4.0 out of 5 stars Quality siliconised acrylic sealant, works as well as any other brand I’ve used, expensive though
There really isn’t much to say about this, it's a brand I'd never heard of before, so I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect from it at first. However, after opening a tube up and using it for a few odd jobs around the house it’s the same as any other siliconised acrylic sealant/adhesive, and it provides a very serviceable waterproof joint. It goes on easily with a manual caulking gun and can be formed to fill cracks and crevices with the typical sealant tools or a gloved finger. The pigmentation is a nice and bright white that matches other fresh white sealants and adhesives with no issues, and I have had no problems with it curing at ambient indoor temperatures. If you’ve never used a sealant/adhesive made with an acrylic and silicone based mix, then it may feel a little unusual at first, but most of the same rules apply when using it. The back of the tube has a few bits of information that will point you in the right direction for surface prep and post-processing the sealant for things like finishing and overpainting the joints. For this particular sealant, WASPBAY suggests painting it before the skin fully forms in most cases for the best result, except for paints that require baking. Though most of these blended sealants are generally okay with most paints after curing, either way it's probably best to follow the advice on the tube.Ultimately my only real complaint with this product is the £9.99 price point, this is practically the same as every other acrylic and silicone blended flexible sealant, but it’s priced at 2–3 times what you’d pay for a known brand sealant from any hardware store. If you’re for some reason willing to pay such a huge markup for something that specifically says the words caravan and motorhome, then it’ll work just fine for most applications. If this was a structural adhesive for attaching air conditioners or solar panels to a motorhome, then I could see the price point being worth it, but this is just a typical white multi-surface compatible sealant that you can grab for £2-3 for almost anywhere.
5.0 out of 5 stars Cheaper than Sikaflex
Got this to reseal our motorhomeIt’s only three years old but the sealant is starting to look a little dirty.Anyway it worked we and I purchased 4 rubes which worked out far cheaper than SikaflexJob done 👍
5.0 out of 5 stars Value for money
Used to seal my motorhome easy to apply and looks well when finished, as good as some of the more expensive ones.
5.0 out of 5 stars Good quality
I'm a big user of CT1 sealant so my benchmark for this review is quite high. Are all sealants the same?....No! If you just want to seal around a sink or bath then high street big names such as Everbond or Unibond are good choices, they do that job well. But if you want a sealant that goes a bit further for your exterior jobs then you need some extra qualities. This sealant offers UV resistance and weather resistance which is important when your caravan is sat in a field at -10°C throughout the winter or baking under a sunny June day. It does all the other stuff too (mould & mildew resistant, anti yellow etc). That said it behaves like all other sealants, when applied with a manual caulking gun it goes on easily and smoothly and is easy to finish with a tool. The brilliant white colour is spot on. It cures in a similar time to other sealants too.I was using this on a caravan window that sprang a leak at the end of last season. No complaints so far.Verdict: Choose wisely, if you want to seal a sink, go cheap, if you're doing a job that needs some extra qualities then this is a good pick although it's way more expensive.
4.0 out of 5 stars This is going to be very useful
It might seem a bit sad but I am very excited to have this in my tool kit. I have a vintage caravan, complete with a few leaks and drips around the window seals and seams. It's easy to use and applies a thick white sealant to where needed. It is a fine art getting the sealant to stay straight and where you want it to go, but .. once you;ve got the knack it is fairly easy. As it hasn't stopped raining I haven't been able to use it in-situ yet, so watch this space. This is going to be very useful.
5.0 out of 5 stars Good Adhesive & Sealant
I have a similar waterproof adhesive and sealant from a competitor, and it had excellent properties just as described. It was the wrong colour, so I needed a white one for some repairs in the bathroom. You can probably ignore the implied use in caravans and motorhomes. If it works there, then it will work anywhere around the house, both inside and outside.Bullet Points about its Properties -- 100% Waterproof- UV Stable- Mildew Resistant- Aging ResistantThe instructions say it can be applied at an ambient temperature anywhere between 5 - 40 Celsius, but 15 - 25C is preferred. Viscosity is thickened in cold conditions and 'skin time' which is the beginnings of curing decreases with hotter temperatures. What is a little less usual is that it states that the sealant can be over-painted within the skin time. Firstly, I don't see how that is possible... The bead is still thoroughly wet, and yet you can paint it during that time before it skins over !! If you were to run a brush over the wet bead, then the bead would likely be deformed and the finish could be ruined. Basically the instructions are unclear. I wonder if they meant you can paint it after the skin as formed, yet before full curing. That would make more sense.I have tried out a test bead of this. It feels almost as flexible as silicone, but with a slightly coarser, less shiny surface finish. I think it is possible that paint would bond to it, but maybe not perfectly. It is worth experimenting on a test area before going on to the real thing. You can also buy chemicals which increase the bonding of paints to the surfaces they will be used on, and it might be better to use one of those when over-painting. I haven't tried use as an adhesive properly as yet, but initial impressions feeling the cured bead are that it would work well.
