5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to use and compact
My old lab has had slowly worsening arthritis, and when we got a new car with a higher boot, he was really struggling to jump in. So I researched a lot before buying these steps for him. They have really helped, and he can now get into the boot easily. The advantages of these steps over a ramp, are that the ramps can be steep, whereas these steps are shallow and open out really wide. Additionally, ramps are very bulky to fold and store in the car if you need to take it with you, but these steps fold up to a very compact size, that fits in a footwell in the back seat. The steps are sturdy enough for my lab to feel safe climbing up them. With praise, treats, and encouragement, he was very pleased with himself on the first successful use, and has got used to the steps very quickly. My beagle did not want to be trained to go up the steps, because she's a beagle and doesn't want to be trained. But when she saw my lab go up first, and getting praise, she followed him up them without any issues, and now both dogs use them (though she, the beagle, doesn't actually need them as she can easily jump into the boot if she wants to). They are easy to use and open out. I can do this with two dogs' leads in one hand, and using my other hand for the steps. I've done it parked at the edge of a busy road, no problem. You just let them drop down and concertina out a bit, then use your foot to fully open them, which makes them solid. Just make sure the straps aren't caught in the mechanisms so that they open out properly first time.I made the right choice buying these rather than a ramp. They have made life much easier for my old boy! Well worth it, would recommend especially if you don't have loads of storage space for them either at home or in the car.
4.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant product.
I ordered a set of these steps for my Labradoodle he's 8 years old now and getting him in my car has been extremely difficult since he was a pup. They are beautifuly made and the quality is very good. I only have one gripe and that is the strap you use to secure it to the boot catch is not long enough and this makes it a struggle to attach to the car, 2 inches longer and it would be perfect. My dog mastered using the steps to climb in the car very quickly. He has refused point blank to come down them, but I'm not bothered as he's very happy to jump out of the boot. The steps fold up small eneough to wedge behind the drivers seat and are light to carry. I have only given 4 stars due to the strap being to short. I would definitely buy again.
5.0 out of 5 stars Strong and sturdy
I got this for my 11 year old Ridgeback. She was reluctant to jump in and out of the car but refused any help. She took to the steps straight away and is happy to come on walks again. Easy to use, they are strong and sturdy, with good padding to avoid scratching the car. Folded down, they fit easily in the footwell behind the driver's seat.
5.0 out of 5 stars Tried several but this was the keeper
UPDATE A year on and still as good as new, just muddier. No signs of wear and no requirement for the included spares yet. Frequently asked where I got them because of happy dogs using them without me and ease of setting and storing. One of my dogs was diagnosed with a damaged disc at C2/3 which means jumping in and out of the car is now out of the question. So ramp or steps? At 30kg I can lift him but I would prefer not to when he's returning from the mud pits in the woods.I decided on steps as ramps take up more room in the car and more room out of it when placed (unless so steep he wouldn't like to use it anyway). The first that arrived was flimsy and several joints separated as it was being opened. It was returned.Next was a better construction but the steps were designed for the fabric to become firm under paw by tension. It didn't feel adequate under my hand so I wasn't risking my dog.Another arrived of similar build but supposedly better quality. So heavy I sent it back. And then as I was beginning to despair I got this one. The scissor action of the structure is smooth, the build quality strong. All tubes have stoppers at the ends and spares are included just in case. The clip to hod it to the boot catch so it cannot slip away from the car is suited to purpose. But best of all are the treads. As with all of them the treads are fabric but unlike the rest each tread has a board in it making it feel secure under paw. Each step is deep enough to be ideally set under paws.Training the dogs to use it has been simple as they wear harnesses and so could be guided by the handle on the back. He was unsure the first time but has been fine since. His sister uses them to come out but usually jumps in while I'm setting them up. Because of the build strength there have been no warping with uneven ground either. After the initial set up, which always takes longer with something new, setting up takes 30 seconds. Taking down, about 5 seconds. They store in the footwell behind the front passenger seat. One word of caution. Do measure the height required accurately and get the corresponding number of steps. I thought I could get 5 to make a shallower walk in but it just made it unstable where it touched ground. 4 steps is ideal for my Vauxhall Meriva boot.At the time of writing these have been used daily for a month. Excellent product, highly recommended.
3.0 out of 5 stars Dog step
Very sturdy item and good quality but unfortunately have to return the product as it’s too steep for my dog, even in the stretched out option
5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant product
These steps are great - provides easy access to the boot. Will be great as she gets older and is unable to jump in.
4.0 out of 5 stars good value and a great product
My dog sits on my bed looking out the window, street patrol, arthritis has stopped him jumping up, he loves these steps, good value for money compared to some of the other more expensive ones. Only issue is they have to pulled right out or they collapse. Would be good to have a lock to keep them open. I just keep making sure its stretched right out.
Le prix et la qualité qui sont excellent!
J'adore! Mes 2 petits chiens peuvent maintenant monter et descendre à leur guise.
Easy to open and close.
Quick and easy to set up, seem sturdy enough.
Damaged product, guess it could work
