I’m an air conditioning engineer. Up until now my stash of drinks in my van had been cooled by a Peltier based cool box. This was very inefficient and wasn’t keeping up in warm weather.I’d never heard of or seen a 12v compressor based fridge before until I saw this one. I’ll be honest I did have my reservations as to wether it would be any good.But I decided after researching to go ahead and buy it, I opted for the 20 litre version. A few days later it landed on my doorstep.I’ve had it just over a week now and it’s amazing! It’s basically a mini chest freezer with an adjustable thermostat. A design that’s simple and effective. It’s very well made too and chills amazingly fast! I fill it with about 16 500ml bottles at ambient temperature every few days and it’s chilled them to 0c in just a few hours and that’s on the eco setting!What’s even better is the fact that it’s so efficient, meaning I can power it from the mains (using the supplied adapter) or from the van lighter socket without the socket getting crazily warm like with the cool box. Like any fridge it does produce water but this is easily wiped up once a week and no where near as much as the cool box.If you’re looking at buying a cool box then don’t, these only work at low ambient temperatures. Pay the little extra money and get one of these which works in all temperatures, you won’t regret it. It’s also a lot quieter than a cool box too. I had to put my ear right up to the vent to check it was actually running!I highly recommend this product. There are a few things I don’t like about it. The left hand handle isn’t insulated so can get a bit damp. Especially at low temperatures. I can’t see any way to access the compressor section if it ever needs to be repaired or if the fan and condenser needs to be cleaned. Other than that I’m very happy with it.

It is not an 12v coolbox it is actually a12v fridge with a compressor, it uses very little power out of my camper battery and keeps everything fresh and cold. It does make a noise like a fridge but it is not loud and you get used to it and it’s not on all the time as it works on a thermostat just like your fridge at home.

Love this Alpicool. Wanted to use it with my new Dokio solar panel but was advised by Alpicool (who responded to my email super quickly) that I must have a leisure battery to charge up, then to connect to the fridge.Solar panel to battery to Alpicool. I've learned a lesson.Still excited at chilled dairy though.Tested on 240v at home. It gets to temperature amazingly fast! And ran it on 12v whilst driving. Equally good.So much better than a coolbox. Coolboxes only cool to 10° below outdoor temperature. In 25° heat, that's not healthy.The alpicool is thermostatically controlled. Keeps food at a safe 4 to 7°c.Having heard it operate, it's never gonna keep me awake at night. Very quiet.Brilliant, essential bit of kit.

Our dog is on wet food and we are taking her on trip for more than 2 weeks long. We had to find a solution to store her frozen food and this came into our search window. Size is perfect, we drive a saloon and it fits in average sized boot without issues. I put some home made insulation and frozen food lasted about 10 hours until we got to our first pit stop with main power. I wouldn’t say the fridge is that quiet, admitted it was summer, humid condition, I would score about 5 out of 10 for noise, 8 out of 10 for value for money and the weight is manageable. Overall built quality is 6.

When I bought this, for a campervan conversion, at best I thought it's a hyped up cool box. I couldn't have been more wrong. This is a full on fridge, or freezer, depending on your needs. It's a shame it can't do both but there are enough products out there that fulfill that need.It's lightweight, compact and 99% perfect. But, and it's just a niggle. It can be hard to open, the seal is so strong and where you grip to pull is quite small, but apart from that, a wonderful piece of kit.

