We bought this for my nephew and he has loved playing with it. I prefer the magnetic wooden fruit and veg to the velcro as some of our old velcro pieces have come away, meaning the toys don't stick together so can't be chopped. This set comes in a handy tray for tidying too.

This is a very sweet set, colourful and cute, although some of the fruits are a bit obscure! I do also like that it comes in a little wooden tray to keep everything together.Lots of these kind of sets are available with magnets instead of velcro, and although the magnets do snap together a lot better, and the fruits fit together much neater when they do, looking more like a whole piece of fruit, I'm always torn as to whether to order the magnetic kind because a piece of velcro coming off (as one did on one of the fruits in this set) isn't a big deal. You don't want it to go in a young one's mouth, but it's not the end of the world if it does. Whereas a magnet is a very very dangerous thing, if it were to come loose somehow, and you weren't paying full attention at that very moment. Swallowing a magnet is an immediate trip to A&E, and that's assuming you were lucky enough to see it going into a child's mouth. So I'm always a bit wary of combining kids and magnets.Here we have a set of velcro cutting fruit, which makes me a little easier, and the fruits are very cute indeed. The colours are lovely, and everything is scaled to a child's hand-size. After a week of play, a few of the fruits have points at which the paint has chipped a fraction, but kids will be kids, and these have been rolled all over the hardwood floor, thrown a few times, and probably kicked a few more when I wasn't looking, but generally they still look great.The velcro dots in each piece of fruit could have been a bit bigger, I think, as they occupy only a small part of the cut area, so their grip isn't very good. We've also had one circle of velcro come off already, so time was spent going through the rest and checking them, so that I know they're on tight.In all though, I think these are a lovely set, and the thing about wooden toys is that they generally look nice enough to be left out all the time on shelves and the like. I do love giving wooden toys for gifts as well, as some parents prefer them and try to avoid plastics.

The wood quality is excellent, with a smooth surface and no chemical odors, which is so important for children's toys. The size of each piece is just right for little hands, and the velcro holds well. and It's easy for my kids to “cut” the vegetables with the included wooden knife.These fruits and vegetables are so pretty! Some of them even have stems made of felt. And the colors are bright.One thing I like is the unique selection of items. My kids were curious about the lotus root and dragon fruit, which they hadn't seen or eaten before, making this set both fun and educational. It’s a great starter set for pretend kitchen play, and even if your kids already have a play kitchen, this makes a wonderful addition with its unique fruits and veggies. It also comes with a wooden box, which is really useful for encouraging the kids to tidy up after playing and keeping all the pieces organised.

My son is delighted with this food set and I'm very happy as it is wooden, with no plastic. All the little items even store in a wooden crate.My son loves that the fruits and veg are in two pieces joined by velcro, so he's able to pretend to cut them in half.He recognised most items but some are more unusual such as aubergine. The set has taught him and we've chatted about what ways we could eat them.

This wooden set of fruit and veg are really good. Well made, nicely painted, handy tray with good deep edges great. The wooden knife easily chops through the fruit and veg in preparation for cooking. Nicely presented in a box so ideal for gifting, and priced at £21.99 at the time of this review
