5.0 out of 5 stars We caught the rat - and let it into freedom unhurt
Our cats regularly bring with them live presents through the cat flap - so the occasional rat, mouse, vole and other small creatures. Problem is sometimes to catch them! In particular the young rat one of the cats brought home was a particular clever one. It managed to survive happily in the kitchen for more than a week - and then I got our builder to uninstall the fitted fridge, remove all the skirting underneath the kitchen unit and after two our of hard work managed to flush the rat out ...... and into our living room where it was nowhere to be seen. Door were left open to the garden in the hope that it would leave. But NO it was here to stay. Next - it somehow managed to find the way into the garage. But there it had no food - and was getting hungry. We put the rat trap/ cage up with some cheese (Jarlsberg for good measures). And within 1/2 hour we had the teenage rat caught. It was put into the wild and scuttled of very fast. So success!Easy to set up - and it does work! Two in the pack in case there are more than one. Easy to clean after use.
1.0 out of 5 stars Don’t waste your money
Very cheap and flimsy and not upto the job, you get what you pay for
5.0 out of 5 stars Tried and tested method ...
These traps work well, especially if not used for a while - the adults are easily caught but are not easily fooled if the traps are left permanently in the same locations ...
3.0 out of 5 stars Not sensitive enough
Whilst the traps look ok they are not sensitive enough. Either that or we've got extremely clever mice/rats. We baited 1 trap with a Pringle lid with peanut butter on, well the lid disappeared but the trap didn't trigger, we baited the trap again with a block of wood with peanut on, the peanut butter went the trap still didn't go off. Funny really.
4.0 out of 5 stars Caught a starling
Does what it says but unfortunately captured a young starling which I set free .. yet to catch a rat , they seem to have disappeared since purchase
5.0 out of 5 stars Did the job!
Great that these traps came as a pair as I read that rats often come in pairs! This trap was easy to set up. In the first week, the rat must have gone elsewhere as neither of the traps were triggered. But we heard the rat again, set up the traps again and the next morning, there she was. We were able to transport the cage to a field about a mile away to release the rat and the house has been quiet ever since. This one we think was a juvenile, so maybe that's why there was only one. But glad to have both traps at hand!
1.0 out of 5 stars Buy something else. Anything.
Trap mechanism requires baiting a hook with something that won't fall off (unlike the majority of other traps out there with pressure plate systems). This has resulted in bait being taken without triggering the trap.Construction quality is not particularly high resulting in a trap that isn't sturdy enough to not make noises/move when a rat enters it.Cable ties do make contruction of the trap nice and quick. Take from that sentence what you will.
2.0 out of 5 stars Only one was functional
One trap worked correctly. The other could not be set. Poor quality control
