5.0 out of 5 stars An amazing introduction into the world of custom form factor keyboards (Sea Salt Switches)
I had my eyes on this keyboard for the longest time after coming across it from a randomly suggested youtube shortJust from the classic PC Cream aesthetic alone I was sold on this Keyboard. All I can say is, this thing has been an absolute joy to own and use as a daily driver for gaming and productivity, while maintaining most usability you get from a full size board.I will preface this with that I came from a Corsair K95 Platinum, which I used for the better part of 6 Years (to which it is still going strong)Here are a few of the enjoyments I had while using this keyboard:-The unboxing experience was very pleasant and the item is very adequately packed, I had no worries about the screen or any parts being damaged-The typing experience, wow! when I first brushed my fingers on the keycaps and did some sample typing, I was BLOWN away at how unbelievably smooth and soft to type, as well as the noise level being almost non existent, you might hear the online term 'thocky' get thrown around in custom keyboard circles, and this was really no exception, an out of the box board, they feel incredible, which is the price of admission alone.-Build Quality is sturdy, a very strong plastic frame with no wobble or flex, all of the buttons and keys fit well with minimal wobble, the included cable is also of great quality, and is not soldered into the board, making it very easy to remove for wiping your desk or the board down itself, additionally, it features a wireless mode-The RT100 Still retains the numpad, it was very hard to find a smaller factor board which didn't also maintain most of the keys, this 96% board is still one of few options on the market-The included screen is indeed a unique and cute addition, allowing you to display basic system information as well as a gif/picture of your choice and the date and time, very handy when you want to check without tabbing out of your game or fullscreen application. With that said, there were some use cases I encountered with this board which weren't idealCons:-RGB: It's not that great, even on the brightest setting, it is really is quite difficult to make out in the dark, I found using Green worked best, additionally the way to assign the RGB and effects inside the software is a bit cumbersome.-This keyboard will work for gaming, but it is not ideal:The spring tension of switches is quite high and I dont expect them to loosen over time, you will find your hand begin to strain after a short amount of time due to the force required to fully depress the switches; The board does actually have a feature inside the software to adjust the actuation distance, to which I set it to the lowest of 1mm, but the smoothness of how the keys move up and down make it difficult to tell if you have bottomed out the key or if you want to quickly reactuate it after letting go.This will hinder your movement and responsiveness in faster games, I won't use this to discredit the board however as I dont think it was ever marketed for gaming.Further to the previous, with the board laying flat, it remains at quite a steep incline, your hand angle will be quite sharp when trying to use the wasd keys and will accelerate the strain on your hands, furthermore, due to the 96% layout, you will struggle to find a wrist rest that matches the width of this board exactly.-ANSI Layout:I've no Idea why Bolo UK is selling the ANSI (American Layout of the board) you will also lose access to some symbols, the smaller enter key, and I find I have to switch between USA/UK Layout inside my OS to access the symbol I want on the same key.Neutral:-Software:The 'Epomaker Driver Software' is overall quite good, offering customizability in almost every aspect of the board, but the UI mostly leaves a little to be desired, I encountered an issue when uploading a gif, the screen was flashing white towards the last frames, this is very distracting and will catch your eye when trying to focus on your screen.-Adjustment time:You will indeed need some time to become more familiar with this board, the compressed layout means you will fat finger keys a lot more until you adjust if coming from a 100% boardOverall, this keyboard is an awesome introduction to the world of higher end mechanical keyboards, the typing experience is the best I've ever felt, and I expect this to be a gateway into even more custom high end boards.
5.0 out of 5 stars super cute, super quiet, worth it!
The media could not be loaded. the video doesn't do it justice, but the sea salt silent switches are SO silent and satisfying. I did a lot of research into this keyboard as I was finally switching from my noisy pink razer green switches.it was a big change and one I had to adjust to, moving from tactile razer green switches to these linear ones, but wow do I recommend it. Feels great! They're super silent (again the video doesn't do it justice. They sound quieter in real life). The software is a little laggy at times but I've had no other issues - little screen is super cute too and worked perfectly!I haven't tried Bluetooth so I can't comment on that, but wired mode works perfectly. The knob is a cute feature but I'll admit I forget it's there! Wanted this keyboard as a numpad is essential for me.If you're debating switches, go for the sea salt silent ones - absolutely love them. This colour is also really cute and it's super easy to remove the keycaps if you want to swap any over!
4.0 out of 5 stars Good price to quality ratio, but lacking experience at times.
