5.0 out of 5 stars Makes great coffee
Really happy with this machine easy to use makes lovely coffee I used costa ground and it tasted the same as if purchased from costa .it a good idea to put milk in fridge after use to keep it fresh ready for next use .I would recommend this machine .
4.0 out of 5 stars Confusing
The machine is absolutely amazing, makes some wonderful coffee. Only thing I'd say against it is slightly confusing to use at first and instructions are not the best. Still great coffee.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great machine
Very happy with this coffee machine. It makes great coffees that are as good as most coffee shops. Its fairly simple to use although adding coffee to the handle is obviously more of a faff then capsules, which we have used before, but this is less plastic waste and better coffee. We have the one with the milk tank and it froths the milk really well. We keep the milk tank in the fridge when not using, so don’t need to clean every day. Easy to clean when you do though.
1.0 out of 5 stars Very hard to get it work with
The only what if good about this machine is look otherwise very difficult to make a coffee . The buttons are very confusing and don’t even work properly. Got me a good amount of time to make one cup . The froth’s intensity is quite poor also . Just not what you would expect from good coffee to drink . Eventually we returned it and bought the Philips 2200 for £ 100 more and the difference is incredible which makes the adding money worth it .
5.0 out of 5 stars Mostly works well
Being a coffee snob with newly limited counter space, I've come to this 'compact' purchase from the large-heavy-expensive espresso maker side rather than from the pod-machine side. Compared to a full-sized machine this one seems light and flimsy. It shakes when it makes, and you have to put a finger on it so the vibrations don't send a small mug rattling off the tray. It also splashes a lot outside the machine because its surface area is smaller than normal machines. Sometimes it makes fine coffee (although, as others have said, lacking crema) and sometimes the pressure seems a bit low: if you press the two-cup button, one or the other side occasionally seems to be clogged or moving the water through in a drip-drip-drip rather than a flow. It also seems to think I need to descale it after ca 10 uses rather than 500, as it says in the manual (I do have hard water, but probably not that hard). After resetting the descaling sensor as detailed in the manual it seems to be working fine again, so we'll see - looks like this has been a problem for at least one other reviewer.[Edit: Have now got used to this machine and learned its ways, and am finding that it works reliably and well aside from a bit of splashing and having to remember to hold the cup steady or it'll vibrate off the tray.]
3.0 out of 5 stars Does the job well - and being compact, it fits on my home office desk perfectly.
I've given it 3 stars as I think it's a bit overpriced? I had 2 Morphy Richards espresso machines before this - I love the brand and loved the machines, but I remember them being around half the price? Anyway, I needed a new machine as the old Morphy Richards machine gave up the ghost after a long, long period of first-rate service. I chose the compact machine because I wanted it to fit onto my home office desk without taking up too much room - and this new compact machine is perfect. Unlike the old machine, however, the cups are measured, in that the machine stops when it reaches "2 cups" or "1 cup" and I tend to drink 3 x 2 cups in a large mug. The old machine just stopped dispensing when you pressed stop. But having to press again isn't a big deal really. The old machine had pressurised baskets which gave a superb crema, almost cappuccino-like like in thickness. The new machine baskets are different (not pressurised?) and don't do this, which I miss. Haven't used the frothing wand yet so can't comment on that.
4.0 out of 5 stars Game changer!
First time iv bought a coffee maker, did a fair bit of research before buying one and was pretty pleased with this.Takes a little getting used to but once you know what you are doing it definitely makes beautiful coffee, with the 3 coffee choices, latte, cappuccino, and espresso are great, you can also just have frothed milk for hot chocolate etc. i think this is much better than the machines that use pods! Less waste, less cost!Would recommend.
5.0 out of 5 stars My fifth machine and not disappointed so far.
I've had a few espresso machines over the years and as my last one sprung a leak decided to give this one a go. As I'm the only "real" coffee drinker in the house this miniature model seems ideal. The warm up time is quick and brew time reasonable, After running a tank of water through to flush it out I made my first mug of Americano. Now I'm slightly unorthodox in how I do this, first I fill the double cup loader with ground coffee then select two cups three times rather than use hot water to fill the mug. With this machine I just had to go 2-2-1 to get the same volume of brew, the froth was good and dense and it was hot, boy was the coffee strong! I'm either going to have to use less ground coffee or use hot water.I did think the scoop/tamper was rather large and cumbersome but I have plenty of spares to substitute, it vibrates a bit, but I've put that down to it's small size/weight.Overall I'm happy with this machine but can't comment on the reliability as yet but if you register the warranty on line get two years cover, I'll give it a few months to see, I bought this directly through Bolo so if it fails will have no problem replacing it, and that gives peace of mind. Most of the casing is stainless steel and seems well put together. Thumbs up!
