This is a nice, good value complete kit - great if you are just starting out with photography or filming for social media. I found the kit very easy to set up. The stand height can be easily adjusted, and it makes a big difference to the quality of photos.The inclusion of a bulb is an added bonus here - some kits come without a bulb - it means you can get started right out of the box.Overall, a good product, and a nice piece of kit for a beginner at a very reasonable price.

Really disappointing. I had high hopes for this. The stand is very sturdy, but the bulb doesn't work, which means I have to buy another one. Didn't expect to have to do that.

Price when reviewed: £ 59.99.This Neewer softbox lighting kit comes with everything you’ll need to get started. A multi-section light stand, 35W LED lamp, lamp holder / reflector with long mains cable and inline on/off switch, light diffuser material, and multi-language instruction leaflet.Assembly is straightforward and I didn’t need to refer to the instructions to do so. I found putting the four corners of the diffuser on the softbox first made things easier. The four edges of the diffuser are then held in place with Velcro.In use the lighting kit produces a nice even bright light which I found ideal for product and studio photography. The light stand can be adjusted for height and the always stayed in position without slipping. The lamp holder can be adjusted but the softbox does prevent it being angled straight down. I found that removing the diffuser and bouncing the light off a white ceiling also worked well.This is my first softbox lighting kit so have no experience of them to reference against. However, that said, I am really pleased with this kit and I’m happy to recommend it.The only negative I have is the plug is supplied with a 13amp fuse which I would recommend being replaced with a 3amp fuse before use.

Quality seems solid and the stand is stable and positions stay in place well enough.you have a decent length power cord that has a simple on off inline switch and the cover of the soft box is easy to put on and to remove if you need to change or replace the bulb.Unfortunately the bulb that was supplied was DOA so i had to use another E27 photography bulb i had and therefore i cannot speak to the lighting quality of this kit due to that.If i had purchased this kit i would have to ask for a replacement bulb.

This NEEWER 40 x 40cm E27 soft box kit comprises of the softbox with its associated mains cable (2.6m long) and switch, a bag to keep it in, the light source and a lighting stand with a standard 5/8 inch lighting stud. In short, everything that you will need.The reflector with the lead and diffuser comes in a small bag but at just under 50cm long, that isn't quite large enough to hold the light comfortably as well with any room to spare - you have to shuffle it around a lot and then it is a tight squeeze and there is little protection for the bulb. The bulb is a 35 watt LED light with an E27 fitting, measuring 10cm in diameter and 17.5cm long - LED P HPB (Performer, High Power Bulb) - which goes better in a cardboard box, as does the lighting stand. The best packaging for it is the cardboard box it comes in as that keeps it all in one place.The stand is reasonably strong although the legs are of the design that will start to fold up if you put too much weight on them - they are certainly strong enough for this light.The diffuser is made of a strong fabric with the reflective diffusing surface on the inside. It comes as a collapsed, four-ribbed brolly with a loose central hoop that you push down so that it fits onto the ceramic bulb holder - this holds the reflector stiff enough. The bulb then screws into the E27 socket.At the back are a 5/8 lighting stud socket at the bottom and above that, you can adjust the angle of the lamp so that it is pointing up or down or anywhere in between. The back section, including this joint, is made from plastic and even though this is obviously quite a tough material and is thick enough, the joint has a fine rosette and being plastic, it will wear over time to become a lot smoother and therefore more difficult to get a good grip. Fortunately, the light is quite lightweight at around 550g so this this is more like something to be aware of rather than that much of a problem.The supplied lamp has a large diffuser on it, measuring 10cm across and around 6cm long. As such, the light is already fairly soft but one of the problems is that there is not nearly enough light coming out of the sides of it - it mainly comes out of the end so, when you put the diffuser onto the reflector - it pulls over the corners like a fitted sheet on a bed and is held in place by four pieces of Velcro - there is a bright spot in the middle of the diffuser that is substantially brighter than the rest of the reflector. In fact, the lamp is so long that it touches the diffuser that is stretched over the front of the reflectorIn the photographs, you can see photographs of light cast onto a green screen with and without the diffuser and you can also see shots of the light source itself with and without the diffuser. There is not a lot of difference between them - the only time you would see a difference is if you had a surface on your subject that was mirror-like so you could see the light sources.In measurements taken at one metre, at the centre, without the diffuser, the light level was 820lux and with the diffuser, it was 660lux so, as you can see, the light is already fairly well diffused.The other point about the light is that it is not dimmable and you cannot change its colour temperature.However, it does have a standard fitting and there are other LED bulbs that are suitable for this application.On the whole, this softbox is quite good and does the job with a stand that is certainly tall enough. Being able to change the bulb is a definite advantage.
