5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent gimbal
I got this gimbal for use with both Samsung Galaxy and iPhone smartphones. So far I have tested it on a Galaxy S20 Ultra, iPhone 11 Pro Max and 15 Pro Max. All devices fitted and worked well.I've never used a gimbal this sophisticated before so it took me a few minutes to get familiarised. I am a very technical person, both professionally and as a hobbyist, so I was able to grasp it all fairly quickly. The gimbal itself is fairly weighty and feels well made, but not that heavy that it is uncomfortable to use. It is actually very friendly on the hand in use.The most important characteristic of any gimbal is the image stabilisation capability and this gimbal is very good on that front indeed. I tested it out pitchside at a football game and the results were very impressive indeed, even when wandering up and down the touchline whilst still recording. The extending rod is very useful for grabbing a little extra height or reach on a shot. Also included in the package is a mini-tripod attachment, a storage bag, a USB-C charging cable, a decent user manual and a magnetically attachable fill light which is useful for close up video work.I am really impressed with this gimbal and overall package, particularly if you require to shoot video whilst on the move. The results make it good value for money.
4.0 out of 5 stars Good gimbal, which needs some patience to get going.
This isn't the most user-friendly of gimbals, if you're not willing to invest time with the manual or third party videos. I've been spoiled perhaps, with a DJI product, which ensures ease of use built into the product itself. You can download their app, which provides a video that covers installing the mobile phone into either landscape or portrait angles, though nothing more. The manual included in the app, offers nothing more than a list of button presses and which features they utilise. This is helpful since you'd never work out some operations without it. But there's no assistance beyond button=option. So, for first-time users, prepare to learn by doing. Patience will be required.Once the app is paired, you can get the most out of the device. The face tracking is good, though you can't move from centre stage too quickly, or it will lose you. You can track a face, a body or an object, which is novel. Should you lose tracking, getting back into the tracking box picks you back up quickly. The gimbal is completely silent. The LED light can be modified from natural light to white light, depending on the requirement. This isn't a strong light, but does fill out shadows for closer video work. Most of our work benefits from a stable device which can track, in portrait and this fulfils that need very well. Adjustable height if helpful and the tripod is very sturdy, both adding further benefits. I have found that battery life isn't enough for all day video needs, so have a power bank on hand to top up.
5.0 out of 5 stars Good quality, and easy to use
This was initially a bit of a learning curve, in being able to set up correctly, its not out of the box ready. Once done it works perfectly, and well every time. After a while its easy to use, and becomes second nature.I have mainly used it to film my dog in the garden, my videos up to now have always been a bit messy, but this has worked excellently. It is not the lightest to hold once the weight of the phone is added, but it is worth it for the final results. Very happy with it after using it for a month.
5.0 out of 5 stars high quality
This gimbal has changed my video recording experience. The 3-axis stabilisation is very smooth, ensuring that my footage is free from shakes and bumps. The 8" extension rod allows me to capture shots from a variety of angles. I also like the RGB magnetic fill light, which adds ideal lighting for my videos, even in low light. It works perfectly with both my iPhone and Android phone, and the overall quality is excellent. The stabiliser feels sturdy but lightweight, making it easy to carry around.
5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent
I'm very impressed on how simply & effect this gimbal works. Order arrived on time and well packed.I have an iPhone X and it fitted fine, took me a few moments to figure things out, being a typical man and not looking to read the instructions. It's pretty intuitive once you figure out how it's going to work.Upon first operation, after zeroing the gimbal (as per instructions) it works great, certainly kept my phone stable. This being my first, I didn't really have a point of reference for my expectations. In general I found it work as well as expected if you keep within its tolerances which I'll add is more than ample. The stabiliser for me has some great design touches, it's very well made, premium quality. For me it's been designed by people who understand what's needed. Sure it's not going to be for every one's needs but considering it's price point and functionality build quality it's impressive.I'm not going to talk about all the tech spec, and features because anyone looking at this gimbal can read the advertising. For me it's about talking about my experience with the product. Personally I found it a breeze to setup, use, and control. The filming results are great, certainly adds a touch of professionalism and takes my filming results up a notch.Would certainly recommend. 5/5
Amazing product. Instant pro shots.
I am completely impressed with the gimble. I remember these being extremely expensive. This one happens to be more reasonably priced, but way better than expected. When I took it out, I immediately felt like I was holding an expensive piece of filming equipment. And not to bury the lead here, but it is in fact an expensive piece of filming equipment that is affordable. The case is very nice and soft, yet ridged to keep it all protected. Simple yet elegant. As is the product itself but we’ll get there in a sec. They also included a little magnetic affect light, to also compliment the ambiance as well as the built in light on the stick; which is quite bright (3 levels). There is also a tripod that easily connects and extends as a handle. Really nice.Okay the goods.. This is a beautiful piece of equipment. Also simple, elegant and really feels well balanced and smooth and not at all a toy. There is an app that integrates via Bluetooth and also unlocks all the features and put a lot of the pro mode features right at your fingertips. It’s buttery smooth and takes YOU out of the video. Portrait or Landscape easily.I didn’t expect the zoom and manual focus features to be so amazing. Of course, there is a record/image button, a trigger, a navigation thumb stick.. it got complicated quickly. But the manual was pretty clear on what the modes meant and what all the gesturing on the buttons can do (like single, double and triple clicking things as well as long holds. So there are a lot of buttons that all multi task. I really didn’t expect all those features, but once you try a few they make sense. It really makes you feel like a pro right out of the box (once you’re connected with the app) and thankfully you don’t need to register to use the app – big win with the app I think. It’s easy to use and connect with good instructional video included. There is even object and face tracking to make it super easy to vlog or track your subject without losing them in the frame. The quality and features of this kit is an easy 5 stars.
