    Pioneer Internal Blu-ray Drive BDR-S13EBKThis is a great Blu-ray drive with quiet performance. I could hardly hear it working. The writing speed maybe not super fast for some users but for me it feels reliable to ensure efficient data storage and backup. As a reliable brand, this Pioneer product also shows excellent reliability and stability. Hopefully it will perform consistently and withstand regular use. I also like its simple but aesthetically pleasing front design, adding a touch of elegance to my computer setup. I have been using it for normal Blu-rays and never had a problem so very happy with it.

    With a branded product such as this you do have increased expectations. I would say it’s not off to the best start when the main part of the until is great rather than the black advertised. Not an issue for me but in a case with a glass side it won’t look great.Still, I’ll focus on how well it works more than cosmetics, as the front panel is right and looks good. If you do need an internal Blu-ray writer then this is a solid choice. Reliability from this brand should be good and performance has been spot on.Noise is about the same as usual and speed is very good. Especially given this has tech to reduce errors when ripping media. Writing is done in good time without issue. Play back is smooth as butter. Everything you’d hope for.The software is cyberlink. A well known software that works very well. There are lots of free alternatives as well, including pioneers Blu-ray utility software.I do feel the price for this is quite high but this is for the reliability and maybe aimed more at professionals than an average user. Anyone can use it though, the guide included is very good, and I’m happy with it.

    This is a Pioneer product and so has nice packaging, although for the price I would expect a bit more. It won’t blow you away, let’s put it that way.These are my main pros and cons for this drive:Pro:Good build qualityIncluded software bundleLatest PureRead error correctionCompatible with Windows 8.1 / 10 / 11Ultra 4K playbackStylish front panelNoise level is fineCon:Ultra 4K is limited on newer Intel CPUs (?)Requires SATA connectionFar too expensive for features on offerBody is standard grey bare metal and labels, not stylish black like the front—----------So what we have here is an internal BluRay player / writer for PC. It has lots of bells and whistles (such as 4K) over a normal unit, but there are also strange limitations. You can buy a standard BR rewriter for less than half this price and personally I don’t think the extras make sense for 99% of potential users.Basically if you want Ultra 4K disc compatibility (and can live with its limitations) then give this a look, otherwise save a big chunk of cash and get a normal unit from pretty much any brand these days.

    I found the advert wasn't clear. This is meant to connect internally to a pc. It's not designed to sit on your desk.The quality of the build and everything else is great, but unfortunately that wasn't clear in the advert. Make it clearer and this would get 5*

    This Pioneer internal CD/DVD drive fits into a desktop PC, either to replace an existing drive or as an additional one. It is compatible with windows 8.1,10 and 11. The fitting is fairly simple and clear instructions are included in the instructions booklet.Once Installed the cyberlink media suite can be downloaded and installed on the PC. The following software can be downloaded for free, PowerDVD, Power2Go, Labelprint, PowerDirector, AudioDirector, ColourDirector, PhotoDirector and Pioneer BD Drive utility.Some cool features, Pureread 4+ uses an algorithm to minimise data errors when importing data called ripping. This same software is used for audio playback using the original CD data. This unit is also compatible with ultra HD blu-ray.The design of the front panel looks good and it has a small hole on the left for emergency release of the tray. To conclude a very good unit with software that works very well.

    It does better than a lot of other hardware at reading questionable disks but some blurays have proven to be highly unreliable for backup storage. Nothing will read them any more. I like it but don't expect miracles.

    Lecteur graveur Pioneer BDR-S13EBKmontage interne standard.Le lecteur est très silencieux, la lecture des CD audio est excellente, le fichier ripé d'un album est validé à 100% (ce qui n'était pas le cas avec le modèle Asus concurrent - mais moins cher).La gravure d'un CD audio (copie) est relativement lente, mais le Pioneer calibre celle-ci en fonction du média vierge utilisé. Et le résultat est bluffant : enfin des copies de CD audio vraiment proches voire identiques à l'original, comme au bon vieux temps des Plextor Premium ou des graveurs de salon.En ce qui concerne les bluray, difficile de se prononcer sur la copie de films, cela ne semble pas fonctionner en 4K. Le disque 4K n'est pas reconnu, mais je n'ai pas vraiment "fouillé" dans les possibilités.Pour la sauvegarde de données, c'est top, rapide et sans bruit.On verra pour la durée de vie, mais c'est un produit qui semble qualitatif.

