The media could not be loaded. This DH Airlabs Aaira+ humidifier and air purifier is basically very easy to run. The unit is similar is shape and size to a rounded air fryer, so it’s reasonably compact and could go pretty much anywhere around a house. The machine comes with a quick start guide only, the brand choosing to minimise their environmental impact by putting the full manual online only. Since this has worked without issue for me so far, I haven’t needed to consult the full manual. The device uses an electrolysis reaction involving water and salt to purify air.To set this up, you need to remove the blue outer lid, tighten the lid on the filter (the quick start guide indicates by turning it to the right, but I also found it needed a bit of downwards pressure or the lid would just slip off, add deiodised salt, and fill with water before powering on. The instructions ask you to fill an included little bottle with the salt, though this is kind of unnecessary. What’s needed is 3 little scoops of salt, scoop built in to the lid of the bottle, added to the top of the Aaira+. And this is only necessary for air purification function. For the humidifier alone, you don’t need to add salt. You then add 2.5l of water, taking care to run the water over the added salt (if added), and power on. The machine has a series of light touch buttons for power, fan speed, timer, and to switch functions. In use, this is reasonably quiet on the lower two fan speed settings, but fairly noisy on maximum volume. When switched on, the machine assesses the humidity of the air in your room, and keeps a reading constantly visible whilst it is working. This is only an informational reading: there is no facility on this device to set a desired room humidity level. You can also selected a pre-set run time, and switch between purification+humidifier function and just humidifier. The unit has an all-plastic housing, and when on on speeds 2 and 3 there is always a blue light showing. In nighttime mode, the light turns off, leaving only the control panel illuminated. It’s quite attractive looking for a chunk of plastic. We’re hoping the humidifier side of this will help my OH’s eczema, but it’s early days yet.At time of writing, I haven’t been able to find a replacement CEF (filter unit) that’s specifically meant for this unit - either on the manufacturer’s website or here on Bolo. I don’t like being kept in the dark about basic elements of product support such as consumable availability and pricing. For me, a basic awareness of running costs is part of making an informed choice about a product. I didn’t have to take this into account when receiving it, as it’s a review item, but it’s something I need to consider going forward. I have deducted a star from rating because this information is not readily available, though I note that the CEF filter for the Aaira + HEPA model is a manageable £39.99.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed

I bought this product couple of months ago due to a chronic cough I was suffering with at night which I'm told by my GP is to do with hayfever. A friend suggested that a humidifier may help. After much research, I went for this product. The difficulty I have with this is, that I can't seem to get the balance right of the water & salt solution. It's always too much salt or the filter needs cleaning. I use distilled water & Himalayan fine salt and measure with the spoon that came with the item, following the instructions carefully. I'm always pouring water out & refilling or adding more water. I still have not been able to use the product properly to ascertain if it really helps!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Expensive - But Great Health Benefits

The media could not be loaded. This Humidifier is one smart device! It looks almost futuristic in it's design and would look great in a modern home. It is fairly substantial in size, much bigger than my current Humidifier. This product holds around 3.5l of fresh water. Inside is a large filter which purifies the air as is passes through the chamber. You need to add 3 spoons of non iodized salt onto the top of the device and then pour your water over the plastic tray to disperse the salt. I used pink Himalayan ground salt as this is pure without any added extras. It then disperses the salt into the humidified water molecules disinfecting the air around you.The product claims to kill many types of bacteria and virus, included the dreaded Covid 19. It also destroys mould, H1N1 Influenza, MRSA and Staphylococcus, e.Coli and may other types of bacteria and viruses. We have an African Grey parrot in our lounge and it will also filter out floating pet dander. I have researched this technology and it is proven to work well, so the claims appear to be well founded. The Humidifier has 3 speed settings, the first is night mode which i have to say is pretty much silent, the second speed resulting in a not unreasonable hum, the 3rd is turbo power and fairly noisy. I found speed 2 to be perfectly acceptable for our main lounge area. With all that's going in the world this product is fantastic for peace of mind, as well as having proven technology to kill off bugs like Covid 19. It is a very welcome addition to our home. This technology is what is used in some hospitals - so it gives me great confidence that it will keep our home safe from all the nasties out there, especially over the winter months.Would i recommend this product to others? It is very expensive for a humidifier, over 4 times what i paid for my last one. However the added health benefits of the salt based technology and the fact it is an air purified as it passes through the decent sized filter makes this much more valuable in terms of functionality and benefits - thus i would definitely recommend this product to others.I hope that you found my review helpful.