The product is good, but has a few pros and cons that need mentioning.Pros: nice build quality for the money, the screen is a nice gimmick and the silent switches are quite pleasant to write on (read many online reviews about them being bad, I am quite happy with them), plenty of features. Really nice quality USB cable.Cons: the software is quite buggy, took many attempts to connect the mini-screen, often freezes and works sub-optimally for what I would expect at this price point. The battery life is quite poor, battery needs charging after maybe 24h of use. The customization options are good, but not perfect and there are a few things (like complete remapping of the keys) I would prefer to be able to do.Quite good overall, not fantastic though.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great mechanical keyboard!
Love everything about this keyboard. Silent sea salt switches ar amazing. Caps feel like silk ad grate quality. The screen is so unique. Software isn't the best but it works. Changing all the RGB and gif in the app is easy. It all feels solid and looks great.
3.0 out of 5 stars Looks Great, Feels Great
Easily the most comfortable keyboard I have ever used. The key throw is just about perfect, provided that you do not type too fast as you'll clip an adjacent key if you're not careful. Love, love, love(!) the clicky noises when in use, most satisfying. The bad, had it a fortnight now and it looks like the battery is fried. The battery life was a lot less than expected right out of the box, but today; unplug the charging lead and the battery indicator is showing 3/4 after 10 minutes.Would try and send it back but Bolo screwed me so many ways on the delivery of this thing that I ended up cancelling my Prime subscription. Its too expensive for what it is, you can get a clicky, compact Bluetooth keyboard for half the price. Try one of those instead.
ES HERMOSO
Es realmente bonito, estético y sus teclas son super suaves y silenciosas, el software es más rápido a diferencia de las reseñas qué vi de hace tiempo, totalmente vale la pena
This is the best Keyboard I've ever owned!
I'm writing on this keyboard now! It's so buttery smooth and quiet! My dad approves of it! (He sits like 50 feet from me)I used to run on a Cherry MX Brown keyboard for the longest time. I loved it, but I also got sort of fed up with it in the long run.My dad was getting very annoyed by the keyboard and thus I was hunting around for finding a new keyboard I would enjoy owning for a long time. Hence how I found this keyboard. At first I discovered this keyboard and brand from LLT and then HypoTech's review on it. This is how I was sold on the product in the first place.Once I got mine, I fell in love with this thing instantly, so did my dad! LOL.So how does it feel to use? It's premium without the premium price tag. That's basically the honest answer. It's that good! Yes, it's fully plastic but what keyboard out there isn't? But it's also got some heft to it, just like the old 90's keyboards of the day were. I can tell they made sure this thing dampens any and all sound coming out of it so it doesn't sound like a hollowed out shell of whatever it's supposed to be.Once you get it, you will see what I mean. These switches are just incredible for what they are. They're a linear switch and it makes typing just a dream to type on. Just typing all of this text is so satisfying that I want to keep on typing on it. So I will......ANYWAYS..... These are a type of Linear switch that knocks a lot of noise out of the switch so it's smooth and quiet in operation. It's so smooth in fact, you barely have to touch your fingers on it to actuate the response and feel so quick to type on and feel like a typing god. It's so incredible to use that it just blows my mind how amazing this thing feels. Especially now after typing this far into this review on it. I will admit, I'm not perfect. I had to backspace a million times because I do fat finger from time to time. So it's not going to prevent that. (I did the same thing even on the MX browns...)How does it feel to press on the switches? It's like touching the best button in existence, nice and clean to press and it's very soft. Like a pillow with a soft touch. When you press down hard, it just feels solid and smooth. It's got instant response to your inputs. No matter how light or heavy you press the buttons, they respond instantly. The springs in the switch are "Light" but over time that lightness starts to feel heavier as you go. So you'll start to feel where the switches activate even with the lightest of touches, it just makes typing quick and clean.... except if you're a typo master or a fat finger writer like I am where you hit the backspace a lot to clean up your horrid typing...Speaking of which, if you're a gamer. BUY THIS! It may not be a high end switch keyboard but trust me, that doesn't matter. This keyboard is perfect for the average person to Twitch Stream user who is recording content on their channels (Even a YouTuber). This thing just makes gaming so comfy. I do not want you to skip this product just because it MAY not have the best and fastest switch actuation out there. Trust me, it doesn't make any difference, your mouse makes more of the difference over a keyboard. Believe me, there is nothing out there that makes your gaming THAT much better. (Except if you're using a junky low grade low cost keyboard.... yeah, nothing is topping that trashy product. It's cheap for a reason, buy something with better quality. Anything that runs smoother is already a better product vs a garbage made one)Now, how this thing works in the function part is rather interesting to say the least. It's not bad to use, but some functions I don't know for sure how it works yet. Even Epomaker's Manual is vague in some areas. So do your homework on this board. Recommend you watch HypoTech's video on this keyboard before you think of buying it, it's a quirky thing. That's for sure, but the experience makes up for it.This product DOES have a nice little TV display. It's cute, but a novelty item. So don't buy it ONLY for the screen. Trust me, you'll be disappointed in it. Epomaker has made this thing just that, a novelty to play around with and nothing else. I mean it DOES work, but it's a hassle to make it useable at the moment. Hopefully they figure out what they're trying to achieve with it, it's like they made it an afterthought and thought it looked cool to put on it. I do wish they figured it out with the design when they did it and not afterwards....