This is so cool but at first I was so confused because I thought I was going to break it whilst opening but it is such a smart and genius way to protect the memory cards while being able to use them.The price point for the safety it offers is amazing and I would highly recommend it.

The SATECHI M.2 enclosure has enabled me to unlock lightning-fast 40Gbps speeds from my M.2 NVMe drives, eliminating the previous bottlenecks caused by slower USB ports.After I installed a high-speed Gen4 SSD and connected it to my Mac Studio using the included Thunderbolt cable, I was amazed by the real-world file transfer speeds. The speeds were crazy toping 20 Gbps. I can now effortlessly offload 8K video footage or save massive multi-GB project files in the blink of an eye. The enclosure utilizes a USB4 controller, delivering up to 40Gbps throughput to fully utilize the sequential read/write capabilities of the latest PCIe 4.0 M.2 drives. Even older Gen3 drives experience a significant performance boost when directly connected via the 10Gbps USB port. The connectivity is incredibly simple with plug-and-play functionality. The fact daisy chaining is supported as well just blows me away. I had high hopes for this device, the chip is designed for 40Gbps Gen 3, Windows only detected it at Gen 2 and transfer on WD_Black_850x was maxed out at 20Gbps. Their tech support is amazing, they get back to oyu very quickly and tried everything to resolve, but I ended up going for a Thunderbolt 4 enclosure that gave me the 40Gbps transfer speeds I needed, also the TB4 enclosure was cheaper!
4.0 out of 5 stars Super well made USB4 NVMe SSD Enclosure (Didn't work via Thunderbolt 4 port though)
I have several NVMe style SSD enclosures, ranging in quality and USB level support.This is by far the best build quality on one I own. It is very well put together, the casing includes fins for dispersing the heat and also removable polycarbonate (see through plastic) casing to further help with heat dissapation.Given how hot NVMe SSD's get when working at their fastest the size is larger and the caddy is heavier than other ones I own. This is better for ones that will get a lot of regular more heavy use, as it does allow for heat to escape. But for less regular use, then you may find more slimline versions.This enclosure worked fine off a USB-C 3.2 10Gbps port but NOT through a Thunderbolt 4 Port. Issue seems to be the enclosure. Possibly quality issue with the controller. Tried several other SSD enclosures via Thunderbolt 4- they worked fine. Also tried different USB4 cables with this enclosure, nothing.With it being USB4, as long as you use a correct cable (supplied), and are going to a USB4 or Thunderbolt 3/4 port then you should really be able to max out the SSD read and write speeds compared to older generation USB connections where this could be a bottle neck. That said it would not connect, no error message, nothing when connecting via Thunderbolt 4 port for me. I'm sure this must be a one off quality control issue though. I have contacted Satechi, will see what they say.One thing to note is that if you use a DRAMless NVMe SSD then HMB (Host Memory Buffer) doesn't work over USB connection. So that would have some impact on performace, but this is the case with all USB enclosures.If you need the top speeds then this is a very well made product. Hopefully Thunderbolt 4 issue is just one off quality control issue.

This SATECHI M.2 Enclosure is super high quality, very premium build quality and has USB-4 support (meaning fast reliable data transfer).I recently got a Gen3 drive so this might be a good alternative use for is as I had originally planned to use it in my PS5 only to learn I needed Gen4. Anyway, not to digress...The enclosure isn't the smallest I've seen but it feels extremely well made, almost an "if apple made hard drive enclosures" type of level. The drive was easy to install and it appears that other sized drives would also fit inside the enclosure.I've been using it as an external hard drive with my Xbox series X for older games to free up some internal storage and it's worked great. Overall a fantastic hard drive enclosure.

I Bought this Enclosure after I saw a review on youtube that a reviewer is saying this Satechi USB 4 ssd Enclosure gives 3300mb/s speed. This enclosure is not working. Don’t Buy it. Buy from any other manufacturer.

