We were pleasantly surprised with the quality of the resources in this pack and the depth of the lore and story telling. You probably could race through the case and solve it in the suggested time or faster but we chose to really examine each piece of evidence and what it could tell us as we went along - we were so glad we did!The resources really are top notch quality with amazing attention to detail. Pages "torn from books" have jagged edges, newspaper articles have the other page on the reverse and the paper quality matches what the resource is meant to be - for example carbon paper. We were also impressed with the depth of the lore in the resources, for example there is a guidebook to the manor which not only looks the part - it genuinely could be a guidebook to a stately home.We had a really happy time, discussing what each piece told us and making notes, working on theories and then letting the story develop. All the information was there and we were able to piece everything together. The online resources were similarly deep in lore and quality.We were very happy with this item - I normally don't review products on Bolo but this was so outstanding I really had to share how much we loved it. We will definitely be ordering more from the series.

This game was well packaged and a lot of detail to it. My 13 year old solved the case in under 2 hours was a good laugh and good to solve. A lot of detail in the game and app would recommend and can’t wait to purchase more.

This is our second "Cryptic Killers" murder mystery after we played "Marine Biologist" last year. We chose this one because it has the same difficulty rating.It has a similar structure, where you digest the VAST amount of included evidence, crack a cryptic password to find more evidence online and then continue.This one was slightly different in that it's a "cold case" so it's really about solving a mystery and providing alibies from the list of suspects given at the start.This is different to "Marine biologist" where you have to compile a list of suspects and then whittle them down to the killer. That game is also in two parts. This is all the evidence all at once.Having said all that, although different, it is just as entertaining and the quality of the included "evidence" is first class. Very authentic and so much effort put into every piece.Once you realise this is done by a team of only FOUR people, this is truly incredible and price is a total snip.We got 4-5 hours of play time out of this and now ready to share with friends.Don't hesitate in buying any of these games. They are SO MUCH FUN for everyone and we will definitely be buying more of them to play as a family!

If you like a good challenge and are looking for a fun, relatively cheap date night idea, these case files are perfect! Thoroughly enjoyed cracking the codes!

The quality of these never disappoint, all the evidence and clues are done really well and will leave you looking and chatting for a good couple of hours, played this one and the murder of a millionaire one as well, both were great but this one is just a little less than the millionaire one, that’s why it isn’t 5 stars but still very very good.

We bought this to go through one night and found it to be quite fun.It's not too difficult and doesn't have annoying twists or turns. We eventually solved the case after about 2 hours. The characters and plot are well thought out.This was a great value for money activity.

I love these kinds of things and it was my first time doing one of these case files. I loved the fact you had an email to log into, hints if needed and it was such good quality. It took my partner and I about 3 hours. In the end I had to sleep on it and I solved the whole thing 🤣 Great to play on your own or with others!

I love this game/brand
This is perfect, it has the evidence and online components which are very well crafted. I like that if you lose a piece at some point in the future, there is the possibility of printing off another on the site it comes from. It was also super fun, not too easy and was a great experience. I am definitely going to buy more… when they’re on sale
Fun family game night!
We play a lot of these games and this one was pretty high quality. The clues are mostly paper based, with some audio and digital content. The paper clues are nicely done and look relatively authentic for the decade (fake carbon copies, sepia photos, and magazine and newspaper articles). I enjoyed the 1920’s theme, complete with an Egyptology professor, lady race car driver, and Gatsby-esque Long Island mansion. The historical accuracy isn’t perfect, but I have a pretty high bar having worked with authentic documents from various historical periods at different archives and historical societies. Digression aside, I appreciate the effort! The game play is enjoyable and the clues build as you read through everything. There’s at least one code to crack and more than one mystery to solve, which is more than just a straight read through and point a finger at a suspect like most of these games. We did find it surprising that it was 4/5 difficulty, being that we solved it without using any hints, however we have done many of these and are expert level at this point. Overall super fun time and we will definitely buy more of this brand.
Super fun and interesting mystery
I thought this mystery sounded really interesting, so I gave it a go, and I loved it! It’s just hard enough to make you work for the answer, but not too hard that it’s impossible. The clues are very clever and there are some really interesting pieces of the puzzle to look at and piece together. The quality is very good, too, and adds to the intrigue. I highly recommend, either for a single player like me, or for a group!

Totally worth it
This was a really fun activity. We saved it as a date night activity and spent about an hour and a half working out the answer. It was creative, well thought out, and the materials were high quality. We had a really great time worth together to solve it.I was skeptical that it wouldn’t be challenging enough, but I was totally pleased!I look forward to purchasing another one!
