Description:

About this item:

  • Pioneer New/Updated firmware 2023 included.
  • 【Industry-leading 16x1 (max) writing speed on BD-R (SL : 25GB)】 This drive combines Pioneer reliability and high performance with high-speed writing, providing up to 16x1 maximum write speed on BD-R (SL : 25GB) and up to 1x writing speed on BD-R (DL : 50GB). It is compatible with BDXL format discs (BD-R XL : 100GB TL / 128GB QL, BD-RE XL : 100GB TL) as well as BD discs. High-speed reading and writing are supported for both DVDs and CDs. DVD-R discs can be written at up to 16x
  • 【A better music experience with PureRead 3+ featuring unique algorithms】 When read errors caused by scratches or fingerprints occur when importing (ripping) audio CDs, using this function allows for automatic detection of the disc state, adjustment of the read method using an original algorithm, and then re-reading of the disc. This minimizes error data interpolation. *Not all discs or all portions of discs may be playable if they are too damaged.
  • 【Displaying PureRead mode】 With the device not operating, press and hold the eject button for at least two seconds. The busy indicator flashes, and the current PureRead mode setting is displayed. You can check the mode in advance without launching the Drive Utility on your PC.
  • 【Can be placed vertically on either side, and features ridged construction that offers high performance and a pleasing design】 Comes with four insulators for use in a horizontal configuration and eight for use in a vertical configuration. In addition to the horizontal configuration, the drive can be placed vertically, allowing you to use it in a configuration that suits the layout of your workplace.
  • 【Compatible with high-speed M-DISC writing for long-term data archiving】 This product is compatible with M-DISC optical media for archiving, developed by US-based Millenniata Inc. It now also supports 6x writing on M-DISC (BD) SL and M-DISC (DVD).

5.0 out of 5 stars This is the drive you have been looking for...

    D.H.R.H. · 18 December 2023

After a brilliant long-serving unbranded Blu-Ray drive finally ran out of steam in summer '23, I purchased the widely promoted Bunud drive to replace it. I was looking for a drive that would help me back up the remainder of my Blu-Ray collection, and particularly my 3D collection. After initially impressing, I found there were some 3D discs that this drive couldn't process, no matter how many attempts, reinstalls of software, etc etc. Very few forums offered clarity for the lay person. I was also getting increasingly concerned at some of the mechanical noises made by that drive. I decided that a further hardware upgrade was worth trying. Enter this Pioneer drive...WOW! What an absolute beast! Delivered within 24hrs, the drive is considerably bigger than most of the immediate competition, and not much smaller than the Mac Mini it's now connected to. It's bulkier, but the build quality is evident. Unlike a lot of the cheaper external optical drives, this is NOT reliant on your USB port (or dual ports) for power. It has a separate power cable, and comes with two power cables for UK and EU sockets. The single USB 3.0 cable should plug directly into your computer for best results (rather than via a hub). The drive was instantly recognised by Mac OS Sonoma, and the drive tray is robust and responsive to operating system commands and push-button activation. My first test was on my most troublesome 3D disc. Where the other drive had failed repeatedly around the 20% mark, the Pioneer completed the back-up job in one go. Running almost silently the entire time too. There is almost no heat or air emitted from the drive - and virtually no vibration, even on a hard surface. The final output was spot on, and now I can approach my remaining back-up tasks with much more confidence.Note: This drive has noticeably upgraded specs compared to cheaper alternatives, but you will be constrained by your computer's processing power and software limitations. The drive itself is capable of the specs described, but your kit may not be able to utilise it to that degree. I have not tested the burning capability (as I have no use for this functionality), and I also have no use for the PowerRead or PureRead3 software as I typically use DVDFab and MakeMKV.In summary, I'm delighted with this drive, and it's proven again the lesson of 'buy cheap, buy twice'. This Pioneer looks and feels like a proper bit of kit. Excellent value, and highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent

Very fast burner for M-Disc. 25GB, 50GB works seamlessly to MacBook Pro. Expensive but worth the money for a dedicated dvd burner and player

4.0 out of 5 stars Power lead too short.

    B.S. · 17 January 2024

The writer is good, does exactly what it says on the tin. The software download is straightforward, you have to register first, then the link is active. Register with the key on the reverse of the instruction booklet. My only gripe is the 3 pin cloverleaf power lead, it's way too short - have ordered a longer one from Bolo, so I can place the writer in a more suitable position.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fast and a definate upgrade

    G.S. · 6 November 2023

Previously had a Samsung external bluray drive that was old & touch and go with windows 11 that I used to rip my collection for private use.. Taking somewhat 1hr 30min per disc.. Now between 20-30mins per disc with this drive, it's really fast! Really Should have got this a long time ago... Sadly the software that's included is very limited but comes as an extra, although a lot bigger the tray loading functionality gives me more reassurance.. I've had many other brands in the past and with my old desktop having a pioneer drive, it always performed, always a solid brand that I had no issues with... So if your on the lookout for a new external drive You won't be disapointed with this product, #Update, after one week no issues what so ever in the uk, I do not rely on pioneers software for my media as use other 3rd party but can confirm that the cyberlink software that is free with this product works as it should, as the latest review suggests pioneer may have issues with their software but works flawlessly with others, hardware top notch!

