4.0 out of 5 stars Great Drive - Needs Configuration
Drive attached to laptop and recognised driver installed and it's showing in explorer, drive identifies as Matshita UJ272, and don't forget it's not a UHD 4K drive but is full HD.Now the initial problems hit (this may not be required on your particular machine, did on my laptop and not on my workstation), started up VLC and put in a Blu-Ray video, try to play it and VLC errors - don't panic - copy the error message and paste it into a search engine and you'll find the fix, do that one and you'll get another error, same again and the fix is there. That can get frustrating but it's worth it, playing BD from it's menu needs an older version of Java and the new ones don't work, here it looses a star, but archived are available from other sites, simple BD playback is still available and high quality video and audio. It does recognise 25GB BD's haven't tried a full disk write yet, it also reports R/W to all disk types except DVD-RW (rewritable disks).I fell into the trap, power requirements. Easy test is see if you can eject the disk from windows explorer (right click - eject) if it errors there's not enough power, it will still do simple BD playback on a low powered port, the way my laptop is set up the port accessible just didn't have enough, plugged into the powered hub and away we go.It's got another plus, 4 x USB 3 ports and SD & CF memory card slots, making it a really good portable all-in-one. Even with the issues I came across would still recommend, just make sure your machine can supply enough power.
5.0 out of 5 stars Best purchase for a while
We had a lot of old CDs filled with precious family memories, and I was searching for a CD player when I came across this. It’s exactly what I needed! The best part is that it’s so compact, unlike traditional CD players, and I can even use it for other purposes. I absolutely love it!
1.0 out of 5 stars Device not working
I just received this device. It is not working.... I tried various Blurays on 3 different computers. I will have to take this to Bolo.
3.0 out of 5 stars Does the job but....
Does the job but be careful loading and unloading discs as loading bay is flimsy and delicate and could break with little pressure. Also you must purchase expensive software separately to play Blu-ray discs.
5.0 out of 5 stars Dvd player
Nicely connects to the tv or laptop for easy connection. It has the wires include with it. The wire are not as long as i would like. But Shows up on the laptop and works perfectly.
5.0 out of 5 stars The Blu-ray burner
The unit was easy to install and in use, is well made good performance
4.0 out of 5 stars An excellent external drive but could use a longer, less annoying cable
I don't have much to dislike about this external blu-ray drive. It plays blu-ray discs fine (my example was a copy of Final Fantasy VII Advent Children - a gamer's dream!) alongside DVD movies and music CDs and while I wasn't able to test CD burning it burns blu-ray and DVD discs fine, so I doubt there'll be any issue. The inclusion of several ports for USB and SD cards was a nice touch. I gave the USB slots a quick test and they do pass-through things like a keyboard and mouse fine, but I wouldn't recommend much more than that. Both the SD and micro SD card ports worked without issue also. The drive itself feels of good quality and has little rubber feet so it can stand firmly wherever you put it. However the permanently-attached cable could be a little longer and not under the drive (the way it comes out can affect placement) and the additional cable not the hated micro-USB kind.Other than that, i'm pleased with this drive! It does it's job admirably. Would recommend.
