    Due to the fact that these are handcrafted its important to state that the crafter had done a really good job keeping each piece uniformed by size and look beautiful. They are of the traditional "Staunton Chessmen" design, commonly detail is only ever usually found on the Knight piece and for me I was a little disappointed with the knights being so basic and could be much improved. I also feel that further refinement to the kings crown by making it less bulky would have better uniformed the set of chessmen.Ultimately its the knight that lost a star for me, when standing among all the other pieces its an absolute shame that the crafter decided on a square head when obviously he or she can do curves. There is some detail on the knight which needs a little more refinement to make this set pop.However for the price and considering that its made from hardwood and not some sort of plastic or casting agent then its actually really good value.

    The media could not be loaded. This chess set comes in a sturdy wooden box, with a separate drawstring storage bag for both black and white pieces. This is a very traditional-looking set, perfect for both beginners and experienced players. The pieces are all well made- the fact that they’re handcrafted from lotus wood means that each piece is individual, and although some of the pieces aren’t as detailed/ refined as a moulded set would be, I think that this adds to their charm and appeal. They’re a fairly standard size- so should fit any chess board, and at £15.98, I’d say they are a fair price, and would make a lovely gift.

    This is a lovely, crafted set of chess pieces that can be seen as a replacement set or used a backup. The pieces are made of smooth wood that has what seems like a lacquered finish, and are easy to handle.The set comes with their own drawstring bags for holding each colour separately. I have kept them in a larger bag so that they are kept together, and none are accidentally lost.The design is classic, and something that I do prefer to use when playing as that was how I was originally taught chess years ago and don’t have to think what shape represents what piece when using alternative sets. A good replacement/backup chess piece set.

    Comes in a cardboard box with each colour in their own pouch to keep safe.Much nicer than a plastic set. As natural wood there is a colour/wood grain variation, and every piece is unique.Just feels nicer to hold in the hand. Every piece is well made,smooth and varnished.Felt pads on the base protect your chessboard.Can't fault for the price.