1.0 out of 5 stars Do not buy if you are in the UK or Europe

    P. · 8 November 2023

Not sure where the five star European reviews came from - I learned the hard way that Pioneer have withdrawn all support for any optical drive purchased in the UK or Europe. Firstly, the link for the drive's software produces 404s, and the QR code on the manual doesn't work. After several fruitless hours trying to get through to Pioneer UK/Europe I hit on the ruse of complaining to their 'car product' division via online support form. Here is what they said:'Unfortunately Pioneer UK/Europe no longer support Optical drives, we don’t manufacture them for sale in Europe and the UK, drives are still being made in Japan and other over seas countries, but not for this location. Pioneer Corporation announced this decision in summer 2009.' This came officially from Pioneer Europe NV (UK Branch) Customer Relations Department, and should be a red flag for anyone purchasing any Pioneer optical drive.I've returned the drive and made Bolo aware of the issue.

5.0 out of 5 stars a very good buy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Writes Blu Ray and DVD without blinking

    M. · 18 March 2024

In the past I have had a fairs hare of temperamental dvd writers. This is my first Bluray , which I wanted to archive video. Its worked seamlessly on both Bluray and dvd, even dvd discs that my old dvd writer could not handle. Not the cheapest, but a few months in and it seems to be a reliable workhorse.

    Excellent Performance

    P.M.H. · 24 December 2024

Installation was easy. Downloading requires you to sign into the CyberLink app. to access the application to install the program. This application also gives you access to audio, photo and movie apps to be used for editing and recording CDs, DVDs and BluRay discs. It cannot decrypt files on DVD or BluRay discs.I have only burned discs. It is also works with other applications like Nero.Very Quiet operation.

    Reliable and then some

    R.C. · 5 January 2025

Following the failure of a couple of cheaper units from other manufacturers, I’ve had this one for half a year. I haven’t used it for Blu-ray functionality (except, now and then, for playback), but for DVD copying and playback it is first-rate. The build quality and performance inspires confidence. I’d buy this one before I’d consider one of these flimsy compact jobbies offered for sale on Bolo.

Das Produkt wird von Pioneer nur verkauft aber unzureichend unterstützt.

    t. · 31 May 2024

The model description is: BDR-X13EBK (manufactured August 2023, Ser. No: CHDL000563WL).Although I have tried for hours, it has proved impossible yet, to get it running in connection with my Apple, MacBook Pro (manufactured 2021, OS Sonoma 14.4.1). I also tried tried this in connection to my iMac (model 2015) but was just as unsuccessful. (The MacBook Pro is supposed to be my gadget of choice, though).I want to draw your attention to some observations which account for my disappointment and dissatisfaction:- The manual virtually hides information on the installation routine, with its significant differences between running the device with a Mac and a Windows computer. So, for example you invite the customer on p. 7 of your manual to download and install the Cyber Link Media Suite, only to inform him on p. 20 that this program does not run at all on Macs.- You stress the advisability of a direct cable connection between Bluray-drive and computer. Still you provide only a cable with a traditional Type B USB plug, to connect to the rare Type A socket on your device. Since you should know very well, that the traditional Type B USB sockets have long been replaced for Type C USB/Thunderbolt sockets your packaging decision looks negligent to me. It should look much more circumspect to most continental customers if you provided such a cable instead of an English power plug.- When it comes to installing drivers (or perhaps new firmware (?)), I found no clear advice which ones to choose and in which sequence they should be installed. Thus it would be helpful and reasssuring to be told in advance, whether the old driver (Version: Pioneer Drive Utility_v117.dmg) must be installed before downloading and activating the Pioneer DriveUpdaterBDR, Version: V104EU.dmg) – and apart from all this: Which role would the Drive Utility Lite for Mac (Version: V1_01_002.dmg) play in the installation game?- What I could install so far would only show the written part of the disc-icon on my desktop, but not the image that should be displayed on top of the textline. The window of the PioneerDriveUtility (Version 1.17) remains empty, which seems to indicate, that the device is not recognized by the program. (see attached screenshot). The program ist not communicative. There is only mystery in the heap of ambiguities shown to the user: “Disc may be mounted. Please restart this tool after eject the disc!”Please help me! It would be sad to be left with the impression that an inherently good product is killed because of poor and careless customer support.- What I also miss is a checklist for the system-settings, as they should be on my Mac in order to ensure unproblematic operation.Angesichts dieser Anfangsprobleme blieb die Frage nach regionalcodierungs-unabhänger Nutzbarkeit des Geräts noch ungestellt. In der Produktbeschreibung habe ich jedoch keine Informationen dazu finden können.
