5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic value podcast pic with dual USB and XLR input options
The media could not be loaded. I think this is one of the best value, budget microphone combinations you can get on the market right now. This is the K688 microphone from Fifine, fitted to the BM88 low profile microphone arm. This is an absolute fantastic microphone for those of you who want that nice podcasty look or just want a low profile microphone setup on your desks. What you're hearing right now is audio coming directly out of that microphone. So you can hear that is very, very nice quality and clear. This is a dynamic cardioid microphone, which means it's a directional microphone, which reduces environmental noises and kind of background surrounding noises. The best thing about this microphone is that it's a dual input microphone. It's got USB-C and XLR inputs, which means that if you've got an audio interface, then you can use that XLR input for even better quality audio. So for those of you on the hunt for a good quality microphone, I would definitely recommend.
5.0 out of 5 stars AWESOME!
Build quality: The quality of the mic is really good and feels really sturdy.Sound quality: Replacing my Hyper X Quadcast, this mic has been awesome! works great with and without a mixer and some may say it may be a MUCH cheaper alternative to the shure SM7 mic's ;)Issues: Personally, I've not encounted any issues, adjusting the mic quality to get it to be "nicer" or for my voice to "appear/sound" nicer to others took a bit of messing around, but out of the box should work perfectly.Overall I rate this a 5/5 as I've had zero issues, the build quality is good and the sound quality is exceptional.Recommendation: I recommend if wanting RAW performance, to get an XLR cable and hook it upto a mixer, preferably the Fifine Gaming Audio Mixer.Price: The price COULDN'T get any better, this mic is a steal! You wouldn't be disappointed buying this mic!
5.0 out of 5 stars A great lower priced alternative to the Shure SM7B
Being a dynamic microphone, the K688 is best suited to situations like podcasts, where the user is the focus. The reason for this is due to the fact dynamic microphones are far less sensitive than condenser mics, requiring the user to be closer (around 2-6 inches from the diaphragm), and in doing so allows them to isolate your vocals and reject background noises far, far better. The K688 is a dual XLR/USB microphone, which means if you already have an audio interface or mixer, then you just need to connect via an XLR cable (not included) and you're away.If you haven't jumped into the world of XLR just yet, then you can connect the K688 via the USB-C to USB-A cable and it's up and running - albeit not quite at the same sound quality of the XLR - but it is one of the best sounding USB mics around. However, the combo route means that should you upgrade your audio gear later down the line, the K688 is able to accommodate the change to XLR.The K688 looks and feels fantastic, with a metal body and metal shock mount, along with the best feeling pop filter I've ever felt - it's almost velvet feeling, that whilst a little too thin on the top, it feels absolutely wonderful. The pop filter whilst feeling absolutely dreamy, is a little too thin, especially at the top, and because of the K688's capsule not being fully recessed from the grille, this means it doesn't reject plosives quite as well at times, but with proper microphone technique and position, this can be rectified - you could also tug the pop filter up a little more to create more of a distance, but this may also effect vocals. The K688 is a genuinely good microphone, and it offers a great opportunity to those already in the XLR scene, and those that just want a plug-and-play USB microphone with the option to upgrade to XLR later down the line.
4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent value for money
If you're a new podcaster, YouTuber or live streamer looking to buy your first microphone, everyone will tell you to buy the Shure SM7B, because it's what 95% of all the big content creators use. Problem is, it's very expensive. The good news is you can get excellent sound quality for a fraction of the cost. That's where the Fifine K688 comes in. The sound is clear and well balanced with a natural low end and smooth highs. The build feels fine. It's a dynamic microphone, which means it's more directional than condenser mics such as the Yetis or HyperX's, meaning it cuts out more of the background noise but you need to have it closer to your mouth. Conveniently it has both a USB and XLR connection, so if you don't have an audio interface you an just plug it into your PC, however the mute button only works via USB.I've deducted a point from the sound, because the one negative it has is it's very sensitive to knocks and handling noise. Touching the body or moving the cable will result in very audible noise, probably the worst handling noise of any mic I've ever tried.
5.0 out of 5 stars It's excellent.
I stream and I record and if you set this up right, it's a very wise investment.
5.0 out of 5 stars Insane recording for a brilliant price
I think this is one of the best value, budget microphone combinations you can get on the market right now. This is an absolute fantastic microphone for those of you who want that nice podcasty look or just want a low profile microphone setup on your desks. It has some incredible features and is built to last, two years I have been using this item and super happy with it! wont be using anyone else but fifine <3
1.0 out of 5 stars Poor Quality. Save up and buy a Shure SM7B.
I opted for this mic as it looked good and was relatively cheap. Turns out you get what you pay for as the audio quality was abysmal with my pre amp. I returned it and saved up and bought the SM7B which is top quality, and will last years.