Ok size and quality keeps our drinks chilled and easy to use.I don’t like the way the charger lead goes into the fridge seems to come out a lot so I have had to tape it over the connection.
Wirklich solides Gerät
Das ist genau das richtige was wir gesucht haben und zwar wollten wir offenes Futter für unsere Haustiere leicht gekühlt aufbewahren ohne dabei extreme Aufwände zu haben (Platz, Stromverbrauch etc.).Das Gerät ist zwar etwas teurer und wenn man direkt in der Nähe steht hört man das Gerät ebenfalls, es ist aber auch nicht lauter als ein durchschnittlicher Kühlschrank, was im Endeffekt auch das Gerät ist. Der Stromverbrauch ist wirlich SUPER. Im Vergleich zu anderen "Kühlboxen" die aktiv gekühlt werden, hat man hier Premiumleistung und die Mehrkosten sind schon allein durchn den sparsamen betrieb schnell wieder drinnen. Hier reden wir bei 10° in etwa von 0,3kWh am Tag. Wir haben das kleinste Gerät gekauft und bereits aktiven Kühlboxen versucht. Hier lagen wir immer bei mehr als 1kWh pro Tag mit sehr schlechter Kühleistung und Isolierung. Da die anderen Geräte immer durchlaufen, ist das Problem schon vorprogrammiert. Dieser kleine Kühlschrank schaltet sich nur bei Bedarf ein und hält auch die Kälte sehr gut. Gegen die Vibrationen haben wir unter die Füße etwas drangeklebt, was dann vermutlich im Auto die Sache nicht mehr stabil gegen Verruschen sicher, aber das ist egal.Zum Thema Auto: Hier wird die Leistung ebenfalls überzeugend sein, schon allein der Stromsparmodus den man aktivieren kann um die Autobatterie zu schützen ist genial. Da kann man das Auto zum Einkaufen schon beruhig abstellen und das Gerät angeschlossen lassen.Tja was soll man sagen. Ich finde das Gerät perfekt! Man sollte sich nur einen EU-2-Pin-Stecker bereithalten, denn das Gerät kommt mit einem englischen Stecker. So ein Kable hat aber vermutlich fast jeder zuhause rumliegen.
The most useful thing I've ever had in my car
I bought it to keep the fish fresh during the long journey from Norway to the south of Denmark. Alpicool keeped temperatures from -3 to -15 for three days without any additional battery or charger. Outside it was about +28°C
Fazit nach 3 Campingtrips
Kühlt sehr gut, scheint sparsam im Verbrauch. Im Camper kaum zu hören. Die einzige Kritik, die mir einfällt ist, dass das Display Nachts wegen seiner Helligkeit stören kann, so dass man etwas drauflegen muss.
Tolles Teil/ leider schon defekt
Die Kühlbox (9l) kam früher an als angekündigt. Weil sie aus China kommt, hatte ich mit Wochen Lieferzeit gerechnet. 5 Sterne dafür.Obwohl sie aus China kommt, ist eine Betriebsanleitung in sehr gutem Deutsch dabei. Auch dafür 5 Sterne.Ich wusste ja schon, dass der Stecker in unsere Steckdosen nicht passt, war also vorgewarnt aus einer anderen Rezension. Das finde ich ehrlich gesagt etwas blöd und unnötig. Dafür definitiv nur 1 Stern. Aber in einem gut sortierten Haushalt findet sich passender Ersatz.Ich habe die Box gleich an 230V angeschlossen. Leer! Es waren 19° in der Box (laut Anzeige) und es dauerte keine halbe Stunde, bis sie auf 0° heruntergekühlt war. Dafür 5 SterneWährend des Kühlens ist ein deutliches Geräusch zu hören. Wie bei einem Kompressorkühlschrank eben, nur etwas lauter. Ist die Temperatur erreicht, hört man nichts. Zusammengefasst 4 SterneMan kann die Temperatureinstellung sehr schnell und einfach vornehmen. Von Normalbetrieb auf Eco umschalten.Wir brauchen die Kühlbox nur für unsere Camperaufenthalte zum Kühlen des gefrorenen Hundefleisches (Barf). Nun aber lockt sie uns tatsächlich auch für Eis oder sonstige Leckereien für uns Menschen.Ich bin froh, die Box gekauft zu haben.Nach knapp einem Jahr fing die Box mit unregelmäßigen Kühltemperaturen an. Dann kühlte sie bei höheren Außentemperaturen gar nicht mehr. Die Werte des Displays stimmten auch nicht mehr mit den tatsächlichen Temperaturen im Gerät überein. Außerdem schließt der Deckel nicht richtig, sodass sich sehr viel Eis gebildet hat. Die Box ist kurz vor Ablauf der Garantiezeit kein verlässlicher Begleiter mehr. Kühlhalten von Eis geht gar nicht, weil tiefere Temperaturen als -6°C nicht erreicht wurden. Also ging die Box zurück.

Der Kühlschrank wird von Bolo UK verkauft und geliefert. Darum passt der Stecker nicht. Eine Reklamation ist nicht möglich, nur die kostenfreie Rückgabe des kompletten Kühlschrankes. Schade. Warum wird denn darauf nicht hingewiesen?