    Cannot play 4k UHD discs. Movie company forced copyright protection that removed decoding from the drive to the player...then got rid of all the players abilities. The only way to properly view them now would be to illegally modify the drives.Thank the greedy corps for not allowing you to own anything anymore

    Exzellentes Laufwerk, aber mitgelieferte Software kaum funktionsfähig unter Windows 11

    Beim Auspacken fiel mir die besonders hohe Qualität der Materialien und der Verarbeitung auf. Alles wirkt sehr solide und stabil. Um das Laufwerk mit unterschiedlichen Rechnern und Betriebssystemen nutzen zu können, habe ich entschieden es in ein eigenes Aluminium Gehäuse mit SATA zu USB-Anschluss einzubauen. Ein passendes Gehäuse habe ich hier auf Bolo gefunden und mit wenigen Handgriffen zusammenbaut.Das Laufwerk wurde von Windows und von MacOS sofort richtig erkannt. Ich habe verschiedene Datenträger eingelegt und völlig problemlos lesen können. Dabei ist sind die ausgesprochene Laufruhe und der vergleichsweise sehr leise Betrieb aufgefallen.Im nächsten Schritt habe ich unter Windows eine unbeschriebene DVD-R eingelegt, ohne irgendwelche Brennsoftware. Das Betriebssystem hat mir angeboten es beschreibbaren/lesbaren/löschbaren Datenträger zu mounten. Mit simplen drag-and-drop habe ich den Datenträger angefüllt. Auch das hat problemlos funktioniert. Diese DVD-R habe ich am Mac eingelesen, wieder problemlos.Da das Brennen von BR-R mit Bordmitteln nicht möglich ist, wollte ich die mit dem Gerät gelieferte Software installieren, die laut Beschreibung Windows 10 und 11 unterstützen sollte.Bevor das möglich ist, muss man sich zuerst auf der Webseite des Herstellers CyberLink registrieren, erst danach kann man die auf der Rückseite der Bedienungsanleitung angegebene Registrierungsnummer eingeben und ein Installationsprogramm laden.Leider wurde das Installationsprogramm sofort von Windows 11 abgebrochen. Zurück auf der Webseite von CyberLink erfahre ich, dass das Programm unter der aktuellen Windows 11 Version nur dann ausgeführt werden kann, wenn man "Smart App Control", eine der Kernfunktionen des Windows Sicherheitssystemes, deaktiviert.Anstatt voll funktionsfähiger Software, liefert Pioneer das Gerät mit völlig veralteter Brennsoftware aus, die nicht zu den Sicherheitsfunktionen (!) des heute aktuellen Standard-Windows kompatibel ist. Die Empfehlung, das Problem durch das Abschalten einer wesentlichen Sicherheitsfunktion von Windows zu "lösen", finde ich abenteuerlich.Nicht genug damit: Teile der versprochenen Software können selbst bei deaktivierter Sicherheitsfunktion nicht geladen werden. Cyberlink schreibt dazu:" .... However, we are still verifying InstantBurn/LabelPrint/Mediashow/MediaEspresso and will resume download them at a later date."Glücklicherweise habe ich bei einem anderen Hersteller eine wirklich ausgezeichnete Brennsoftware für Windows 11 gefunden, die dieser in einer light-Version kostenlos anbietet. Am Tag nach der Installation, hat mir dieser Hersteller angeboten, diese für €20 auf eine Vollversion zu erweitern, was ich gerne getan habe.Mit dieser Software arbeitet das Pioneer Laufwerk perfekt zusammen bei CDs, DVDs und BlueRay.Es funktioniert einfach alles fehlerfrei.Dieses BlueRay Laufwerk ist das mit Abstand beste optische Laufwerk, das ich je benutzt habe. Ich habe keinerlei Bedenken mit diesem Gerät Datenträger für die langzeit- Lagerung anzufertigen. Trotz des unzumutbaren Softwarebundles halte ich die Anschaffung des Gerätes für empfehlenswert.Man sollte jedoch berücksichtigen, dass für die Anschaffung von funktionierender Brennsoftware mit zusätzlichen Kosten zu rechen ist.