The case is nicely designed and well made. It comes with a short cable, thick heatsink strip and an outer polycarbonate shell. It's easy to open up and install the SSD. I tested it on an M2 Mac Pro Max Laptop using a Crucial T500 2TB SSD PCIe Gen4 NVMe M.2 CT2000T500SSD8 which I was already using in another 40GB case.Unfortunately I had some strange results. Initially it would only perform at 35Mb/s which is awful. I thought it may have been the cable , so I tried another one and got the same result. I removed the drive and plugged it back in again and this time got 900Mb/s R/W.I then tested it again and it got up to 1999 Mb/s read and 3000Mb/s write. At these speeds it's classed as very fast , but not optimal.I then put the drive back in my older ( cheaper ) case and I was back at 2800Mb/s for both read and write.I don't know why this case didn't perform the same 3000 Mb/s RW - I'll test it again if I get another high speed SSD but for now I was a bit disappointed.

I was using this with a Crucial NVMe (PCIe Gen3) so not quite giving it a full test but it definitely performed well with great read / write speeds. Very easy to fit - takes less than a minute, but then it's not that I'm swapping the SSD very often. It doesn't get more than slightly warm. Price reflects the high specification - you can pay a lot less if you are using lower spec hardware. Very pleased with it and it will future proof me for a good while.
Great SSD Enclosure
Hardware involved:SATECHI SSD EnclosureWD_BLACK SN850X SSD (WD_BLACK)Macbook Pro M2 (Mac)Dell Precision 7770 (Dell)Both laptops have Thunderbolt 4 ports capable of 40 Gbps (Gigabit not Byte)1. Mac - WD_BLACK - APFS Formatted: Over 3000 MBps read/write (MegaBYTE not bit). The best speeds I have seen. This is almost as fast write, but faster read than my Macintosh HD.2. Dell - WD_BLACK - NTFS Formatted: ~2200 MBps write and ~2600MBps read. The slowest out of all pictures but still quick. Not as fast as the Mac. Unfortunately is a little slower compared to the Dell's built in SSD (WD Green SN350).Additionally I decided to compare the exFAT formatted WD_BLACK between the Mac and Dell:3. Mac - WD_BLACK - exFAT formatted: ~2700 MBps write and ~3000 MBps read. Slightly slower write speed than the APFS Formatted version.4. Dell - WD_BLACK - exFAT formatted: ~2400 MBps write and ~2600 MBps read. Faster than its NTFS Formatted version, but still slightly slower to the Dell's built in SSD.Transferred over 600 GB of .iso files from my Dell to this Enclosure with the WD_BLACK and got an average of 1.3 GB per second. Copied everything over in under 8 minutes.Overall this enclosure proved that it works well with professional-grade machines like the Macbook Pro and Dell Precision series, with a preference over Mac, but still does well with a Windows machine (as long as it has Thunderbolt 4). Highly recommend using this enclosure to build a portable SSD over ANY portable SSD you may find at best buy. It might be more expensive but the $$$ is worth it!Also this thing looks like it came out of a James Bond movie! Super cool! Q would be blown away at this!
Very Fast
I have been using this drive everyday for about a month. I am very happy with its performance, I have installed a 2TB Samsung 990 PRO drive in it and it I have it connected to a 16" MacBook Pro with the M3 PRO. You can not tell the difference when using this drive or the internal SSD. It does get a bit warm but nothing crazy. The fit and finish is also very good and you do not need any tools to open and change the drive.Read: 3000MB/sWrite: 3200MB/sHighly Recommend

Ottimo prodotto, velocissimo e non scalda mai
Ho usato per più di 6 mesi un prodotto analogo, con velocità simili, ma che si disconnetteva di continuo. Seguendo il consiglio di altri utenti su Reddit, ho scoperto questo fantastico box compatibile con lo standard Thunderbolt 4, capace di raggiungere velocità reali di trasferimento dati pari a 40 Gbps. Collegato ad una porta di questo tipo di un Mac mini M2, ottengo risultati migliori rispetto allo stesso SSD presente all'interno della macchina. Uso questo box 24/7 da ormai un mese, e non ho mai avuto blocchi o surriscaldamenti. Super consigliato!

M1 pro macbook'da kullanmak için aldım, öncelikle bundan hızlı bir harici disk kullanmanız mümkün değil, benim kullandıgım m2 ssd ile 3bin okuma ve 3bin yazma değerlerine kolayca erişiyor, ancak biraz fazla ısınabiliyor, eğer cok sıcak bir ortamda yüksek data aktarımı yapacaksanız biraz sorun olabilir.
