play any analogue recordings and this little beauty sings along delightfully. Has a very competent headphone amp too.I think you get a bargain for £549. Well I'm well pleased anyway. Cheers
4.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic amp
Bought elsewhere.First off this amp sounds more powerful/punchy than the 45 watts per channel listed.I have actually replaced CX61 with this, as the 61 was to bright for my likingHave it connected to KEF Q350s which from a subjective view is a very good pairing but I would imagine most speakers would sound good with this. For streaming I use Wiim pro.The 778x has all the connections you would wantCoac, optical x2, usb plus Bluetooth. Also has coax and optical in which is handy. To me the amp produces a natural balanced sound, maybe a tiny fraction on the warm side, which is no bad thing, as stated it sounds more punchy the it should. For the price this is an excellent integrated amp which gives amp over £1000 a good run for its money. My only very tiny niggle is that it doesn't have a trigger in or out but I can live with that.As stated I'm very happy with
Stunning simple design.
great integrated amp. Phono input is crystal clean and the bluetooth works without a hitch. Heavy duty styling and construction, yet pretty to look at. Waiting for their CD player to come out, which is in the works. Audiophile quality at an entry price point. Really happy with purchase.
Design elegante
Sehr gerne wieder…..👍👍
