5.0 out of 5 stars Fiddly to use, but some amazing sounds to be had.
1st of all the software and setup iz a pain and the tonex software itself is a fiddle. But the unit itself is solid and seems well built. Your sound will only be as good as the amp capture used and it it's somewhat tweakable. But I've found some incredible 3rd party captures and once you’ve got your head around the eco system this thing sounds and feels like an amp. Incredible for the price. I pair mine with a Line 6 hx stomp and there's nothing that can't be achieved.
5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing amp sounds, easy to use and compact.
This is a fantastic pedal for bass and guitar that will replace multiple pedals. Easy to use with the added bonus of software for arranging banks. Recent update added modulation and delay to the already comprehensive amp and, compression, noise gate and reverb functions. Plug straight in to the return of your amp to bypass it's preamp stage for true sound fidelity.
4.0 out of 5 stars Great unit, with certain conditions attached.
This is a fantastic unit and the bundled software package is fantastic.Excellent value for money.*not impressed with the release of the anniversary edition, which has features etc that are only on that unit. That being i stand i still rate it as Excellent.Using the obvious comparisons with similar units, like the Line 6 HX Stomp: that unit is easier to navigate than the ToneX.That being said, I'm gonna run some tests over the course of 12 months and see where things are at.Super Positive Points:Fan-bloody-tastic amps. The choices available are very comprehensive with all the usual suspects and a few less loved ones. With this you "only" get six fx to play with, however, I feel fairly confident in saying that the peeps that'll be using this will have plenty of fx on hand!
5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic product and a real gamechanger
The Tonex pedal is up against some stiff competition in the market, such as the Strymon Iridium, the Boss IR-2, and the Kemper Player. It's built like a tank and really easy to use, although I don't find the software particularly intuitive. The amp models are fantastic and it pretty much has everything that you need to play a gig, including stereo outs. The compression and reverb are great, although if you want delay and modulation effects, you don't have those and you can add separately. I've already adopted this as the gigging backup for my Kemper. Since this came out, Kemper dropped their new player, which is slightly more expensive than the Tonex, so it remains to be seen whether it has a more integrated ecosystem.
5.0 out of 5 stars Nice back up
Lots of variety once you can get the app to work.Nice and compact. A version with a volume pedal would be better for my use though. I still struggle to get it sounding/feeling as good as playing through a valve amp on stage. Audience probably won’t care It I still feel better with an amp where that’s realistic.I don’t find the software particularly user friendly with far too many steps for basic functions.I still feel that my Kempers sound better for my use. I’ve had all the modelers and this is a fair one with good competition for the pricier alternatives.Sturdy and pedal board friendly too.
5.0 out of 5 stars Very real sounding amps
As long as you realise it's a capture device and not a modelling thing.... then you won't be disappointed.Tonex software amps on the go
5.0 out of 5 stars Right Price and right performance
Small form factor and the authenticity of reproduction and feel is fantastic.
5.0 out of 5 stars 5 stars for the pedal, less for the UI
The pedal is great, does exactly what the ads say.The UI is a clunky mess and needs a hefty rework in order to make it a nice place to be, especially regarding storing, ordering and importing/exporting sounds on your machine, however, it's functional and moving presets around in the pedal is easy. Also, Bolo's price undercut IKM by 30%.
Got this combo for a really good deal
I got the ToneX "One" pedal, earlier this year. I was so blown away by what they could pack into the small guy, that I had to check out the ToneX Standard sized version. I know a lot of people struggle with the software interface, but I really have had no problems getting this set up as quickly as my "One" and getting presets loaded and stored. It has limits and quirks, but when you know them and learn the software, this pedal is practically ridiculous at this price point. And I mean that in a very positive way. I ran through some patches and found a Vox AC 30 tone that was amazing, then played until midnight. The icing on the cake (with the deal that they ran) was the Capture unit being bundled and $150 less than if bought separately. I have an old Soldano Hot Rod and I can't wait to capture some of my favorite tones from it and throw them into the ToneX. If you have been on the fence about this, just get it. Esp if they offer some good combo package. Amazing with an ES8 switcher, or any controller.
Timbres inacreditáveis!
Mudei o nível do eu som com esse pedal. Facilitou muito minha vida! Sons muito reais e muito bem configuráveis! Recomendo!
Great tone for the price.
Pros: It's a versatile unit, with many vintage and modern cab tones to explore and download from the cloud. From the demos on the internet, it doesn't sound as good as a Quad cortex or Kemper, but for the price, it is a great deal and much lighter. I use it with a Line 6 Stomp HX for wet effects and a few overdrive/distortion analog pedals, and it works just fine. The cons are that you might need some time to dial in the different amps, the pedal's controls aren't very intuitive, and the PC/Mac software is kind of clunky. Still, it's worth the 5 stars because of the endless possibilities.
No serial number card or instructions in the box
I just received my Tonex today and the box did not include the serial number card to register the pedal/ get access to the software. There were also no instructions in the box.Ikmultimedia doesn’t have a support number to call, so I’m currently waiting on a email response with no luck so far. I will give them a few more days.Update- after about four days Ikmultimedia emailed me my serial number. The Tonex pedal is very well built and the stock pre sets sound amazing. It’s weird but the Tonex pedal sounds much better than using the software on my Mac with the same headphones. I feel this pedal is a pretty great value when you consider that the amp models sound better than the Kemper, it’s an audio interface, it comes with Tonex Max and Amplitude 5 software. I use this with a boost pedal and a delay but I also ended up ordering a GP200 on sale and will put the Tonex in its effects loop for aBetter effects solution with the amazing amp and cab models of the Tonex. It would have been nice if the pedal had more effects options but over all I would highly recommend because the amp models and cabs sound amazing. I probably should have removed a star for the lack of effects and missing my serial number card in the box, however it’s a great value, well built and sounds amazing so 5 stars for bringing this to market at this price point
