I needed a gtx running shoe in wide fit. I wanted another pair of hokas but they don't do gtx shoes in wide (I have bondi 8's). I didn't think I could find and alternate to my Hoka's to be honest (I tried many brands) but these are exactly what I needed. Very roomy and well designed for the anatomy of the foot. They are wide enough that your toes are in the correct position and not squashed into improper alignment like other running shoes. They are cushioned without being too soft so are responsive enough for me whilst minimising impact to my joints. They felt neutral/balanced to run in. No need to break them in they were comfortable from the first run and I have very delicate blister prone skin. They look very chunky on the feet which is an adjustment but they meet all of my needs. Very happy. Only slight issue is that I had to stop to re-tie the laces twice during a 5k. They came undone when running. This seems to be due to the style of laces, they don't hold well. This might get better as time goes on and the fabric settles 🤞. If not, I will replace the laces. The actual colour looks more of a dark slate grey with a hint of blue rather than a true black. Not a major issue, just something to be aware of. I would highly recommend, lost a star for the laces, otherwise would have been 5 star.
Comfortable, good fitting trail runners for the PCT
I transitioned from the Olympus 5.0s to the GTXs for a backpacking trip through the Sierra Nevada mountains on the Pacific Crest Trail last month. The shoes held up extremely well. The 33 mms of cushioning protected my feet from the often rocky terrain. The sole gripped the decomposed granite trail very well. I liked the wide toe box (big reason why I’ve backpacked in Lone Peaks and Olympus Altras). The GTXs seemed to dry out fairly quickly after fording streams when I couldn’t rock hop across. Until I find something better, the GTXs will be my go-to trail runners for backpacking. For the price (under $120), I bought two additional pairs for future backpacking seasons.

Ich finde die Marke Altra mit den breiteren Vorfussbereich sehr gut für meine Füße, insbesondere weil man Trailrunner nicht so leicht austreten kann. Der Schuh ist stabil, gibt einen guten Halt, hat eine etwas härtere Sohle und ist etwas auf der schwereren Seite, also weniger für Wettbewerbe. Beim Innenfutter muss ich anmerken, dass mir dieses zu leicht kaputt geht, deshalb auch nur 4 Sterne.
