Works straight from the box, but as with all of these the lead is a little short, but it does tick back into the case making portability simple. longer leads id required, (for using with a desk top etc.) are inexpensive and readly available.

Needed a CD/DVD drive as the new computer didn't have an integrated unit. Tried another make and experienced a few problems with reading disks so purchased this one..This compact unit fitted the bill at a reasonable price. Plug and Play worked perfectly and the drive was immediately recognised by Windows.Software disks and DVD films play with no problems. Nice to have the choice of USB3 and Type C which gives some flexibility in connection.

This has to be the most rubbish piece of electronic gear I’ve ever bought in my 30 years of buying stuff.Read the disc but won’t eject so now it’s stuck.Looks rubbish and feels rubbish.Don’t bother buying

Used for ripping music cds on Mac. Works perfectly and rips a cd in about 10 mins. One star less because of short cable. Would have been 5 star otherwise.
3.0 out of 5 stars Worked Ok Until DVD Burning Was Needed
From first use this cd / dvd reader / writer worked perfectly reading cds and dvds and even writing a music cd (still working 3 months on) the 3 stars it due to it not being that portable. I found using the standard usb port it would not allow me to burn a dvd on any pc or laptop however once i plugged it in via usb-c the dvd burner was then functional. As such im limited to what devices have a usb-c port, i tried a usb-c to usb adapter but this didnt work so im presuming its to do with power to the device. All my normal usbs are atleast usb 3 so its not that. Read speed is 16x, write speed for dvd is 8x.

Piece of junk
I burned four cds(the first one was defective) and then it broke down outside of the return window. Won't even detect a cd is there and half the time it doesnt open. So pissed
Pretty good external CD-R/DVD-R
I bought this for my Kamrui mini PC which didn't have a built in optical drive. It was recognized and worked beautifully for Windows 11 on that hardware. Very light weight. I would recommend a carrying case for it does not seem as durable as say, an apple super drive. Still really good purchase though.
