    This review is for the Proster Ferrule Crimping Tool 0.08-16mm² 28-5AWG Ferrule Crimper Self-Adjustable Ratchet Bootlace Ferrules Plier for Insulated Non-Insulated Wire Ferrules£29.99 at the time of review.This tool is as well made as others I have used, with one difference – there are 6 crimping blades instead of the usual 4. What this means is that you get a more rounded crimping job, rather than a squarer finish that you get with four blades. Does this make any difference in practical terms? I don’t know.What I do know is that when I use my normal, 4 blade tool, I get a very square finish – see the 5 AWG square photo. When I use the Proster ferrule crimping tool, I get a more rounded finish – see 5 AWG hex 01 – but there is a long strip of metal that juts out along the side. I can see the same with the four blade one, but it is less obvious. The 5 AWG ferrule is too long to fit completely inside any tool, so I re-crimped the end to finish it more smoothly – see 5 AWG hex 02. This also had the benefit of rounding off the finish and reducing the strip to be almost invisible.I also tried it with an 18 AWG ferrule – see 18 AWG hex – which fitted completely inside the tool and gave me an almost round finish.So this tool works well indeed and on lower sizes, gives a very good finish. What I am less impressed with is the price which is a lot more that a lot of the competition. However, the range it covers is large, going from 5 to 28AWG – a lot of the competition don’t have this range so it is down to you to decide if you need this range or not. You can also buy a crimping tool and ferrules for around half upwards, so again, those may be a better choice for you.5AWG is 4.621mm in diameter and 18AWG is 1.024mm and AWG is an American system.4 stars due to the price and lack of ferrules, but it works well and gives a good finish.

    This is a very high quality crimping tool. The grips are extra chunky and rubberised so makes the crimping action effortlessly. It’s got a great mechanism and will last you a lifetime. It quite heavy which is a testament to the high quality materials used to manufacture this. Good piece of kit which can be recommended

    Die Crimpzange mit ihrer Ratschenfunktion ist äußerst praktisch und einfach zu handhaben. Man kann problemlos nachgreifen, wenn die Kraft beim Zudrücken mal nachlässt. Mit einem Anwendungsbereich von 0,08-16mm² sollte sich alles abdecken lassen. Durch die sechseckige Form halten die Aderendhülsen bestens und man kann sie auch super einschrauben. Ein Set mit zusätzlichen Aderendhülsen wäre noch toll gewesen, aber das Verbrauchsmaterial lässt sich auch gut zusätzlich besorgen. Auf jeden Fall eine hochwertige Crimpzange die macht was sie soll.
