5.0 out of 5 stars Invaluable short game insight.
This book is excellent, insightful and straightforward. The system approach that Dan takes, particularly to pitching, is a revelation for me and although I’ve far from ingrained this, I’m already seeing tangible benefits/ results. Dan’s approach takes the guess work out of swing length and distance control, enabling you to confidently hit your number. All of the info provided makes sense because of the way it’s put across. An easy read but an invaluable resource that can be easily referenced time and again.
5.0 out of 5 stars Genuinely useful
Most sports books are full of padding. This one is different. I have already learnt a huge deal. Improvements instantly (although I am shockingly bad). I beileve I will keep on learning from it for a long time to come. Looking forward to reading it again and again and practicing it's many techniques, all well explained.
5.0 out of 5 stars A detailed, easy to follow short game guide.
I was recommended this by a playing partner whose short game has improved immensely. The book splits the short game down into easy to understand concepts that you can take on to the course to improve your short game, just as long as you’re willing to practice. As someone who used to play off 9, but who’s returning to the game at nowhere near that level, this has really helped brush up on some of the things I was getting wrong, giving me a clear idea of what shot to hit in what situation, and with which club.Highly recommended for anyone that doubts their short game ability.
5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to follow
Simple advice which is easy to follow for a mid range handicapper with bullet point guidance which can be taken to practice and the course
5.0 out of 5 stars Short game expert
Dan advice on short game approach is simple an easy to followed. It has helped my short game so much since I have adopted his 3 releases approach. Thank you.
4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent coaching system
Clearly explained and with good pictures this book lived up to my expectations having watched his videos. Money well spent.
5.0 out of 5 stars The simplicity that lies on the far side of complexity
I have just bought, finished and re-read this book on the advice of Tom Kirtley Pro at Southwold GC, who thought it would be good for me.I have worked with different coaches for 10 years and have even produced my own ‘book’ with a combination of coaching advice I have received, classic teaching and further research.I’m a bit autistic and frankly I had reached the point where too much of it conflicted and I didn’t know what was right. This was almost worse than just leaving it to my natural sporting skills!I love coaching - and have qualified as both a rowing coach and football coach - so recognise and appreciate the huge value of good coaching. This book has bought a level of clarity, a precision of thought, a meaningful practical methodology and has also managed to embrace the human and psychological elements of actually playing the game on grass, that certainly my ‘book’ (and honestly even most of the coaching I have had) just did not come close to reaching.Thank you for producing this book. I can clearly see that it comes from a genuine place of wanting to help - and I think recognise some of the confusion that abounds amongst good-but-not-nearly-as-good-as-they-could-be golfers that frustrates and holds back so many.I have no idea whether you’ll sell millions, make millions or help millions, but you have helped me and I genuinely think that you written something different, important and on a higher level in terms of clarity and creating meaningful change. That is something beyond the norm and I suspect reflects your involvement with other interesting, intelligent people who have helped with cross-pollination and led to a really special piece of work.Somebody spoke to me recently - in business not sport - about ‘the simplicity that lies on the far side of complexity’.It is easy to say the above and very, very hard to achieve. Thank you.Benjamin
5.0 out of 5 stars Game changer
Quite simply, this book will change your understanding of how the short game should be approached. Easy to understand, no silly jargon and nothing repetitive, as many golf instruction books are! If you’re struggling from 100 yards in and around the green, this book is for you.
Transformed my short game
Dan’s advice on short game approach is simple and easy to implement. It has transformed my short game and given me confidence to get up and down from any position and/lie. The book has also improved my golf IQ and mental focus when chipping around the green. If you are serious about improving your golf game, this book is a must read.
Simple, to the point and effective.
Simple, to the point and effective. Follow up with youtube videos online but it is simple enough to grasp without them. I have seen MANY other golf instructors online and Dan is hands down my favorite for short game instruction.
Sencillo y pragmático
Un metodo sencillo para entender los principios basicos del chip y el pitch. Perfecto complemento a sus videos
Dan’s teaching has transformed my short game
Like many others, I first came across Dan Grieve on the Rick Shiels YouTube channel. In the year that followed, I implemented his techniques and it changed my game. Didn’t think I would need the book at first given the videos but I was wrong - it goes into a lot more detail than the videos and is so clear and easy to follow. I bought it on kindle and read it on my iPad and it’s perfect.
