Great value for the amateur photographer
I used this light for some product photography for my hand-carved wall art. I am not a professional photographer -- far from it. But this light and diffuser gave the piece a soft glow and really showed the contours well. I'm so pleased with my photos, that I'm using them instead of hiring a pro. This light was easy to install. I saw a few comments about difficulties screwing the light in. That was not my experience. Everything was simple to put together and remained very sturdy. Hopefully, I won't need more photography lights in the future. But, if I do, I will buy this again.
Economy & accessibility:
This review considers 2 perspectives which I used for research: 1) how this photographer’s light measures up to the price and 2) how accessible the light(s) are for someone with physical challenges (spec. arthritis, MS, visual impairment).I bought 2 lights for an upcoming shoot of antique glass. As a rule glass needs a ton of light exclusively from the back to pull the best detail out of photos. I needed flexible, powerful lighting that I could easily make micro adjustments to. I am also absolutely on a budget (the 800$ lighting suggestions are not an option). I have also lost over 94% of sensation in my hands and therefore compensate with moderately impaired vision. The price was right even for 2.I appreciated that I was prompted to stick with vendor packaging vs having the vendor boxes again boxed. The umbrella light frames + fabric seem very resilient and are not remotely flimsy. They also pack away very efficiently. They are expanded exactly the same way as a rainy day umbrella.**accessibility note: opening these umbrella frames requires the ring at the centre of the spokes to connect with ALL POINTS to the ring below at the same time. The connection can’t be made in stages—it is a precise movement requiring hand dexterity and some arm strength. My biggest concern was the stands—would they be reliable or had I again bought all-plastic that I would have to handle with extreme caution? The stands are awesome! Not only are they matte black painted (aluminum?) and very lightweight but they were designed to fold down very small by hinging the legs so they can fold completely backwards against the centre column. I have a single other stand for photography capable of this, it is carbon fibre and cost a whole lot more! The stands alone are worth the price.**accessibility note: the capacity for stand legs to fold 180* is less familiar. If you have sensory damage in your hands or have impaired vision this may present a pinch point. Just be aware. My only mild criticism is the diffuser—granted matching Velcro and all the corners of a many sided shape can be picky even without impaired vision and loss of sensation in fingertips. That said the diffuser could be swapped out for draped parchment paper.Overall entirely worth the price. The challenges to arthritic and nerve damaged hands can in my opinion be managed with familiarization of setup. It is also reasonable to assume the plastic will ease somewhat with use.Hope this longer comment helped your decision process.
Perfect Product
I recently purchased the Softbox Photography Lighting Kit, and I couldn't be happier with my investment. This kit has completely transformed my photography and video recording setup. The 20" softboxes provide soft and even lighting, perfect for capturing stunning portraits and product shots. The included bulb with a 5400K color temperature delivers excellent brightness and color accuracy. The 63" tripod stand is sturdy and adjustable, making it easy to set up and position the lights exactly where I need them. Whether it's for portraits, advertising, or video recording, this kit has elevated the quality of my work. Highly recommended for both beginners and professionals.