Amazed at this tech
Having been a photographer for many years I decided to check out this phone gimbal, and I have to say I was very impressed, and also a little overwhelmed. It is cram packed full of features and takes a minute or two to set up correctly. This is not a device that you can simply plug your phone in and go. Every time you use it you have to follow a specific boot sequence. Once you have it down though it's pretty straightforward. The gimbal is made of high quality materials, and has a very premium feel about it. The gimbal works best with the companion camera app that you can download from your phones app store. Without the app you won't be able to fully utilize al the features the gimbal has to offer. My experience was with the Android version of the app, which works quite well. The app seems solid, but does take a while to figure out. I highly recommend watching the sellers videos on the listing for some good info on how to use this tech.Once you're all set the gimbal is able to stabilize and smooth out your video footage with ease. It has several different modes that I'm still learning how to use. The instructional videos in the app are pretty helpful. One area where it shines is when doing panorama shots, it has many different options to choose from and has the ability to stitch several shots together to make one large image. The gimbal also has a telescoping arm to do long selfies. My only gripe is that it's a bit heavy to use for single handed selfies. The attachable extension handle also doubles as a tripod which is pretty cool. The gimbal also has a built in VERY bright fill light which has three brightness settings, the brightest setting is good if your subject is a little distance from your camera. The unit also ships with a separate magnetic RGB fill light that can be mounted to the phone holder.I could go on for ages about all the different modes this has, but know this, this gimbal is feature packed and really good value for money. I highly recommend.
Solid but a bit over my head
This seems like a really good quality stabilizer, but it is also more than I bargained for. Maybe I’ll figure it out with a bit more effort, but this isn’t a device for an absolute neophyte like me. The physical part of the product seems solid… but I’m still trying to figure out the rest of it, including how to use the app. If you’re familiar with this type of product, you may appreciate all that it has to offer, if you’re a newbie, you may want to pass on this one and get something a bit simpler.
Lots of features and comfortable to operate.
The media could not be loaded. This gimbal immediately felt like a well made product, like it could be intended for full sized cameras. I have a lightweight gimbal built in 2020 and it is a bad toy compared to this, except that it will carry up to about 800 grams. Staying within the weight limits specified for this AOCHUAN S2, it operates predictably and steadily. It has many interesting features and modes of operation but I found myself relying heavily on searching online for demonstrations and tutorials to understand them. The included literature is very poor. It seems like it hasn't kept up with the revision of product that I received. For example the connection of the gimbal's built in microphone to the smartphone is anywhere from absent to incorrect. The printed instruction of how to set up A-B point to point motion is missing the first operation to set it up. I found a demo online that cleared up that omission. I noticed on many online discussions that the most frequent question seems to be "how do I change from portrait to landscape?" (You have to point the gimbal in a horizontal axis out in front of you, not held up vertically like a candle; THEN you press the button to switch orientation.)Mounting the phone and having it balanced was extremely easy – maybe because of the light weight of my phone which weighs less than 200 grams. Up to now I have been mounting nothing smaller than a bridge camera on my old gimbal. The detents on the arms were enough to get the phone quickly aligned. The digits on the slider scale are clearly legible. The spring clamping force of the phone cradle is strong, requiring your attention not to have the phone get away from you while trying to keep the jaws open and getting the phone in place. My phone's skin had to be removed because the groove width is barely enough for a Samsung A10e, a fairly small phone. The built in extension wand is a great feature. With that you get vertical reach over obstacles in front of you without needing your arm to be outstretched too high. Also that extra distance from you when doing selfies gives a more pleasing perspective of faces.Mostly I will end up staying to Locked ("L") mode usage but the A-B feature is interesting. Research the details (the fine print) of that because the zoom button comes into play on setting speed and duration for that motion. Also that first required step of long pressing the A-B button to put the gimbal into learning your start and end target points is omitted in the tiny booklet. The A-B motion does not automatically recycle. It does one pass and stops at the end. If you want to repeat the motion you need to press the A-B button quickly 3 times and it will do another pass with the same parameters. So it's OK for doing multiple takes but won't replace a slider that constantly goes back and forth on its own indefinitely.Definitely get familiar with the AOCHUAN app. That is what really opens up the features of the S2 gimbal. Usually I am not a fan of needing to use an app for A/V gear (and practically you don't need the app to use about 70% of the gimbal's potential) but this app seems friendly enough and at least has intuitive choices that I wasn't tearing out my hair while advancing the value of the gimbal.Storage orientation and readiness of the gimbal into and out of the case > A plus.
