    OK Hands up...although I'm a serious music-lover (hence "MusicMan"...) I am also a serious Gadget Geek and when I saw this little beauty on Bolo I just had to have one - especially as I already have the Fosi Audio DAC-Q4 and being delighted with it....Out of the box I am immediately impressed with the quality of the K5 PRO, it feels and looks gorgeous.....silvery brushed aluminium....also included are three cables, a USB data transfer/power cable, a splitter cable to separate the mic. and headphone inputs and an optical (Toslink) cable.I get the unit connected firstly to my computer and power up the K5 PRO, a 3-second press on the right-hand MODE/VOL knob and there is a reassuring "click" as a relay closes internally and the left hand statue LED illuminates to (by default) USB input. (Each subsequent press moves the input to the next input selection). Worth mentioning here that this K5 PRO only requires one cable connection to my PC for power and data transfer whereas my older Q4 need 2 cables, one for power and a second for data transfer.....a bit cumbersome and the K5 PRO is much better in this respect....I must confess to not being particularly a gamer, I found the K5 very satisfactory and it worked very well....someone else with more experience in this area might like to add comments....meanwhile I will concentrate on the Audio quality on all the inputs on the K5PRO.USB PC CONNECTION.No problem with the PC recognizing the K5 PRO.....With the Bass and Treble control set at 12 O'clock I cue up one of my favourite songs, WAV of Emmylou Harris "Kern River" and immediately here a very clean, clear sound, crisp mids and highs and good firm Bass line.....next a 24/192 Hi Res of Roger Waters "The Bravery of being Out of Range".....again impressive good clean sound. (By the way I use Audio Technica ATH-WD900 cans plus a pair of OneOdio ones as well....both sounded excellent.I decide, out of interest, to compare this K5 PRO with my older Q4 (see the 5th picture for size comparison)......first thing I notice is an improvement is the Bass response of the K5 PRO, slightly less "lumpy" and also the mid-range on the K5 PRO is cleaner and a little more "forward in the mix" compared with the Q4....a smoother frequency response. All in all a really good start for the K5 PRO....let's move on to ....OPTICAL DIGITAL INPUTI particularly love watching Music videos on TV so I connect the K5 PRO to my TV via the Toslink cable and play Pink Floyd "P.U.L.S.E. "Comfortably Numb".....superb!! After detecting a very slight latency, easily cured by adjusting my TV sound setting, I thoroughly enjoy this great recording....top marks here....moving on to the S/PDIF input...S/PDIF COAX INPUT I connect my FiiO M15S S/PDIF on the 3.5mm output to the coax input on the K5 PRO and run a Hi-RES 24/96 recording of Eagles "Hotel California" and I'm immediately in the groove man!! again, top marks.By the way at all times the e.q. settings are at 12 O'clock and tests show these work very well with improvements in treble being handy on older "duller" mp3 files...I have a few at 256mbps....IN SUMMARYCan I recommend this Fosi Audio K5 PRO device?? You bet,Any improvements??....yes perhaps a 4.4mm balanced headphone out would be nice and I found the indents on the e.q. controls not always easy to see and I would like to have a slightly larger volume control knob like on the Q4....but really I am splitting hairs as this is a really good little DAC with excellent sound quality.Highly recommended and I hope this helps you.

    This little amp is a quality product, it arrives well packaged in a smart box with simple instructions and a selection of leads. The leads themselves felt a little bit on the cheap side but perfectly good for the task, I suspect most audiophiles would buy their own leads anyway.The amp itself feels very solid, with an all metal case (no cheap plastic here) that has a nice satin finish, it isn't going to win any style awards with its functional looks, but still manages to convey a pleasing aesthetic that isn't going to look out of place in any setup.The amp was very easy to install and setup, literally plug and play on my PC with no fussy drivers to worry about. It all worked straight out of the box, and it worked very well indeed! The sound is great, with no noise and very clear highs and lows. My onboard sound is pretty decent on my MSI X470 Pro, but I would compare it to the difference between listening to an MP3 and then a FLAC of the same song. Like night and day!Overall this feels like a quality product that punches above its weight in all regards, I was so impressed I immediately bought another one for a family member who appreciates good audio. I don't think you can go wrong at this price point.

    I've been using this since I bought a pair of Hifiman he400 headphones and finding that my PC motherboard was impotent for driving decent headphones. For the price it is down the cheaper end of DAC amps but it's served me well.I've purely used optical input as I used to experience electrical background noise via other connections but it's been more than up to the job. The Sundara headphones I most recently purchased have found the limit of its ability but it is even still able to drive them to a very acceptable standard, I'm upgrading to see if they react better to a stronger source (as well as balanced output which I don't believe this unit can do).To be honest I would have been fine with the volume and quality as things stand, it's already able to hit levels that are not ideal for the ears and create bass as smooth and low as you could want at this price point.The point that goes against it hitting 5/5 is the volume knob which hits max at about 90% of it's rotation. More of a 4.5/5 but not worthy of full marks.Other than the sound side of things it's very well made, the knobs are a little cheap in feel and hard to see unless lit up with just one small detent on each so you can feel them stop at the 12 o'clock position isn't ideal but gives some feedback to go in blind with.I highly recommend this based on how it's performed for me, being able to run planar magnets is quite a plus point and the fact it's been turned on near enough 24/7 since April '23 has to be worthy of some credit.

