I bought this book for my daughter who is having lessons. Level one is right hand only. Level two is both hands, and it is certainly not beginners level. I class myself as a beginner with a little more experience than my daughter and struggle with the arrangements. The only reason I am keeping the book is because she will eventually be able to play songs.

Some of the songs are the American version for example Away in a Manger’s tune. I prefer the English version.

For all those who wish to learn to play the piano, this fun book introduces concepts that should engage children’s (and intrigued adults) attention and imagination and desire to ‘make their own kind of music.’ As the Introduction states, ‘All you need in addition to this book is a piano or keyboard and some time to practice. Remember – practice makes perfect, and the wide range of songs in this collection will make practicing a true pleasure.’ With excellent graphics the images of keyboard notes are paired with the letters of the notes (C, D, E, F, G, A, B, C) and the way those notes appear on music scale paper. The aspects of the keyboard are explained, instructing the student to put the finger on the C note – middle C to begin. Notes on recognizing the treble clef sign, the differences between whole notes, half notes, quarter notes, eighth notes, and how to place the fingers on the keys – all well illustrated – lead to the pages of songs based on well known Christmas carols.Excellent illustrations, including art to accompany the themes of the various songs, make this little book not only instructive, but also entertaining on several levels. Recommended for curious musical minds.

You will be prepared for musical Christmas celebrations in no time thanks to this book, which is divided into three difficulty levels and begins with a lesson on the fundamentals of reading music notation.It can be difficult to learn from a book, but sometimes using audio and visual aids can be beneficial. That’s why the publishers of this beginner piano book included a special feature. There is a QR code next to the title of each piece of music. To hear exactly how the music should sound and to see exactly how to play each note, all you have to do is scan the QR code to access a video of that song being played on the piano. Speeding up or slowing down the video can help you learn the song at your own pace.This has got to be among the best resources for learning the piano that I've ever read. Despite the fact that I have long been self-taught, after reading this book I realized how much simpler it would have been for me to learn. I can’t wait to teach my grandchildren how to play and this is going to be the book I use to do it! Highly recommended and a well-deserved five stars from me.

I think this book is a perfect Christmas gift for everyone who would like to learn to play piano. All the best of Christmas songs (I know a lot of them and I couldn't resist but hum along), plus notes and keys. Everything is perfectly explained.There are 30 great songs, some you can play with one hand, some with both. Before every section, there are explanations as to what each note or sign means. So simple and so beautiful. Make it look so easy to learn piano.