(It's firmware and driver related. Get it on their website for this keyboard if you're interested to playing around with it. Word of advice, it's not that impressive to use. Software is somewhat annoying to figure out, but it's about the only way you'll get any functional use out of it. So get it and then program it however you like on it)Final thoughts, do I recommend this? 100%, BUT it may not be your cup of tea. This doesn't come native with Micro buttons, but you can map them on this just like any other keyboard. It's not useless, the function command does make this keyboard rather cool to mess around with once you program it to do certain commands on it.The play button and volume control is a nice feature, but it's not 100% necessary on this board to be put on there. But hey, it's for those who actually want or need it for some reason... it works. That's about all I say about it. It's not a standout feature or anything, it does what it needs to do.Anyways, enough of this small but long essay about it. Go buy it already, you'll love it. Trust me!
Great keyboard, minor learning curve
I recently got my hands on the EPOMAKER RT100, and I must say, it has been an absolute delight! This keyboard deserves nothing less than a five-star rating for its outstanding performance and features. One pro tip for new users: If you're facing any issues with the date display on the Mini TV, make sure your PC's date format matches that of the Mini TV (yyyy/mm/dd). It's a simple fix that enhances the experience significantly. The color options on this keyboard are fantastic. They add a vibrant and personalized touch to my setup, making it not just a functional device but also a stylish one. Additionally, the Mini TV's resolution is impressive. It's crisp and clear, making the display features a joy to use.The included instructions are clear and concise, especially regarding the connection options. Setting up either Bluetooth or a wired connection is straightforward, thanks to the well-written guidance. It's great to have both options, offering flexibility for different user preferences and setups.A minor note for future improvements: The BT (Bluetooth) light indicator is a bit small, which might be an issue if you have color schemes running on your keyboard. It's a small detail, but keeping an eye on this can enhance usability. The silent keys were a welcomed and purposeful switch from the Blackwidow clackity keysIn conclusion, the EPOMAKER RT100 has been a fantastic addition to my tech collection. Its blend of style, functionality, and ease of use makes it a standout product. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable and aesthetically pleasing keyboard. It's a purchase you won't regret!
Comfortable, Anti-snowflake stabilizers are a bonus.
This is a no-frills-keyboard, conservatively-designed Nopre EC board built for someone who doesn't want rainbow puke or weird "enthusiast" stuff on their desk that shouts "LOOK I WANT TO BE DIFFERENT."It's comfortable and satisfying to type on despite being mushy on the bottom out (because of the rubber domes). The quality of the keycaps is impressive for what's usually included with a keyboard; no need to swap the caps for anything higher-quality as they're double-shot PBT, and their modifiers are entirely straight. I absolutely adore this keyboard's unique sound, and it's very satisfying to type on when you bottom out. This is going to be my daily driver for work, gaming, and casual computer use for the foreseeable future.Trigger warning for anyone who gets their egos hurt easily by being wrong (not that I care). The stabs are not like your typical cherry mount and I always get a kick out of people who've never used Costar stabilizers and always struggle putting them back on. People get absolutely torqued by this design and act like it's their first time touching a keyboard when they see them. Costars are superior because they don't rattle, come loose or sound like crap without extensive modification. The only caveat to them is you actually have to learn how to put them on if you want to lube them- which you will, because they rattle despite being factory lubed. Companies never get enough lube, or lube stabs right and this is no exception. People like to complain about the costar stabilizers because you have to put some strength into sliding them onto the wire, but they're the best out there: It's not rocket science like many seem to believe it is. I'm not going to tell you how to take them off, just look up how to put them on and quit complaining. At least you don't have to use QMK. Like everything in a hobby, there's one thing that doesn't come handed to you on a silver platter, figure it out and deal with it. It's not hard.
So Quiet!
The keyboard is very incredibly quiet and comfortable. The switches need a bit of strong tapping a few times first time around but then they are all responsive. Incredible, much more worth it than other expensive keyboards.