    Amazing Deal for a DAC / headphone Amplifier

    I have used iBuds Pro, Shure SE215 in-ears, Sennheiser HD 650, AKG K553 MKII and a group of cheap earbuds. The Fosi improved the clarity and separation of the sound coming from my Mac and made all of the headphones sound better and it handled them all well. I was able to pick up subtle nuances and sounds that I had not heard listening straight from the Mac sound card. It does not sound as good as my Universal Audio interface, but I wasn't expecting it to for less than 10th of the price. It does sound amazing though and is hitting way above it cost. It is a quality built metal chassis, small form, Volume, Bass and Treble buttons that I love. I like tinkering with the sound depending on the song and this makes it very easy. Volume boost is good and can get loud without distorting. It's not blow your ears loud, but definitely louder than the Mac by itself. I am glad I found this, it made listening to my computer and phone much more pleasurable and is small enough to take with me.

    Compre este dac para conectar un tv sin salida Aux a través de la salida de audio óptico, las tv sony 2023 por alguna razón ya no traen salida Aux, averiguándo equipos me decidí por este fosi k5 para poder conectar mi tv a mi estero sony genezi gtx88, de la salida Optica de la tv lo conecte a la entrada óptica del dac fosi k5 y del fosi a mi Estereo sony genezi lo conecte a través de la salida de rca. El audio mejoro notablemente y lo mejor es que se puede ecualizar los graves y agudos esto es un plus para los que tenemos estéreos antiguos y los botones ya no responden, con este fosi se puede ecualizar independientemente del estéreo. Es un gran equipo, no es voluminoso por lo que se puede instalar en cualquier sitio. Como fuente de energía ocupe conectarlo directamente a la toma de corriente de pared, ya que al querer conectarlo vía usb directo a la tv si encendía el dac fosi pero mi tv sony lo detectaba como si le hubiera conectado unos auriculares y eso hacía como que hubiera una interferencia en cuanto al tipo de señal que salía y como que el equipo fosi se confundía, es decir no sacaba sonido aun estando en optico y ajustando la tv a audio pcm. Esto se solucionó conectando el equipo directamente a la toma de corriente de pared, lo mencionó porque solo trae el cable usb c pero no incluye el conector o enchufe (México) aunque eso se consigue fácil. Los materiales son de calidad y robustos con diseño elgante. Lo único que le faltaría a este fosi k5 y al fosi q4 es que tuvieran Bluetooth Rx/Rx y serían los equipos perfectos. Los recomiendo mucho. Los cables usb c , cable óptico y el adaptador Aux para micrófono se ven de buena calidad, sobre todo el optico se ve más grueso que los normales, incluso se parece a los cables ópticos que traen los equipos bose, no así el cable rca, el cable rca que viene si se ve chafa de mal calidad, si vas a ocupar cable rca mejor cómprate uno de mejor calidad como ugreen. Excelente compra, lo recomiendo.

    Purchased this audio DAC because i was excited to see that FOSI AUDIO had just come out with a DAC that included headphone microphone input. I was an early adopter of this product and actually paid a premium price through Bolo USA, shipped to Canada. I knew the similar FOSI Q4 had an excellent reputation for sound quality but unfortunately did not suit me because of the lack of microphone input.In come the FOSI AUDIO K5 MINI PRO.. I had to give this DAC a try. As soon as you handle this product you know you are getting a quality piece of equipment. Setup is easy, all you do is plug it into your computers USB port. No driver install, just tell your computer to play the audio from the device in your sound setup. Even comes with a dongle to allow for a combined audio/mic headphone set to plug into the separate jacks on the device.Audio quality - 10/10 excellent and an absolute steal for the asking price that I am now seeing on Bolo as of DEC 29/2022Microphone quality - 10/10 If you online game your friends are going to think you have a very fancy microphone with this DACs ability to amplify the microphone input. It can be almost too clear and loud on some headsets but this can be adjusted in the windows input microphone level settings and turned down.I did need to get support from FOSI and they immediately and quickly helped me with my advanced technical question and had my device working well with all my equipment. (I use quite a few different headphones w/mics and had an issue with one of them which FOSI solved)This K5 MINI PRO is on par with some of the very expensive DACS out there.There is only two features I wish that FOSI would add. Some sort of "go to sleep mode" and "auto wakeup on sensing sound" to have this unit automatically turn off after say 30min of inactivity and wake itself when needed. The other would be a volume adjuster for the microphone input. These are just wishes to make an already excellent product even better.You will not be disappointed with this product.
