5.0 out of 5 stars Great tool- wish I'd bought one ages ago
This improved my electrical installations tremendously. So far I've done 30+ mostly bigger but a few small and it is easy, works well and looks brand new still.

5.0 out of 5 stars A beast of a crimping tool
The media could not be loaded. Forgive my video - I had to do this one-handed with no camera standNote that this is a crimping tool only - no crimpsThese are a little longer and open a little wider than my original crimping tool. This initially put me off, but the extra handle length gives much better leverage and makes for easier crimping especially when you go to 6mm+ crimps. In the early days I never trusted to crimps for wire connections, but they have proven to be quick easy and as good as a soldered joint.Crimping is easy and if need be, you can lightly grip a crimp where the jaws lock, then feed your wire in and then squeeze. There is a ratchet effect, so if you have a weaker grip or need to adjust your grip, then you can let go (as long as your wire isn’t being pulled) and then continue when you have re-positioned. The crimp is neatly and evenly crushed into a vice grip on the wire.I tried this on some stainless-steel wire as a test before I trust it to electrical work. I figured copper is soft, easier to crush and more likely to form into the indentations of the crimp to have a better grip. So stainless steel wire being harder may be more likely to slip if this doesn’t have enough crush force. I crimped away and the crimp deformed evenly. The wire was held fast and I am confident that there is good uniform contact throughout the interior and that I am happy to use it for electrical wiring where conditions allow use of crimps.
3.0 out of 5 stars Chunky rubberised grips, reasonable crimper.
This is a crimper that has an even, 6 'bladed' bite and is flexible in the sizes it will take. It will, of course, only crimp ends that will fit through the hole, unless the 'other end' of the cable is free. There is an adjustable strength to the crimp, but it doesn't seem to do too much. For £26 it feels expensive, and I am having trouble with the sizes it states it is able to crimp, SO16-4 is a .376 diameter cable? If the end added to the diameter, that would be a very tight fit. But maybe that is not what is noted where the SO 16-4 is printed on the pliers?Personally, I think it might be difficult fitting the larger cables plus and an end into the crimp, but no problems with smaller stuff. I am dithering between 3 and four stars, 3½ would be good, but considering the price and the general feel, I think three is sufficient.JC
